Knuckles Will Reportedly Appear In Sonic's Second Movie Outing Posted: 23 Dec 2020 06:55 PM PST Get to know the guardian of the Master Emerald. There's a new rumour that Knuckles the Echidna will be appearing in Sonic the Hedgehog's second big-screen outing. It's not exactly a surprise considering he's been such a big part of the video game series since first appearing in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and when taking into account certain scenes in the original live-action Sonic movie. This information comes from The illuminerdi website, which shared an "exclusive update" revealing Knuckles' appearance would be more than just a cameo. Warning: Original movie spoilers ahead... Konami's Gradius III Blasts Onto The Nintendo Switch eShop This Week Posted: 23 Dec 2020 05:30 PM PST "Enjoy playing the best game in the series". Just over a month after Hamster's release of Gradius II on the Switch eShop, we've now got Gradius III to top it off. The third entry in the scrolling shoot 'em up series was released by Konami in the arcade in 1989 and followed with a SNES port in 1990. Here's a bit about it: Read the full article on nintendolife.com |

Random: Among Us On Wii? Sounds Kinda Sus Posted: 23 Dec 2020 12:30 PM PST Impostor-ble! Dust off your nunchucks and grab your wrist straps, because it's time to get suspicious old-school style: Among Us is on the Wii! Well, sort of. "I got Among Us working on the Nintendo Wii," declares Reddit user BurritoSOFTWARE on the unofficial Among Us subreddit, along with a video proving his claim: he is, indeed, playing Among Us on the Nintendo Wii. Incredible! Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Your Animal Crossing Island Could Be In A Museum As Part Of A COVID-19 Exhibit Posted: 23 Dec 2020 12:00 PM PST Blathers-ception. Cube Life: Island Survival Comes To Switch On 26th December Posted: 23 Dec 2020 11:00 AM PST Making Boxing Day even boxier. Ah, December 26th. The one day of the year when it is fully acceptable to lie on the sofa all day, playing video games. (What do you mean, that's every day?) When we're all pickled from booze, rounder than a Christmas pudding, and totally gifted out, there's nothing we love more than... more shopping? Well, get used to it, because Cube Life: Island Survival - a graphically-updated remake of the 2015 Wii U title - is available to buy on the 26th December, with its Minecraft-style chunky blocks and its rather pretty water. Like Minecraft, it has both a Survival and Creative Mode, a bunch of tools, and lots of things that want to kill you. Unlike Minecraft, it has motorboats, HD textures, and sharks. Hardware Review: Sega Astro City Mini - An Esoteric Way To Mark 60 Years In The Business Posted: 23 Dec 2020 10:00 AM PST Coining it in. 2020 has been a pretty rough year, but one of the things that has given us a little bit of happiness during the past 12 months is the fact that Nintendo's one-time rival Sega is celebrating 60 glorious years in the business. During this period, we've seen prototypes, played games that were considered to be lost and even gotten our hands on a tiny Game Gear (an event which actually left us wanting more, but that's beside the point). Now, Sega is rounding off its 60th birthday with another hardware launch – and one that's perhaps even more niche that a Game Gear you can comfortably slip into your pocket without owning a pair of MC Hammer's old trousers. The Astro City Mini is, like the Neo Geo Mini before it, a tabletop arcade machine which comes pre-loaded with 37 games. It has a built-in LCD screen, a micro-switched joystick and six action buttons, imitating perfectly the original Astro City arcade cabinet from back in the day. It's powered via a Micro-USB (not USB-C, sadly) port on the back, and boasts HDMI-out so you can connect it to your television for 720p gaming goodness. A 3.5mm headphone socket is also included, as are two USB-A ports so you can connect compatible controllers. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Is Getting A 'Dark Reunion' Tournament On Christmas Day Posted: 23 Dec 2020 09:00 AM PST Bah humbug! If you end up getting a copy of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Christmas, or if you're really not in the festive mood and have a copy already, you might want to spend a bit of time jumping into the game's next tournament event. Starting on 25th December, a new Tourney called 'Dark Reunion' will be taking place in-game, exclusively featuring fighters "who have embraced the darkness" (thanks, Pure Nintendo). Naturally, this includes the game's latest character Sephiroth, so there's no better excuse to try your luck with a brand new fighter. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Capcom Shows Off More Footage Of Ghosts 'N Goblins Resurrection Posted: 23 Dec 2020 08:30 AM PST And it's looking really promising. The announcement of Ghosts 'N Goblins Resurrection certainly came out of the blue. While the franchise was once one of Capcom's most famous efforts, it has fallen by the wayside in recent years, so it was a nice surprise to see the Japanese veteran dust this one off for another adventure. The hosts of the Japanese Capcom TV channel got chance to see the game in motion recently, and while we're still not 100% comfortable with the new visual style, it would seem that Ghosts 'N Goblins Resurrection has lost none of the series' penchant for challenging gameplay. 1999 Neo Geo Fighter Fatal Fury: First Contact Has Just Surprise-Launched On Switch Posted: 23 Dec 2020 07:20 AM PST Terry's back with another '90s classic. Fatal Fury: First Contact, a fighting game that released on the Neo Geo Pocket Color back in 1999, has just appeared out of nowhere on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Merry Christmas! Heavily based on arcade fighter Real Bout Fatal Fury 2, which launched just a year before it in 1998, the game features the likes of Rick Strowd, Li Xiangfei, Geese Howard, Mai Shiranui and – of course – Super Smash Bros. Ultimate star Terry Bogard. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Video: Are People Still Playing Wii U Games Online? Let's Find Out Posted: 23 Dec 2020 07:00 AM PST Can you still get games on Smash, Splatoon and more? It's December 2020, almost four whole years since the Wii U was discontinued due to poor global sales and the incoming Nintendo Switch, but we have one burning question on our minds: are people still playing this thing online? Yes, our newest lovely YouTube star Jon has taken the Wii U and its good old clunky GamePad for a 2020 test drive, all in a bid to see just how popular its online games are today. Over two sessions designed to hit two different time zones, we jumped into games of some of the Wii U's biggest sellers (Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Splatoon), as well as a decent range of other titles that took our fancy, including the likes of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Review: Football Manager 2021 Touch - With Patience, This One's Got Great Potential Posted: 23 Dec 2020 06:00 AM PST It's got a Silva lining. Well, it's that time of year again. Quite literally, in fact, as it was on this very date last year that we published our Football Manager 2020 Touch review. Here we now have the 2021 edition, and to Sports Interactive's credit there have at least been some attempts made to mix things up a bit. Whereas EA's FIFA series has essentially flatlined on the Switch as fans continue to be let down with frankly insulting 'Legacy Edition' releases, the Football Manager games continue to add new features every year: while these are occasionally arbitrary and don't necessarily mean the game is growing from strength to strength, it's a welcome move nonetheless. This New Game Boy Game Is 21 Years In The Making Posted: 23 Dec 2020 03:15 AM PST All it took was a global pandemic to finish it. 2020 has changed things for a lot of people. While the video game industry has generally done well out of the fact that everyone has had to remain indoors for most of the year, the coronavirus outbreak has had a massively negative effect on other business sectors, with many companies having to lay off staff or even close due to the loss of earnings and general disruption. Quang Nguyen is one individual who has found himself in such a situation. If you're a keen follower of the retro gaming scene in the UK, then you'll almost certainly know him via his @asobitech Twitter handle, via which he shows off his utterly insane vintage game collection. However, he's also rather good at coding, and actually entered game development way back in 1999, when he started messing around with the Game Boy Development Kit by Pascal Felber and Michael Hope.
