Video: 13 Great Wii U Games Still Not on Switch Posted: 23 Jan 2021 12:00 PM PST Still some survivors aboard. It's no secret that Switch has nabbed a large chunk of Wii U's biggest titles such as Mario Kart 8, Pikmin 3, Super Mario 3D World and many, many more...but there's still a number of games that remain exclusive to Wii U. We didn't just want to highlight any old games though, these 13 are legitimately fantastic and we hope to see some of them join the likes of Bayonetta 2 in the series of ports to Switch. These range from obvious choices such as Xenoblade Chronicles X to lesser known gems like Project Zero: Maiden of Blackwater. Wii U may not have been Nintendo's most popular machine but that doesn't devalue how good some of its games were, numerous titles have lived a successful second life on the Switch (Mario Kart 8 ranking as the Switch's best selling game). Feature: Cyber Shadow Dev On 8-Bit Classics And How We Can Thank Yacht Club For The Switch Launch Posted: 23 Jan 2021 10:00 AM PST "I can't comprehend how it happened, must be dark magic". It's true that there's no shortage of retro-inspired, nostalgia-drenched Switch games to enjoy these days. It's something of a golden age for anyone who loves the pixel aesthetic, tight controls, incredible chiptunes and purity of classic NES games from the '80s and early-'90s. Now there's a new kid on the block, and despite the competition (and contrary to the stealthy nature of the Ninja), Cyber Shadow has stood out very prominently on our radar ever since it was announced back in March 2019. Yacht Club Games is on publishing duties and lending its expertise (acquired from developing and launching the phenomenally successful Shovel Knight series) to developer Aarne Hunziker (AKA MekaSkull) of one-person studio Mechanical Head Games. Stardew Valley's 1.5 Update For Consoles Could Be Arriving Very Soon Posted: 23 Jan 2021 07:00 AM PST "late this month or early next month is likely". At the end of last year, Stardew Valley's developer ConcernedApe told console players there was a chance version 1.5 might be released by the "end" of January but didn't want to make any guarantees. Feature: Best Kirby Games Of All Time Posted: 23 Jan 2021 06:00 AM PST Every Kirby game ever, as ranked by you. Kirby — one of the most famous faces (with little podgy arms and feet attached) in Nintendo's stable of stars — has been wowing players with his impressive abilities and sheer versatility for nearly thirty years now. Created by Smash Bros. boss Masahiro Sakurai, the pink one built up a very impressive library of games across a variety of genres since his 1992 Game Boy debut, Kirby's Dream Land. In fact, Kirby and his catalogue represent an odd dichotomy. He's a super approachable platforming protagonist ready to onboard novices and younger gamers with his sedately iterative adventures, but he is also (and perhaps fittingly seeing as he's the product of a company named HAL Laboratory) the subject of numerous madcap gameplay experiments; a guinea pig for new game mechanics and ideas. Kirby is all-at-once video gaming's blandest and most exciting character. Perhaps such adaptability is to be expected from an individual who can transform at will and adopt the characteristics of literally anyone or anything he comes into contact with. A 'Pro' Switch With More Power Might Not Even Be Fully Utilised, Says Industry Veteran Posted: 23 Jan 2021 04:30 AM PST "you must make sure your game runs on every model". There have been some suggestions the rumoured Switch 'Pro' absolutely needs to have slightly improved specs to ensure it can run certain games and improve existing ones but is it all that necessary? Perhaps not, according to one industry veteran. In a recent interview with Nintendo Everything, Engine Software's co-founder and vice president Ruud van de Moosdijk (who has worked on a handful of Switch games, including recent ports of No More Heroes 1 & 2) said as "nice" as it would be, a slightly improved model with some extra power could potentially go to waste.
