DOOM Eternal's Part Two DLC Has Been Rated In Australia Posted: 16 Feb 2021 08:00 PM PST Can the Switch have part one now? After a delay, DOOM Eternal finally arrived on the Nintendo Switch at the end of last year as a digital-only release. Since then, Switch fans have been waiting for the first part of the DLC "The Ancient Gods" to arrive. While an official FAQ previously revealed it would be coming to the Nintendo version at a "later date" since then, there's been no additional information. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Reggie Wants E3 And Platform Holders To Find A Way To "Digitally" Enable Fans Posted: 16 Feb 2021 07:00 PM PST "I think that would be huge". Since the global pandemic hit, gaming conventions around the world have become all-digital events. This includes E3, which last year had no option but to cancel. This year, it'll be returning in the same format as many other events. While it's really the only way this type of event could even go ahead right now, one man who isn't entirely convinced is Nintendo of America's former president, Reggie Fils-Aimé. Super Smash Bros. "Body To Body" Tournament Starts Later This Week Posted: 16 Feb 2021 05:55 PM PST Another Ultimate event. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be hosting a tournament later this week on 19th February. It'll run for three days and is themed around fighters who use body attacks and "deadly tricks" to defeat their opponents. As usual, the more opponents you defeat, the more spirits you'll get. Here's the official tweet for this event: Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Random: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Trends On Social Media Ahead Of Nintendo's Direct Broadcast Posted: 16 Feb 2021 05:30 PM PST Here we go again. It's official, we're getting a 50-minute Nintendo Direct later today (UK time) and it'll be focused on games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate along with titles coming to the hybrid system in the "first half" of 2021. This year also happens to be The Legend of Zelda's 35th anniversary, so there are obviously expectations of some sort of news on that front. It seems hopes are already high - with "BOTW2" now trending on Twitter: Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Random: Japanese Fitness Mag Discusses How To Play Ring Fit Properly Posted: 16 Feb 2021 02:00 PM PST The secret is not being unfit. Oof, it's been a while since we booted up Ring Fit Adventure. Our bones have returned to their previously creaky state, and our muscles to marshmallow. But it seems like Nintendo Japan know we've been struggling, so they've just published some tips and tricks courtesy of Murata-san, from the editorial department of Tarzan, a Japanese fitness magazine. Soapbox: There's One Thing I Want To See In Tomorrow's Direct, And It's Pullblox Posted: 16 Feb 2021 11:30 AM PST Smash Bros. who? Give me Mallo. To be a Nintendo fan is to be intimately familiar with disappointment. Each one of us has a particular game or series that we cling to like Rose on the Titanic door, desperately hoping that Papa Ninty will eventually notice us and give us the sequel (or at least a remake) we crave. It's their fault for making such good games in such quantity, really - and for abandoning them in favour of adding another Fire Emblem character to Smash Bros. No, I'm not bitter. I have a lot of these. Ghost Trick. Fantasy Life. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. I could go on for years complaining about all the games that I loved and lost. I envy those of you who clamour for new Metroid, new Bayonetta, and remakes of old Zelda games, because at least those are likely. I have to survive on delicious scraps like finding out that The Great Ace Attorney might finally get localised after almost six years of waiting, and hope that the rumours are true. Random: Did You Know About Nintendo Switch's ZL/ZR Battery Feature? Posted: 16 Feb 2021 11:00 AM PST Handy! Those ZL/ZR triggers are more useful than we thought! The Nintendo Switch has been sitting in peoples' homes for almost four whole years now, but it seems the hybrid console might still have the odd trick up its sleeve that plenty of owners haven't yet discovered. Review: The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon - A Solid Expansion To A Cracking Sci-Fi RPG Posted: 16 Feb 2021 10:00 AM PST Noir Wars. The Outer Worlds' first helping of DLC finally makes its way onto Nintendo Switch, having released on all other platforms back in September of 2020, and it's a very solid return to the Hyperion System for the colourful crew of the good ship Unreliable. Peril on Gorgon sees fans of Obsidian's satirical sci-fi romp indulged with a handful of brand new areas to explore in a ten-hour adventure that fills in some interesting lore with regards to the game's marauder enemies whilst also providing an atmospheric and engaging noir-style detective mystery to get stuck into. First things first though, if you're planning on grabbing Peril on Gorgon you're gonna need to make sure you've played up to and completed the main game's Radio Free Monarch story quest, which is roughly four or five hours into The Outer Worlds' core campaign. However, further to this, and something that hasn't been made in any way clear in the run-up to release, you'll also need to ensure your squad are ranked up to at least level 20 before landing on the great green asteroid if you don't want to get yourself one-shotted into oblivion by the first bad guy you happen across upon leaving the confines of your ship. To make matters even more convoluted, if you've actually already beaten the game or are right at the end – past a certain point of no return towards the finale of the campaign – you'll also need to either load an earlier save or, heaven forbid, restart the game entirely as you can't access this new DLC content from this late stage of proceedings. Pokémon Unite Gets Development Update And Beta Test Announcement Posted: 16 Feb 2021 08:30 AM PST "There's still plenty to be done". We haven't heard a whole lot about Pokémon Unite since it was first announced for Switch and mobile last June, but The Pokémon Company has now shared a quick development update. Progress has been made since last summer's reveal as you'd expect, although there's still work to be done. "More playable Pokémon have been added, changes and additions have been made to the gameplay, the visuals have improved, and much more," The Pokémon Company says. "That said, there's still plenty to be done to ensure the best possible experience." Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Memory Pak: When Link Left The Temple Of Time In Zelda: Ocarina Of Time And Everything Changed Posted: 16 Feb 2021 08:00 AM PST Lesson learned: touching swords makes you get old. Welcome to the first instalment of a new column, where we're going to be doing a deep-dive into some of the most memorable moments in gaming – good and bad. We're starting off strong with a moment that cemented the Zelda series as one of the all-time greats, in celebration of Link's 35th birthday or something. Happy birthday, Link. You are now old enough to get a mortgage and stop mooching off the Kokiri. There's something magical about cathedrals. Perhaps it's the way their vaulted architecture elicits a silence so deep you can almost hear God. Perhaps it's the knowledge that generations of old bones rest beneath your feet, waiting for you to join them. It's no surprise that games like Dark Souls and Bloodborne revere and fear them in almost equal measure: they're places of awesome beauty, in the original meaning of the word. Honestly, it's not hard to make an eldritch horror out of the Christian mythos, packed as it is with blood, relics, death and rebirth. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Remedy, The Studio Behind Hit Game Control, Reports Massive Profits In 2020 Despite No New Games Posted: 16 Feb 2021 07:30 AM PST Control hit 2 million sales in December. Work smart, not hard, they say - and it looks like Finnish studio Remedy is doing both. GI.biz reports that Remedy's 2020 was their most financially successful year ever, with full-year revenues rising 30% to €41.1 million (£35.8m). In 2019, they made a total of €6.5 million (£5.6m), even with the launch of Control that August, but they more than doubled that profit in 2020, with their operating profit hitting €13.2 million (£11.5m). As GI.biz points out, this was all achieved without launching a single new game. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |

Pokémon Trading Card Game Battle Academy Wins 'Toy Of The Year' Award Posted: 16 Feb 2021 06:30 AM PST Beating the very best, like no toy ever has. We've witnessed some shameful antics lately regarding the Pokémon Trading Card Game. It's made the news due to scalpers targeting McDonalds Happy Meals, a statement we never expected to write. Whilst fans wait on The Pokémon Company to reprint more cards, we've got slightly better news to report: it has won big at the recent Toy Of The Year Awards. Run by The Toy Association, Game of the Year was presented to Pokémon TCG Battle Academy, which offered a beginner-friendly board game adaptation last June. Featuring three pre-made decks based around Charizard, Pikachu, and Mewtwo, Battle Academy generally reviewed well amongst players. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |

You may recall that back in 2018, Nintendo filed a lawsuit against mobile games developer Colopl for around 4.4 billion yen ($41.7 million). It's not going away anytime soon – having entered multiple hearings – and now, Nintendo has raised that figure to 4.95 billion yen ($46.9 million). As reported via Famitsu, this increase comes down to how long the case has gone on for. Initial charges go all the way back to 2016, before Nintendo escalated matters into a lawsuit.
