Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 Trailer Promises Ridiculous And "Ambitious" Series Ending

Posted: 29 Jul 2021 09:40 AM PDT

Brooklyn Nine-Nine has released another new trailer for its upcoming final and "most ambitious" season, which will premiere August 12 on NBC. The cop comedy wrapped production on its eighth and final season in June.

Given everything that has happened in our real world since the previous season--including in the policing world--these final 10 episodes should be poignant, tackle some issues, and of course somehow manage to still be funny. While we don't really know much about the plotlines ahead, we do know that the writers had four episodes written for the final season and then threw them all out amid the political unrest in the US specifically focused around police. Check out the new trailer below, which does offer a few clues about where things are heading.

The show stars Andy Samberg, Stephanie Beatriz, Melissa Fumero, Terry Crews, Joe Lo Truglio, Andre Braugher, Dirk Blocker, and Joel McKinnon Miller. Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which follows the story of a police unit in Brooklyn, originally aired on Fox for five seasons before the show was canceled. NBC picked it up for season six, and then extended it for two more.

Monster Hunter Rise Version 3.2.0 Update Out Now, Adds Okami Event Quest And Lots Of Bug Fixes

Posted: 29 Jul 2021 09:35 AM PDT

Monster Hunter Rise's version 3.2.0 update is now live on Nintendo Switch. This patch introduces the second Capcom Collab Event Quest and makes numerous other bug fixes and adjustments to the online RPG.

The aforementioned Event Quest will be available starting July 30 and is an Okami crossover. After completing the quest, you'll be able to use the materials you earned to forge a set of layered Palamute armor based on Okami's protagonist, Amaterasu. As Capcom detailed on the official Monster Hunter website, your Ammy Palamute will wield one of each type of the three Divine Instruments--a Reflector, a Rosary, and a Glaive--and the effects that trail will change depending on the surrounding environment. You can see some screenshots of the Okami layered armor below.

Beyond that, the version 3.2.0 update primarily addresses a swathe of bugs and other issues in the game, including one that caused Teostra's dust to remain on screen even after the monster was defeated, and another that would cause the controls to stop working in certain circumstances when ordering a Motley Mix. The update also introduces Arabic language support and a new slate of cosmetic DLC, which can be purchased through the eShop. You can read the full patch notes below.

New Apex Legends Trailer Details Seer's Abilities

Posted: 29 Jul 2021 09:15 AM PDT

After being revealed along with the game's Emergence update during this year's EA Play event, a new trailer for Apex Legends has focused on its next character, Seer. Specifically, the trailer goes over the mysterious character's abilities, which show him acting as an alternative to Bloodhound.

Like Bloodhound, Seer's specialty is tracking, and while his abilities don't down enemies or stop bullets, they do provide squads with valuable information.

Seer's passive ability is titled Heart Seeker and serves as a throwback to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's heartbeat sensors. By aiming down sights while playing as Seer, players can hear and see the heartbeats of nearby enemies, giving them a good idea of when another player is close by.

Some Of WoW's Biggest Content Creators Are Quitting The Game

Posted: 29 Jul 2021 09:12 AM PDT

Two of World of Warcraft's biggest content creators, Preach Gaming and MadSeasonShow, are quitting Blizzard's long-running MMO for greener pastures, though they each have different reasons for moving on.

In a new video titled "End of an Era - Why We're No Longer Covering WoW," Preach explained the channel's decision to stop daily WoW coverage, citing both the recent California lawsuit against Activision Blizzard over the company's alleged "frat boy" culture rife with sexual harassment and the state of WoW's latest Shadowlands expansion. He says given recent allegations, and the response of Activision Blizzard leadership, he no longer feels comfortable promoting Blizzard's game.

"That is essentially what happens, that is the relationship I hold with Blizzard with having a large audience," Preach says. "We produce content, we check out content that is development. We get to see things a little bit earlier in order to get that out to you guys as a promotional tool. That's how Blizzard sees it, and in return, we get to make fun content about a game we absolutely adore. I no longer feel comfortable doing that, at all."

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut Gives Jin Sakai Even More Abilities

Posted: 29 Jul 2021 08:52 AM PDT

By the time the end credits had rolled on Ghost of Tsushima, protagonist Jin Sakai was a walking arsenal of samurai skills and ninja tricks. For Ghost of Tsushima's upcoming expansion, Sakai will be picking up a few new abilities in the game to deal with the remnant Mongol forces that have gathered under the banner of the shaman Ankhsar Khatun.

"Without giving it all away, what I will say is that there are some new skills and some new abilities," Sucker Punch's creative and art director Jason Connell explained to Press Start. "There's some things that we lean into a little bit more that we're pretty excited about. We quite like our Mythic Tales that we had in Tsushima, so leaning into something like that, this game is going to be very rewarding and fun. Also we lean into nature as sort of a theme."

Other interesting information from the interview included details on how the PS5 version of the game will use the DualSense controller and PS5 to create a more immersive experience. According to Connell, the controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers have been used to drive home the impact of the weapon combat, while the console's 3D audio is being used to create a greater "spatial feeling" in the environments around a player.

Marvel and Disney+ have been banging out some fantastic MCU TV series, and the upcoming Hawkeye series finally has a release date. The series will debut on the streaming service on Wednesday, November 24.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, we learn a little more about Steinfeld's character. "[Kate is] a 22-year-old kid and she's a big Hawkeye fan," Renner explained. Posted: 29 Jul 2021 08:00 AM PDT

Doctor Who showrunner Chris Chibnall announced Thursday morning that he, and current Doctor Jodie Whittaker, are leaving the show in 2022. The BBC is reporting that their exit from the show will be part of a huge television event that will celebrate the company's centennial event.

BBC is planning on three specials to celebrate the occasion before the Doctor regenerates. Two of them will be special event episodes, but BBC One has also asked for a television movie to be made as well.

Jodie Whittaker stepped aboard the TARDIS to begin filming in 2017 as the first woman to play the iconic role, replacing Peter Capaldi. James Gunn Told Marvel And DC He Wants To Do A Crossover Movie

Posted: 29 Jul 2021 07:49 AM PDT

Both Marvel and DC are pumping out movies, with DC's The Suicide Squad the next film to come out--arriving in theaters on August 6. And during a recent interview on Jake's Takes, director James Gunn revealed he has an idea for a Marvel/DC crossover movie and has mentioned it to the "powers that be." Don't expect it to happen though.

Gunn was asked about the "pie in the sky" dream of a Marvel/DC crossover movie and what characters he'd like to see team up. "I would really be happy to do a Harley Quinn and Groot movie," said Gunn. "That would be exciting for me. And not only have I thought about that, but I've actually talked about that to the heads of both Marvel and DC. Everybody's open to everything but whether anything would ever happen, who knows? The idea of being able to bring Marvel and DC together in a movie, that would be really fun for me. I know it's exciting for even the heads of Marvel and DC to think about."

While the idea has been floated to Marvel and DC, the chances of it coming to fruition is almost a pipedream. "It's something we all like to dream about. Whether we could ever get through the barrage, the Berlin Wall of lawyers we would need to get through to ever make something like that happen, I don't know, but it would be a blast," explained Gunn.

Alongside new Rift Tour Quests, Epic Games has revealed the Rift Tour, a "musical experience unlike any other," though the studio is saving the most important reveals for next week. Exclusive quests will have you working to interact with Rift Tour posters, use an alien hologram pad, and save the date in the Rift Tour tab in order to unlock new free, limited-time Rift Tour cosmetics. With guides for all of the Rift Tour Quests plus more details to come on the grand finale next weekend, here's everything we know so far about the Fortnite Rift Tour.

When Is The Rift Tour?

The Fortnite Rift Tour will take place beginning on Friday, August 6 at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET. It's likely a custom playlist will be made available at that time within Fortnite, and for now, you can check out the new social tab in the game's menus called "Rift Tour," where you and friends can RSVP to the event and see who else is going.

It's there where you can also see the specific times of the performance, with five showings spread across the weekend. As for who's doing the performing, we should know that come August 2, which is when Epic says it will reveal the complete details of the show. A new in-game timer and almost deafening rumors point to the headliner being Ariana Grande, but until we see confirmation of that, it remains a fun mystery.

Posted: 29 Jul 2021 07:16 AM PDT

The latest Nier game, the mobile-exclusive Nier Reincarnation, has officially released in the West, and Nier Automata fans can take advantage of a crossover to celebrate the launch. Prior to its official release, 700,000 people pre-registered, and 699,999 of them weren't me.

Yes, the game is no longer merely Nierly hier--Nier is most sincerely hier.

Featuring a turn-based battle system with "action command" elements rather than the third-person action of the main series, Nier Reincarnation may be a mobile exclusive, but it still features the creative team that made the previous games so successful. That includes creative director Yoko Taro, producer Yosuke Saito, and composer Keiichi Okabe.
