Aquaman 2 Filmmakers Wouldn't Remove Amber Heard Because Of Johnny Depp Fans Posted: 30 Jul 2021 09:00 AM PDT According to producers, the creative team behind the upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom gave no credence whatsoever to the online petition calling on Warner Bros. to remove actor Amber Heard from the movie. Indeed, Aquaman and the Lost of Kingdom began production on July 19, and Heard is reprising her role as Atlantean queen Mera. The public appeal was another one of those things that makes you question what the internet is ultimately good for--Heard has characterized the appeal previously as a "paid campaign" instigated by fans of her ex-husband Johnny Depp, who previously was asked to back from his role in Fantastic Beasts 3 after a UK tabloid called him a "wife-beater." But, in a new podcast interview released by Deadline, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom producer Peter Safran said, "I don't think we're ever going to react to, honestly, pure fan pressure… You gotta do what's best for the movie. We felt that if it's [director] James Wan, and Jason Momoa, it should be Amber Heard. That's really what it was." Continue Reading at GameSpot |
Madden 22 Ratings: Top Quarterbacks Revealed Posted: 30 Jul 2021 08:42 AM PDT It's the final day of Madden NFL 22 player rating reveals, and this time we're focused on quarterbacks. Arguably the most important part of a team, the quarterback lineup is certainly strong in this year's player roster, and it includes another 99 club member. Patrick Mahomes is the top-rated QB with a 99 OVR rating, following by Michigan second-stringer Tom Brady at 97 OVR. They're followed by Jeopardy host Aaron Rodgers at 96, Russell Wilson at 94, and the Ravens' Lamar Jackson at 90, who is only technically a quarterback. It's worth noting that Deshaun Watson is also on the list, and he is the subject of numerous allegations of sexual assault. It's unclear how this will affect his status with the Houston Texans, though he is currently practicing with them. You can see the full Top 10 list of Madden quarterbacks below, which only apply to the pre-season ratings for each player. Based on their performance, these numbers can go up and down. Life Is Strange: True Colors Trailer Shows Off Beautiful Haven Springs Posted: 30 Jul 2021 07:14 AM PDT A new trailer for Life is Strange: True Colors gives us an introduction to Haven Springs, Colorado, a gorgeous mountain town where host Steph Gingrich tells us we'll find "family" rather than mere friends. Haven Springs' aptly named Main St. features "all the action," according to Gingrich. You'll find a record shop, bike and ski shop, ice cream, flowers, and a townie bar called The Black Lantern. The bar not only features lots of locals to chat with but also some "classic" arcade game cabinets. An Arkanoid game is on display, as Taito is a Square Enix subsidiary now, and you can even play foosball or try out the jukebox. If you're into LARPing (live-action role-playing) and yelling "lightning bolt!" while throwing napkins at people, then you'll be pleased to know Steph runs her own game with the locals, and she wants to get it up and running again for your visit. You'll also be able to check out a spring festival featuring campfires and local music, which we're guessing will include a sad Sufjan Stevens song if the past games are any indication. The Halo Infinite Technical Preview Is Live Until August 2 Posted: 30 Jul 2021 06:49 AM PDT After a major delay and multiple trailers, a chosen group of players have access to Halo Infinite's technical preview, or beta, this weekend. The beta started on July 29 and will end on Monday, August 2 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Players signed up for the beta through Halo Insider, and can now install it on either their Xbox One, Xbox Series X, or PC via Steam. While players won't be able to access Halo Infinite's campaign during the technical preview this weekend, they will have an opportunity to try out the game's upcoming free-to-play multiplayer. Throughout the beta, a few different types of playlists will be available, which pit players against both bots and other players. While matches against players will go on as they have in any other Halo title, matches against bots will be a little different. As part of a playlist called Bot Slayer, these matches will get more difficult and take place on different maps as the technical preview goes on. Continue Reading at GameSpot |
Xbox Series X 1TB Expansion Card Is On Sale For $188 In Excellent Deal Posted: 30 Jul 2021 06:36 AM PDT If you're already running out of space on your Xbox Series X or Series S, the best storage solution is Seagate's officially licensed 1TB NVMe SSD. Sadly, the expansion card is pretty pricey at a retail price of $220, but right now you can get it for one of the lowest prices we've seen. Newegg has Seagate's storage expansion card on sale for $188 with promo code EMCEYSB59. You'll get free shipping with your order, too.
Seagate's 1TB NVMe SSD is a tiny card that pops into a slot on the back of the Series X and Series S. It's currently the only external storage option for the new Xbox consoles that will allow you to play Xbox Series X games without transferring the files to the internal drive first. While you can use a regular external hard drive to store games, you'll have to go through the somewhat lengthy transfer process before you can play them on Series X. The convenience is what makes the Seagate 1TB NVMe SSD worth considering. This is a cheaper and simpler solution than the internal M.2 SSDs that Sony just announced can be used to expand the storage of the PS5. Continue Reading at GameSpot |
Valve Defends 30% Steam Cut In Antitrust Suit Posted: 30 Jul 2021 06:29 AM PDT Valve has responded to a legal challenge alleging antitrust violations, requesting that the suit be dismissed and defending the 30% sales cut taken by its Steam digital store. The suit, filed in April by Wolfire Games, alleges that Valve's dominant position allows it to charge "an extraordinarily high cut" from developer sales. Wolfire claimed in its suit that Valve bars developers from selling Steam keys for lower prices on other stores, which it argues is anti-consumer because sellers need to keep prices high to afford Valve's high cut. In a response (via PC Gamer), filed this week in Washington district court, Valve argues it "has no duty under antitrust law to allow developers to use free Steam Keys to undersell prices for the games they sell on Steam—or to provide Steam Keys at all." It also argues that Wolfire failed to provide evidence of Valve allegedly disallowing pricing requirements, saying it was based on a single anecdote. That doesn't suggest a larger policy at play. It also defended the 30% sales cut, citing the industry standard. The response seeks to dismiss the suit or to take the claim to arbitration. Continue Reading at GameSpot |
How To Install The Halo Infinite Beta Posted: 30 Jul 2021 06:29 AM PDT The Halo Infinite beta (or technical test) has kicked off and is running this weekend, giving you the chance to try out the game's new weapons and systems in competitive multiplayer. However, the process for playing doesn't end with getting an invitation. You also have to install the Halo Infinite beta client, and that varies depending on where you're playing the game. Here's how to do it and get playing. Were it so easy? Well, yes, if you listen to us. Xbox One and Xbox Series X|SHead to the Xbox Store from your console and search for the Xbox Insider Hub app, which you'll need to access beta apps. From here, go to Previews, choose Halo Infinite - Insider, and then register for the build. From here, you should see a "Manage" prompt, after which you'll need to go through some terms and conditions before you can install the beta build. Once it's installed, you'll be able to access and run it just like you would any other game via the My Games & Apps section of the Xbox UI. Continue Reading at GameSpot |
A Potential Paramount+ And Peacock Partnership Has Been Put On Hold Posted: 30 Jul 2021 12:42 AM PDT A potential partnership between ViacomCBS and Comcast, meant to bolster the two companies' flagging streaming services, has been put on hold due to antitrust concerns. A report by Forbes quotes a company insider, who says the companies will now be waiting to see how regulators react to a proposed WarnerMedia-Discovery merger before proceeding. Forbes sources claim at least one high-level talk has been held between ViacomCBS and Comcast in June, discussing a potential merger between their Paramount+ and Peacock streaming services. Both services are struggling in a market already dominated by giants like Netflix, Amazon, and Disney. Any plans made have now been put on hold, however, after President Biden signed an executive order on July 9 vowing to enforce the USA's anti-trust laws more aggressively "to combat the excessive concentration of industry." Beloved Velocity Series Is Getting A Spiritual Successor Posted: 30 Jul 2021 12:10 AM PDT FuturLab, the studio behind the critically acclaimed Velocity series and oddly satisfying PowerWash Simulator, is making a new Velocity-style game. The studio has announced a new collaboration with Thunderful Publishing, which will be helping FuturLab bring a Velocity spiritual successor to life. FuturLab is most known for its sci-fi arcade speedrunning series Velocity, which consists of Velocity, Velocity Ultra, and Velocity 2X. The studio branched out more recently with the popular PowerWash Simulator, but now is returning to its sci-fi action roots with a brand new game. The studio says the new game is "a stylish, high-intensity third-person combat game," that's being described as a Velocity spiritual successor rather than a direct sequel. FuturLab founder James Marsden describes the upcoming game as "ambitious" in a recent press release. "It sees our studio returning to sci-fi action, possessing the same DNA as Velocity, but with far more ambition, style, and contemporary relevance," Marsden said. "It is nothing short of a dream game, and we cannot wait to share it with the world." Continue Reading at GameSpot |

Original Suicide Squad Director Calls Out Studio Over Original Cut, Endorses The Suicide Squad Posted: 29 Jul 2021 03:54 PM PDT Suicide Squad director David Ayer hopped on Twitter this week to air his grievances with critics and the studio that released the 2016 film. In the three-page letter, Ayer distances himself from the theatrical cut of Suicide Squad yet again and wishes and wishes director James Gunn well.
"I don't know what quit is. I am not who you think I am," Ayer says in the letter. The director describes his difficult upbringing and youth before joining the Navy and working odd jobs prior to becoming a screenwriter. "I put my life into Suicide Squad," Ayer wrote of the 2016 film. "I made something amazing--my cut is [an] intricate and emotional journey with some "bad people" who are s*** on and discarded (a theme that resonates in my soul). The studio cut is not my movie. Read that again." Continue Reading at GameSpot |
Expect Halo Infinite Beta's To Have Hiccups -- Known Issues So Far Posted: 29 Jul 2021 03:44 PM PDT 343 Industries wants fans to remember that the Halo Infinite technical test is, as the name implies, a technical test. This is not the same as a game launch nor a beta meant to function as a demo, so there will be hiccups. Those started on launch day with a bumpier-than-intended rollout, but the Halo Infinite beta is now live, though there are issues to be aware of. "As we are all eager and increasingly impatient, just a friendly PSA this is a technical test at a scale unlike anything we've done to date," Halo community director Brian Jarrard wrote in a Twitter thread. "Driven by production. Not a game launch. Things are proceeding but there are many steps to navigate." "Also a great scale test for our systems as we've seen Waypoint load dramatically increasing. Team has already been able to work out additional deployments but it'll likely get bumpy when everyone slams the site for their messages, please bear with us." Continue Reading at GameSpot |
