Random: Someone Worked On Outer Worlds AND Outer Wilds At The Same Time, Somehow

Posted: 30 Jul 2021 01:00 PM PDT

"I am chaos incarnate".

A while back, writer and narrative designer Kelsey Beachum was working on Outer Wilds, the fantastic space-adventure game with a very cool twist that we won't spoil (just play it when it comes to Switch!). When The Outer Worlds — Obsidian's "Fallout in space" game — came out a few months later, people were very confused, including many journalists who constantly had to check if it was the i one or the o one (and it's never the one you think).

Luckily, Beachum had an answer:

You Can Now Own The Bike From Pokémon Red, But You're Not Allowed To Ride It

Posted: 30 Jul 2021 11:30 AM PDT

Not much of a bike then, is it.

This isn't the time to use that!

Professor Oak's words have never been so true. The Pokémon Company, in celebration of reaching a million Twitter followers on their Japanese "Poké Times" account, has decided to make a one-of-a-kind replica of the iconic, expensive bike from Pokémon Red and Blue. In the games, it cost one million Pokédollars to buy, unless you had a bike voucher, which you could get from the Pokémon Fan Club chairman.

Soapbox: In Praise Of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Two Years On

Posted: 30 Jul 2021 11:00 AM PDT

Support systems have never meant more.

This past week marked the second anniversary of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, the latest entry in Intelligent Systems' popular tactics series. Ten years ago, you would've been forgiven for believing that the Fire Emblem series was going the way of the dinosaur, and yet Three Houses now sits at somewhere around 3 million units sold, following the success of three (well, sort of five) critically acclaimed 3DS entries. It may not be as widely appealing as Animal Crossing or as outwardly exciting as Monster Hunter, but let's take a brief moment to reflect on why we connected so strongly with the franchise's latest outing.

Three Houses actually began as a 3DS title before it was planned for the Switch, and that shift in development brought with it greater expectations. As the first new entry on a home console in over a decade, Three Houses needed to deliver a little something more to justify the jump to better hardware. Just adding better graphics and flashier battles to the old foundations wouldn't cut it, so Intelligent Systems needed something that would prove the series had evolved beyond its humble origins.

Meet The Quirky Alien Enemies In No More Heroes 3

Posted: 30 Jul 2021 08:00 AM PDT

Certainly not for kids.

No More Heroes 3 is only a month away, but much of the promotion for the game in recent weeks has been targeting the Japanese market. Nintendo of Europe is now pitching in, though, with an 'Alien Superheroes?' trailer that introduces some of the wacky enemies Travis will take on.

It's not embedded above because it's age-gated (no doubt it'll be ripped and re-uploaded without one but that's not the point), so there's a bit of swearing and adult humour to bear in mind. It's a mature rated game so this isn't exactly surprising; if you want to watch it you'll need to head to its YouTube page and login.

King's Bounty II Gameplay Trailer Shows Off Key Choices For Progress

Posted: 30 Jul 2021 07:00 AM PDT

More than one way to win a battle.

King's Bounty II isn't far off release, landing on Switch and assorted platforms on 24th August. It's a long awaited successor in a series that is turn-based fantasy RPG royalty, and we're hopeful that the Switch version will be well worth playing.

1C Entertainment has released an extensive gameplay trailer that you can watch above - this footage will likely be from an optimal PC build, of course. It highlights the blend between turn-based battles and third-person exploration, as you explore to pick up quests and then determine your approach prior to jumping into the actual conflict.

Review: Blaster Master Zero 3 - A Masterful Conclusion To The Trilogy

Posted: 30 Jul 2021 06:00 AM PDT

What a blast.

Few could've guessed that a Blaster Master reimagining would've been one of the standout releases of the Switch launch window line-up, yet Blaster Master Zero proved to be a potently enjoyable take on the retro classic. Then, a couple of years later, Inti Creates opted to follow it up with an all-new sequel that built upon the ideas that were explored in the first entry. All good things must come to an end, however, as the team has now put out a final entry to close out the trilogy with a bang. Luckily for us, Blaster Master Zero 3 showcases the developers' absolute mastery of old-school platforming design; this is one that you definitely won't want to miss.

The story of Blaster Master Zero 3 hits the ground running, picking up shortly after the end of its predecessor. There are tough circumstances for our protagonists, and the world is seemingly falling apart at the seams as cracks are beginning to form in the fabric of reality, granting passageway into the dangerous mutant dimension. Of course, it doesn't take long for Jason to find his way into the driver's seat of the G-SOPHIA SV tank, which he intends to use to get to the bottom of the interdimensional chaos.

Marvelous Shares A Look At The Less Glamorous Jobs In No More Heroes 3

Posted: 30 Jul 2021 03:00 AM PDT

Toilets aren't just for saving any more...

No More Heroes 3 will no doubt have certain key features - hyper violent levels in which you wipe out minions, tough boss battles, and menial jobs. A familiar gag in the series is that Travis Touchdown has to make ends meet, one way or another, and often does this with undesirable work.

Publisher Marvelous has shared another video through its Japanese Twitter account, in this case fixing a broken toilet and mowing a lawn; motion controls are involved, of course.
