The Forgotten City Review - Seven Deadly Sins Posted: 17 Aug 2021 11:14 AM PDT In the years prior to Julius Caesar's rule of ancient Rome, the legions of the empire were led by a wealthy general known as Marcus Crassus. He was infamous for many things, one of which was his revival of decimation--a harrowing means to control the army by punishing the collective for the actions of singular dissidents. Soldiers were divided into groups of ten, where each would draw stones. The one unfortunate enough to draw a white one would be beaten to death by the remaining nine, regardless of their involvement in any crimes against the empire. It instilled not only fear, but a strong sense of responsibility among the legions of soldiers, who quickly learned to self-discipline in the face of such punishment. The Forgotten City, a narrative puzzle game that started out as a Skyrim mod, uses the principle of decimation as its basis. It's an anecdote used to describe the game's most prominent mechanic, The Golden Rule, which is an ever-present threat to the small community trapped in a desolate and secluded city deep in the Roman mountains. A god watching over the community threatens to turn everyone into gold should anyone commit a sin. In theory this should lead to a utopia, a land where its people are forced into peaceful co-existence through the persistent threat of imminent and absolute destruction. But it's not long before you realize that the ideals of right and wrong, and, more importantly, who defines them, allow the definitions of sin to be bent and stretched in creative and cruel ways. Not long after the game's opening, you're teleported back in time to this ancient city and caught within the web of its passive aggressive personalities and bubbling politics. The magistrate of the society is the only one aware of who you are, tasking you with using an infinite time loop to figure out who will eventually break The Golden Rule and stop them before it happens. This also turns out to be the only way that you can get back to your time, motivating you to get very familiar with each of the city's varied inhabitants and decipher who might be on the verge of teasing out the apocalypse. Each loop is an opportunity to learn more about each citizen through dialogue, deciphering what their daily routines are, which other citizens they're bound to interact with, and which of their problems you can potentially solve. Eventually each day comes to an end, bringing about the fruition of The Golden Rule and forcing you to sprint towards the shrine you entered through to start the day over again. Kevin Feige Clarifies "Experiment" Comments About Shang-Chi Posted: 17 Aug 2021 10:13 AM PDT
Last week, Disney CEO Bob Chapek responded to a question during a Disney investor's call, regarding the planned release of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. In his answer, Chapek explained that Shang-Chi was "an interesting experiment" for Disney because it would only be exclusively released in the theatrical window for 45 days. This meant that the movie would presumably make the jump to the Disney+ streaming service just 45 days after its scheduled theatrical debut on September 3. The comments, however, were not taken as such by many people online, including the film's star Simu Liu, who took to social media to express his frustration. "We are not an experiment," Liu stated. How To Fix A Nintendo Switch That Won't Charge Posted: 17 Aug 2021 09:35 AM PDT Every game console is prone to technical issues, despite how much care we may take when using them, and the Nintendo Switch is no exception. One of the more common problems that system owners have encountered is that their Switch won't charge, even when plugged in. If you're currently experiencing this issue, here are some ways to potentially fix a Switch that won't charge. How to fix a Switch that won't charge![]() 1. Check the AC adapterIf your Switch isn't charging, the first and most obvious thing to do is to check if the AC adapter is plugged into the wall outlet properly. While you're at it, check the adapter for any visible signs of damage like cuts or frays. If the adapter is damaged, you'll need to order a replacement. You can do so from Nintendo's online store, where the company sells brand-new adapters for $30 USD each. You can also get them on Amazon for half the price from a well-reviewed third-party brand. 2. Unplug the AC adapterIf your AC adapter isn't damaged, try unplugging it from the wall outlet as well as from the Switch dock. Leave the adapter unplugged for at least 30 seconds, then plug it back in and see if your Switch starts charging again. Continue Reading at GameSpot |

Crysis 2 Remastered On PS5 Runs At 60fps, Won't Have Ray Tracing Posted: 17 Aug 2021 09:12 AM PDT Crysis 2 and 3 Remastered are set to release this fall, and now fans can take a first-look at the new-and-improved Crysis 2 running on PlayStation 5, courtesy of a new video from Digital Foundry. The game will run at close to a locked 60 frames-per-second at 1440p native resolution on PS5, with Digital Foundry noting that they expect a higher resolution to be possible on the Xbox Series X. A Nintendo Switch version of Crysis 2 and 3 Remastered is said to run at a stable 30fps. Digital Foundry notes that the development of the remastered games has undergone some changes. While developer Saber Interactive is still in charge, they are working more closely with Crytek to "better realize the potential of the project." It should also be noted that Digital Foundry itself consulted on the project by looking at early builds of the game and offering feedback, which it did free of charge. Continue Reading at GameSpot |
Mark Wahlberg And Kevin Hart Will Star In A Netflix Comedy Together Posted: 17 Aug 2021 09:11 AM PDT Mark Wahlberg and Kevin Hart are two of the biggest names in Hollywood, but they have never worked together. Venom 2 Cast May Include JK Simmons, According To Movie Theater Listing Posted: 17 Aug 2021 09:04 AM PDT Venom: Let There Be Carnage might have an extra cameo lurking on the set, as UK cinema chain Vue has included actor JK Simmons' name in the cast page for the upcoming sequel, as spotted by GamesRadar. Simmons played the editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle newspaper in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, and had a small cameo in 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home as a new incarnation of the character who's constantly demanding to see pictures of the web-slinger. While it could be a simple mistake on Vue's part, there have been a few clues spotted in the marketing for Venom so far. The Daily Bugle newspaper was spotted in one of the trailers for the film, while Sony's other Spider-Man spin-off Morbius has a Far From Home Easter egg that might be a reference to the death of Mysterio. Venom 2 director Andy Serkis has deflected any Marvel multiversal theories, claiming that Venom 2 exists in its "own world" for now. There have been rumors that Simmons is reprising his role, once again, of Jameson for Venom 2, but there has been no confirmation of Jameson's return or Simmons' involvement with the upcoming film as of this writing. On the Marvel Cinematic Universe side, that reality is about to get much bigger. Loki ended its first season with the formation of a multiverse, Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch will explore those alternate realities in a Sam Raimi-directed film, and the animated What If…? series kicked off with a look at a world where Peggy Carter got a super-soldier upgrade instead of Steve Rogers. Fortnite Impostors Mode Is A Lore Goldmine, But Is It Canon? Posted: 17 Aug 2021 08:53 AM PDT Fortnite is certified sus this week with the introduction of its new Impostors mode, which aims to take on Among Us. The new game mode is quickly gaining traction among the millions who play Fortnite every week, and it's not just because it offers a more polished take on the game's fanmade limited-time mode (LTM) from Christmas last year, The Spy Within. Players are dissecting the new map and its lore items scattered within the confines of this new social deduction mode, and it seems Epic may be using the mode to fill in some holes in the island's backstory.
