Pokemon Home Support For Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Coming In 2022

Posted: 18 Aug 2021 09:53 AM PDT

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl and Pokemon Legends: Arceus will be compatible with Pokemon Home, but not at launch. Near the end of the latest Pokemon Presents stream, The Pokemon Company confirmed that support for the upcoming Switch games will be added to Pokemon Home sometime in 2022.

Once support has been implemented, you'll be able to transfer Pokemon you caught in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl and Pokemon Legends: Arceus and store them in Pokemon Home. Beyond that, however, details are scant. It remains unclear if transfers will be one-way, as they are with Pokemon Go, or if you'll be able to bring compatible Pokemon you've caught in other games from Home into Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl or Legends.

Like Pokemon Bank for 3DS, Pokemon Home is a cloud service that lets you store Pokemon you've caught in different games in one place and move them between titles. The service has free and paid plans. The latter costs $16 USD annually and offers more benefits, including significantly more storage capacity, a Judge function that lets you see a Pokemon's base stats, and the ability to transfer monsters from Pokemon Bank.

Life Is Strange: True Colors Gameplay Revealed

Posted: 18 Aug 2021 09:51 AM PDT

The first gameplay video for Life is Strange: True Colors has been revealed. Showing off a moment from the story of Alex Chen, the video showcases some of the interactions you can expect from the game. Oh, and a very good cat makes an appearance, too.

Life is Strange: True Colors is the third main entry in the series of interactive narrative-centric games, and it focuses on Alex's quest to use her psychic abilities to unravel the mystery of her brother's fate. The first video shows about 13 minutes from early in the game, centering on a scene in a record store. You can see the full demo in the embed below.

As with all of the Life is Strange games, the gameplay of True Colors is primarily based on dialogue trees and some basic exploration and interaction with environments. The video shows some light puzzle-solving, like encouraging the store's resident feline to move. It also demonstrates the core supernatural mechanic in the game, which is Alex's use of her empathic powers. Basically, she can perceive strong emotions as auras around other characters and can perceive ways to help them feel better, but she is forced to simultaneously feel those emotions.

New WoW Classic Test Realm Has Players Speculating Fresh Servers Could Be On The Way

Posted: 18 Aug 2021 09:22 AM PDT

Blizzard has silently released a new public test realm of World of Warcraft Classic with little fanfare, causing players to speculate on what, exactly, the realm is supposed to be testing. Many players are hoping it's "fresh" servers for WoW Classic.

The test realm currently only includes raid content from WoW Classic's first phase, although it does include more recent updates to the game, like the ability to purchase a world-buff saving item from Chromie that didn't exist in the original version of vanilla WoW but was added prior to Burning Crusade Classic's release. The arrival of the new test realm has players speculating it could be a sign that Blizzard is looking to roll out brand-new servers for WoW Classic where players can start their adventure into Azeroth all over again from scratch.

Currently, WoW Classic servers are a ghost town. Blizzard required players to decide between playing in what it now calls "Classic Era" servers or moving forward to the game's first expansion, Burning Crusade Classic, back in June, and it seems the majority of players chose to continue on into Outland over staying in Azeroth. But there is still a dedicated community of players who prefer WoW Classic to Burning Crusade.

Twelve Minutes Review

Posted: 18 Aug 2021 09:00 AM PDT

Twelve Minutes is a point-and-click adventure in a clockwork world that's as expertly crafted as a Swiss watch. Andrew played six hours of Twelve Minutes, eventually breaking the loop. Code was provided by the publisher.

12 Minutes Review -- Loop Anti-Heroes

Posted: 18 Aug 2021 09:00 AM PDT

12 Minutes is the time-loop story reduced to its very essence. It is spare in length and small in scope, taking place almost entirely within a one-bedroom apartment. But that smallness contains narrative and mechanical multitudes that pay off consistently over the course of 12 Minutes' six-hour runtime.

I say "almost entirely" because, as the game begins, its unnamed protagonist (voiced by James McAvoy) rides the elevator up to that apartment. The hallway between the elevator and the apartment door--eerily carpeted with the autumnal pattern from The Shining's Overlook Hotel--serves as a brief tutorial: learn to navigate from the game's top-down perspective, find a fake rock in the potted plant outside the apartment, use the fake rock to find the key within, take that key and use it on the door. It's a short but effective introduction to the point-and-click-style mechanics on display here. 12 Minutes is mechanically rich because it leans into this old school kind of adventuring that encourages creative thinking. There aren't many objects in the apartment, but those that are there can often be combined in fun and surprising ways.

Once inside the apartment, our protagonist is greeted by his wife (Daisy Ridley), who has set out some fake candles, prepared dessert, and wrapped a present. It's a romantic evening, but there's a storm brewing just outside. That weather event--which your character will take note of if you interact with any of the windows in the apartment--is a fitting metaphor for the turn your pleasant evening is about to take. Midway through dinner, a mysterious man (Willem Dafoe) shows up at the door, claiming to be police. You can let him in, or wait for him to kick down the door. No matter what you do, he will enter your apartment, bind you both with flex cuffs, and kill you. Then, the loop restarts and you're stumbling into your apartment, warmly lit for that romantic dinner you'll never get to finish.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Introduces Yet Another Pokemon With A Messed-Up Backstory

Posted: 18 Aug 2021 07:35 AM PDT

A Pokemon game wouldn't be complete without it sticking to elements that have made the franchise a household name for more than two decades: exploring a strange new land, battling a nefarious organization that plans to use Pokemon for world domination, and of course, discovering Pokemon that have absolutely horrifying origin stories.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus has a prime example of that last point, as the ancient Sinnoh region--known as the Hisui region in this game--features a Basculin which has succumbed to the influence of its dead comrades and evolved into a much more ferocious form called Basculegion.

"Basculin in the Hisui region can evolve into this Pokémon," Nintendo's official Basculegion synopsis reads. "This evolution occurs when a Basculin is possessed by the souls of other Basculin from its school that could not withstand the harsh journey upstream. Basculegion fights together with these souls, which attack opponents as if with a will of their own. This Pokémon gains power from the souls possessing it, letting it swim on and on without tiring."

Marvel's Eternals Unveils Vibrant New Character Posters

Posted: 18 Aug 2021 07:29 AM PDT

Marvel has released a series of character posters for Eternals, which will be out in the real world as Entertainment Weekly covers. The images pair with a cover story that offer a few new details about production for the film, which is due to hit theaters on November 5.

While a trailer was recently released, plot details are still pretty light. However, director Chloe Zhao (Nomadland) told EW that she "pushed Marvel to leave the blue screens in the studio and film on location as much as possible." There's one scene when the super team lands on Earth in 5,000 BC, and the cast and crew hiked to rugged cliffs in the Canary Islands, Zhao called "probably the windiest cliff that I have ever been on… you'd have to have a helicopter to achieve the wind that we had that day." Zhao recalls being overcome with emotion, seeing the whole ensemble in an ancient-looking landscape--being both unable to stand due to her excitement, and the wind. We are not liable if the images below have the same effect on you, though you have been warned!

When Marvel's Eternals was first announced as coming to the MCU, studio president Kevin Feige described the tone as being "full Jack Kirby," referring to the famed comic book artist/writer's unique and colorful cosmic art style, and described the characters as "a group of immortals who have been on earth for 35,000 years, but we haven't met them before."

The Sopranos Star James Gandolfini "Scared The Living S***" Out Of Robert Patrick

Posted: 18 Aug 2021 07:09 AM PDT

Actor Robert Patrick has revealed the time that Sopranos star James Gandolfini terrified him on the set of the classic TV show. Patrick was a guest on the Talking Sopranos podcast, which is hosted by Sopranos actors Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa.

Terminator 2 star Patrick played the character David Scatino in three episodes of The Sopranos Season 3, back in 2000. In one scene, Tony Soprano, played by Gandolfini, has to physically assault Scatino in order to get some money he is owed. Via Insider, Patrick revealed that he had never met Gandolfini before the day they rehearsed this scene and was told by producers to "provoke" Gandolfini ahead of shooting.

As a result, Patrick told Gandolfini that he "better bring your f***ing A-game," to the scene, to which Gandolfini replied, "Oh, I'll bring my f***ing A-game."

Pokemon Diamond And Pearl Remakes Show Off New And Improved Gameplay Features

Posted: 18 Aug 2021 06:51 AM PDT

During today's Pokemon Presents showcase, Nintendo revealed more details on its upcoming remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. While Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl don't stray too far from the traditional pocket monster formula, they do have a few modern updates pulled from more recent games in the series like Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Customization appears to play a big part in the game, as Poke Balls can be tweaked to feature new effects whenever you summon Pokemon, and trainers can don fashionable gear during their journey.

Another touch of customization allows for a Pokemon to be let out of its Poke Ball and follow a player around as they explore Sinnoh's various locations. One example of this was seen in the trailer when Riolu kept pace with a player by doing a Naruto-style ninja run.
