New Pokemon Sword And Shield Max Raid Event Now Live, Features Shiny Chandelure Posted: 20 Aug 2021 10:15 AM PDT A new Max Raid event is underway in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Until August 22, you'll be able to encounter certain Ghost Pokemon in Max Raid dens across both games, including Gigantamax Gengar and Shiny Chandelure. Throughout the event, Drifblim, Chandelure, Gengar, and their pre-evolved forms will be appearing more frequently in Max Raids across the Wild Area, Isle of Armor, and Crown Tundra. You'll also have a chance to find Gigantamax Gengar and Shiny Chandelure in five-star Max Raids. These two, however, will be much rarer, so you'll need to check Max Raids often if you're hoping to catch them. The ghost-themed Max Raid event runs until 4:59 PM PT / 7:59 PM ET / 11:59 PM UTC on Sunday, August 22. Before you can participate, you'll need to refresh your Max Raid dens. You can do so either by connecting your game online via the Y-Comm, or by going into the Mystery Gift menu and selecting Get the Wild Area News. Continue Reading at GameSpot |

Crysis 3 Runs At 30FPS On Switch According To Digital Foundry Report Posted: 20 Aug 2021 09:50 AM PDT In an exclusive report, the techies at Digital Foundry have been able to tear down Crytek's upcoming remaster of Crysis 3. The report centers around the version of the game coming to the platform it will struggle the most on, the Nintendo Switch. However, according to Digital Foundry's report, Crysis 3 Remastered's port to the Switch is a significant upgrade from its original release, even hitting a steady 30 frames-per-second on the console. On the PS3 and Xbox 360, which Crysis 3 was originally released on, the game hardly broke the 30fps mark according to Digital Foundry's report. Instead, it jumped around the 20s, sometimes dipping as low as 25fps. Back then, the game would compensate for its low frame rate by masking it with egregious motion blur. Comparatively, Crysis 3 Remastered hits a constant 30fps on Switch, while the game's current-gen versions both hit a constant 60fps. Similarly, Crysis 3 Remastered on Switch will feature some other graphical improvements over its original release. The game will have dynamic resolution, ensuring that it keeps that constant 30fps, although it's not clear how low the game's resolution will go. Additionally, textures in Crysis 3 Remastered are being rendered at a higher setting and the density of other materials, like grass, have been increased. Continue Reading at GameSpot |
Destiny 2 Adds Bungie Names For Cross-Play In Season Of The Lost Posted: 20 Aug 2021 09:00 AM PDT Destiny 2's cross-play will be available in Season 15, named Season of the Lost. In the This Week At Bungie post, the developer listed some reminders for players concerning Bungie Names starting next season with cross-play. The username on the platform the player first logs in to Season 15 with will become that player's Bungie Name. For example, if someone logs on to Destiny 2 in Season of the Lost on their PlayStation, the username on that platform will become their Bungie Name overall. Name changes won't be available at the start of the season either. If players have a preferred platform name, they should hop into Destiny 2 first on that platform to create their Bungie Name. ![]() For players using Steam, their profile name will be their Bungie Name. Keep in mind that this is not referring to the Steam account name, just the profile name. Continue Reading at GameSpot |
New WoW Character Creation Options Are Coming Earlier Than Expected Posted: 20 Aug 2021 08:42 AM PDT World of Warcraft: Shadowlands introduced numerous new character creation options for many of the game's playable races, but a few, specifically the Horde's Nightborne and the Alliance's Light Forged Draenei, were left out. Now, thanks to what Blizzard is calling "passionate feedback" about the issue, new customization options will be coming sooner for those races than expected. Back in February during BlizzConline, Blizzard said no additional character customizations would be coming until the game's unannounced next expansion. That will no longer be the case, with new options instead coming as part of Shadowlands' 9.1.5 patch. The new options will include new hair styles, colors, facial hair, skin colors, horns, accessories, tail length, tattoos, and more. Void elves will be receiving more ear-size options, and there are plans for additional Druid travel forms and Night Fae soulshapes as well. Continue Reading at GameSpot |

Destiny 2's Season Of The Lost Will See The Return Of Mara Sov Posted: 20 Aug 2021 07:56 AM PDT After being accidentally leaked by Razer, Bungie has confirmed that Destiny 2 will see the return of Mara Sov in Season 15. Titled Season of the Lost, Mara's return ties into a long story that has been playing out ever since her supposed death in 2015's The Taken King expansion for the original Destiny and her handful of appearances from Destiny 2's Forsaken expansion onwards. What's also interesting in the tweet from Bungie is that Sov is flanked by Osiris, who was last seen being accused of war crimes against the Eliksni in the Last City. Continue Reading at GameSpot |
PlayStation Exclusive Wild Has Reportedly Been Canceled Posted: 20 Aug 2021 07:53 AM PDT The PlayStation 4 exclusive, Wild, has reportedly been canceled. First spotted by VGC, Grubb said on his Giant Bomb series Grubbsnax yesterday that Wild Sheep Studio has stopped working on the project, several months after former studio head Michel Ancel retired from the games industry. Ancel previously worked on titles like Rayman and Beyond Good & Evil. "I can confirm that game is fully done. There is no Wild anymore… Wild is dead," explained Grubb. He notes that he believes Ancel just abandoned the project and as a result, it got shuttered. Grubb said, "The team that was working on it was looking at maybe trying to stay together and work on other projects." Grubb adds that he doesn't know what exactly had happened. The studio simply stated to him, "We're not working on Wild anymore, but we do have a lot of talent here, so maybe we can work on some stuff." Continue Reading at GameSpot |
Saints Row Reboot Teased For Gamescom Reveal Posted: 20 Aug 2021 07:47 AM PDT Deep Silver has started teasing a new entry in the Saints Row franchise, likely to be revealed at Gamescom next week. The teaser includes a none-too-subtle hint that it will be a reboot. The official Saints Row site now simply has a large banner that says "Rebooting" in graffiti with the Saints logo. Geoff Keighley, host of Gamescom Opening Night Live, also issued a tweet with the teaser image, and a reference to the Boss--the usual player-created protagonist of Saints Row games. It's not much to go on, but given the reference to a reboot, it will remain to be seen how much (if any) connection this has to the current Saints Row franchise, which went in some wild directions with superpowers and even a trip to Hell in its final story DLC. Madden NFL 22 Review -- Momentum Shift Posted: 20 Aug 2021 07:35 AM PDT Seattle Seahawks fans have caused minor earthquakes in the past, such is the raucousness of the aptly named 12th Man. The crowd at CenturyLink Field has also earned two Guinness World Records for the loudest roar recorded at a sports stadium, once registering a deafening 137.6 decibels back in 2014. Of course, Seattle isn't the only city known for its boisterous fans and intimidating atmosphere, and this is reflected throughout the various stadiums in Madden NFL 22. After criticism that last year's game was light on new content--particularly as it relates to Franchise mode--developer EA Tiburon has introduced a number of sweeping changes this time around, with the crowd being the most prominent right out of the gate. The new Gameday Atmosphere feature brings crowds to life with new animations and remastered fan recordings that more accurately replicate what you're likely to see and hear on any given Sunday. It also extends beyond the cosmetic side, too, as the ball will fly further in Denver's high altitude, while the wind will play havoc with your field goal team in Chicago. On top of this, the intensity of the home fans will have an impact on the way games can play out. This feature is called Gameday Momentum, and it introduces a momentum meter to the top of the screen that will shift back and forth like a tug-of-war depending on the performance of each team. If momentum is on your side--because of a big sack or crucial touchdown, for instance--you'll gain access to various bonuses (called M-Factors) that give your team an edge in certain situations. This works in tandem with Gameday Atmosphere to ratchet up the significance of home field advantage, especially when playing in front of crowds known for their vociferousness. ![]() Gallery The aforementioned 12th Man of the Seattle Seahawks will cause the opposing team's pre-snap play art to be distorted on 3rd and 4th down, turning each receiver's route into a squiggly mess. Elsewhere, Vikings players will gain a small speed boost in the red zone when the "Skol" chant reverberates around the U.S. Bank Stadium. It looks and sounds a tad gamified on the surface, but Gameday Momentum and Atmosphere are crucial additions that capture the unique fandom of each team and accurately reflect the wild swings in momentum that can occur during the course of a heated football game. It gives rivalries that big game feel and intensifies those drives where the home fans are fervently working against you. The impact of home field advantage in the NFL is tangible, and can often be the difference between winning and losing, yet Madden 22 marks the first time the series has truly emulated such an integral part of the sport. Mike Richards Steps Down As Jeopardy Host Posted: 20 Aug 2021 07:22 AM PDT Mike Richards has stepped down as the new daily host of Jeopardy. Richards had been the center of controversy ever since he was announced as host last week. The announcement that Richards will no longer present the new season of the classic game show follows the backlash to a series of sexist, racist, and homophobic comments that he made on a podcast between 2013 and 2014. Richards is also Jeopardy's executive producer, and in a statement, he said that didn't want his past behavior to overshadow the show, which started production again this week. Read the full statement below, via writer Claire McNear:
It was McNear who broke the story about the comments that Richards made on the podcast The Randumb Show, in an article for Ringer. Richards issued an initial apology on Wednesday this week, stating, "It is humbling to confront a terribly embarrassing moment of misjudgment, thoughtlessness, and insensitivity from nearly a decade ago." However, the controversy was showing little signs of going away. Continue Reading at GameSpot |
Soulja Boy Doesn't Own Atari, Despite What He Told 'Em Posted: 20 Aug 2021 07:18 AM PDT Soujla Boy told 'em, but it wasn't the truth. Atari has set the record straight that rapper and cheap electronics reseller Soulja Boy is not actually the new owner of Atari, despite the claims he has made over the last few days. "I am now the owner of Atari. I own the video game company Atari," Soulja Boy (real name DeAndre Cortez Way) said in a video posted on YouTube. If that sounded too good to be true, it's because none of it is true, despite Soulja Boy wearing an Atari shirt and hat in the video. He claimed Atari was "proud" of him for his work on the Soujla Game console, which was very clearly a repackaged and marked-up knockoff system that included some legally nebulous elements. In a message spotted by Game Informer, the Atari Twitter account didn't directly mention Soulja Boy but very clearly referred to him: Continue Reading at GameSpot |
Ghost Of Tsushima: Iki Island Has Some Awesome PlayStation Easter Eggs Posted: 20 Aug 2021 06:12 AM PDT Ghost of Tsushima had a few nice little nods to the PlayStation games of old, especially toward the end of the original campaign. But with the Iki Island expansion that's part of Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, developer Sucker Punch Productions has left a few very big Easter eggs for PlayStation fans to find, and several come complete with their own puzzles and rewards. The three biggest Easter eggs reference some classic PlayStation exclusives: Shadow of the Colossus, Bloodborne, and 2018's God of War. Each has its own dedicated shrine you can find as you explore Iki Island, and each will reward you a cosmetic suit of armor that was previously only available in the Ghost of Tsushima's Legends mode, if you're willing to solve some puzzles (or look up their solutions). Here's a quick look at the Easter eggs you can find and the rewards you'll unlock if you manage to solve their puzzles. If you want to figure them out on your own, stop reading now. WarioWare: Get It Together Turns Plucking Armpit Hair Into A Party Game Experience Posted: 20 Aug 2021 06:00 AM PDT Where could WarioWare go after Gold? The 2018 3DS game acted as a sort of grand culmination for the series, combining the best microgames from across its many installments with a handful of new challenges and a plethora of extras. Rather than retread that same ground, the series' upcoming Switch installment, WarioWare: Get It Together, introduces a few interesting twists to the classic formula, making it more of a party experience. We recently got a chance to see more of WarioWare: Get It Together via a virtual preview event. Like previous entries, the title is comprised of more than 200 microgames--bite-sized challenges that are thrown at you in rapid-fire succession. These games run the gamut from silly to outright bizarre. One moment, you'll be shaking apples from a tree; the next, you'll be plucking hairs from a Greek god's underarms. This oddball humor has become one of the series' hallmarks, and even from our brief preview, it's clear that it's on full display in Get It Together. But while the microgames are all classic WarioWare fare, they offer a different experience here, thanks to the new focus on actually playing as the title characters. Unlike past games, you directly control Wario and company during microgames, using their abilities to clear the objective. Each character has a unique playstyle; Ashley the witch, for instance, can fly around on her broom and conjure spells from her wand, while Mona throws a boomerang that you guide around the screen using the control stick. You select three characters at the start of a round, with the game randomly cycling between them as you clear microgames. This adds a new dynamic to the games, as their challenge will depend on which character you're currently controlling. Ashley can make quick work of the aforementioned apple tree microgame by firing spells directly at the apples, for example, while someone like 9-Volt--who can only skate along the ground and flick his yo-yo vertically--will need to shake the tree's branches from beneath to dislodge the fruits. This is the final season of the show. The sequence shows a group of survivors, including Carol, Daryl, and Maggie, attempting to lift some bags from a room of sleeping zombies--known as Lurkers. Inevitably it goes wrong, and soon the undead are waking up all around our heroes. This kicks off a desperate battle to reach their helicopter while fighting off dozens of hungry walkers. Check it out below: This clip follows the Season 11 trailer, that was released during Comic-Con@Home last month.
