Running from today until Monday February 28th, there are hundreds of new indie games for you try during this week-long festival, and to help you get started we've put together some personal highlights of the best demos we've played so far. Whether you're after small, relaxing puzzle games or a new RTS to sink your teeth into, we've got you covered. |
Rainbow Six Siege's seventh year will bring three maps Posted: 21 Feb 2022 08:53 AM PST ![]() It's weird to remember that Rainbow Six Siege was initially a bit of a flop. But rather than shrug and instantly release a sequel, for once Ubisoft kept working on the multiplayer tactical FPS with updates and overhauls, and today it boasts PC player numbers four times higher than launch. Over the weekend, Ubisoft laid out their plans for Year 7 of content updates, including brand new maps for the first time in years. |
Super Auto Pets, my favourite auto-battler, is now on iOS Posted: 21 Feb 2022 08:12 AM PST ![]() Excellent auto-battler Super Auto Pets is now on iOS devices too, joining PC and Android version in making cute animals fight. It's a cracking little auto-battler, with simple art hiding pleasingly complex possibilities for fiendish builds. The free-to-play version is extremely generous, too. Highly recommended. |
Atlus announce Soul Hackers 2, coming to PC in August Posted: 21 Feb 2022 07:01 AM PST ![]() Almost as if Atlus had heard we were celebrating Souls Week on RPS, the Persona peeps today announced Soul Hackers 2. May I briefly say: hack the planet. Anyway, so, demons are kicking around again, and it'll be up to save the world from the apocalypse with the help of our own demons. Check out the RPG's announcement trailer below. |
Celebrate Elden Ring's release with Souls Week on RPS Posted: 21 Feb 2022 06:15 AM PST ![]() Welcome stranger! Stay a while, and listen. No wait. Err, RPS has wares if you have coin? Ugh, that's that other one as well. Aha! I have it! Praise the sun! Right, fellow gud gitters? Am I right?? Praise that sun real nice. Unless you've not looked at a calendar for the past year, or have been stuck in some sort of hellish nether-realm betwixt life and death (the lockdown jokes write themselves, I know), you'll know that FromSoftware's next punishing RPG Elden Ring is out on Friday. It's only February and yet we already have one of the most anticipated games of the year knocking on the door! To celebrate the newest addition to the Soulsborne family, we're using this week to post lots of cool articles about FromSoftware's lovely, grim, difficult games. That's right: welcome to Souls Week on RPS. |
The best bit of Dark Souls isn't the boss fights, it's everything else Posted: 21 Feb 2022 06:15 AM PST ![]() Everybody knows that the best bits of Soulsbornelikes are the bosses, right? There’s a reason why titles like Titan Souls exist, boss rush games that distil the experience into a pure form, rejecting all the faffing about in between. Your carefully honed skills are put to the test against imaginative and outrageous beasties in spectacular arenas. What could be better than that? Literally every other part of the game. |
Elden Ring's new trailer explains what it's all about Posted: 21 Feb 2022 03:44 AM PST ![]() Ah, Elden Ring. Some call it Old Band. Others, the Unbroken Promise. Others still, The Fool's Promise. There are some who call it... Tim? Ah, but what is Elden Ring, you ask? Who am I to reveal secrets many died failing to discover, and who are you to ask? A fool. Yet the era of Elden Ring shall begin on Friday, the day some call Frig's Day, or Freyja's Day, and fools who cannot wait can see a little more right now in a new six-minute "gameplay overview" trailer. Keh-heh-heh-heh... |
Street Fighter 6 announced, and Ryu is a broad and sweaty boy Posted: 21 Feb 2022 02:35 AM PST ![]() Six years after the debut of Street Fighter V, Capcom have finally announced Street Fighter 6. It has Ryu, it has Luke, and it has a lot of sweat. And that's about all we know for now. Check out the announcement trailer below. |
FAR: Changing Tides review: a delightful adventure you'll be glad you played Posted: 21 Feb 2022 12:00 AM PST ![]() The first FAR game, Lone Sails, was an unexpected wonder full of novelty and invention within the confines of a little cinematic platformer. As with the previous entry, FAR: Changing Tides tasks you with scurrying around a hulking vessel to manage the various contraptions that keep it moving. Only this time, instead of a strange land sail-train, you've a slightly more conventional submersible house boat. |
