Here's Your First Look At The Switch Box Art For Splatoon 3 Posted: 22 Apr 2022 06:30 PM PDT Launching this September. Nintendo yesterday confirmed the upcoming squid-shooter Splatoon 3 would be "inkoming" this September on the Switch. Alongside this, we also got a brand new trailer, showcasing an extended look at Turf War. That's not all, though. In addition to this, Nintendo has now also shared the official North American game box art. It's got a similar look to the first two games. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Super Nintendo World Visitors In Japan Can Now Rent Switch Docks In Their Hotels Posted: 22 Apr 2022 12:30 PM PDT Hotel Mario. Holidays are great and all, but when you have to go back to the hotel at the end of the day, it's a bit of a bummer to not be able to boot up a nice game of Mario Party Superstars on the bedroom TV — unless you've brought your Nintendo Switch dock with you, but why would you waste precious luggage space on a dock when you can fill it with Mario plushies from Super Nintendo World instead? Nintendo clearly knows the issue here is the hotel not having any docks, and so they've partnered with a handful of hotels near to Universal Studios Japan (where Super Nintendo World is) to offer a dock rental service. Visitors can rent the dock, a high-speed HDMI cable, and the Nintendo Switch AC adapter at the following hotels, starting April 23rd: Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Historic Village Remains Found On Nintendo Museum Construction Site Posted: 22 Apr 2022 12:00 PM PDT Now THAT is history. Last Summer Nintendo announced plans for a Nintendo Gallery, a museum of sorts that will "share Nintendo's product development history and philosophy with the public". It's using the site of a now out-of-use manufacturing facility, which was also used for product repairs before seeing its workload shifted elsewhere; you can see a concept image for the facility above. Nintendo Of America Criticised Over Treatment Of Part-Time And Contract Workers Posted: 22 Apr 2022 11:30 AM PDT "I feel like I hit a glass ceiling where my input no longer mattered". Earlier this week it emerged that Nintendo of America and recruitment company Aston Carter have been named in a workers' rights complaint; the complaint alleges actions such as 'discharge' from employment and 'coercive statements'. Nintendo of America issued a response saying that the worker in question was "a contractor who was previously terminated for the disclosure of confidential information". Now an extensive report has been shared by Kotaku, in which it speaks to current and former Nintendo employees about working conditions, with a focus on part-time and contract workers. Video: This Elden Ring Game Boy Demake Will Be Playable On Real Hardware Posted: 22 Apr 2022 11:00 AM PDT You died, in the palm of your hands. So the big video game of the first few months of 2022, Elden Ring, has already seen the demake treatment this year in the form of a lovely-looking PlayStation recreation (which our friends at Push Square covered). But that was just the trailer. Someone has been brave enough to make a playable demake of FromSoftware's absolute masterpiece — but not on the hardware you were expecting. On Reddit, user -shin- has shared a project that they're currently working on — a fully-playable demake of Elden Ring for Game Boy. Created using GB Studio 3.0, they plan to at least finish up to the end of the Limgrave area by the end of May. We can't imagine they'll recreate the entire game (have you seen how big Elden Ring is), but that would be mighty impressive? Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Former Joy-Con Drift Repairs Supervisor Says Work Volume Was "Very Stressful" Posted: 22 Apr 2022 10:30 AM PDT "Easily thousands of Joy-Cons were coming through each week". Joy-Con drift sucks. Many of us have had it, and we're sure many of us have had to contact Nintendo to send it off to get repaired. But did you know Nintendo itself doesn't handle the repairs? Kotaku has investigated the process of getting your Joy-Cons repaired if they get the dreaded drift. It has traced the service back to a company called United Radio, with a repair shop in Syracuse, New York. Nintendo is the face of the repairs, but United is the actual hands fixing your Joy-Cons. Poll: Which Wii Sport Is The Best Wii Sport In Wii Sports (And Which Is The Worst)? Posted: 22 Apr 2022 10:00 AM PDT The oui sports and the non sports. Here's a fun little exercise: When you think of Wii Sports, which sport do you think of first? For me, it's Bowling. I got really good at lining up the ball just right to always get a strike, which is a far cry from my real-life bowling ability (which usually includes a lot of gutterballs). I only vaguely remember the others, although Tennis was quite fun until we learned the perils of flailing around in a relatively small living room. But that's not the case for everyone! Perhaps you enjoyed using the Nunchuk and the Wiimote together under the tutelage of Matt in Wii Boxing, or you like the sedate, focused game of Wii Golf. Or maybe you're the only person in the world who thought Wii Baseball was a jolly good time! Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
'Sociable Soccer', Sensible Soccer's Spiritual Successor, Scores A November Switch Release Posted: 22 Apr 2022 09:30 AM PDT To coincide with the World Cup. Football is finally coming home! Tower Studios and Kiss Publishing will be releasing Sociable Soccer on Switch — and other consoles — in November of this year. That might seem like a pretty long wait for a game that first appeared playable on Switch way back in 2017, but it's the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in November, which means that this was totally planned all along! This mobile action arcade soccer game will see you challenging friends and players all over the world to sporting greatness. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Video: Let's Talk About Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Posted: 22 Apr 2022 08:45 AM PDT It's Alex and Felix time. We can't stop talking about Xenoblade Chronicles 3 here at Nintendo Life. So we're going to keep doing it, because why wouldn't we when the game looks so good? Its brand new 29th July release has us scrambling to beat our copies of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 before this date — totally possible, right? Who needs sleep? It's certainly a task the lovely Alex and Felix over on our video team might be joining us in. The pair have gotten together to discuss all of the new information and hash out their feelings on the latest trailer, the battle system, and Monolith Soft's desire to double down on their busy UIs! Random: Devolver Cheekily Prods Sega Over Sonic Origins Pre-Orders Posted: 22 Apr 2022 07:45 AM PDT To promote Trek to Yomi. Ahhh, you can always count on Devolver Digital to take the bull by the horns and have fun with any kind of situation. And this time, Sega is the butt of the joke. Earlier this week, Sega's long-awaiting Sonic compilation, Sonic Origins, got an official release date of 23rd June after a few days of leaks. And while some people were excited, it was hard to ignore the messy pre-order chart that Sega created for the collection. Luckily, we've got a handy little guide to break it all down for you, but we also want to know what you think of this bizarre move from Sega: Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Two Point Campus Reveals Wizardry Course, Open For Admissions At Launch Posted: 22 Apr 2022 07:05 AM PDT Sign up to get started on 8th August. While we need to wait a little bit longer to enroll in Two Point Campus following its delay from May to August, Two Point Studio is ensuring that we're champing at the bit to get classes in session. Today, the studio has revealed a brand new class that you can get students signing up for and starting from day one, and it's something we absolutely wish we could study at school — Wizardry! Review: Zombie Army 4: Dead War - A Sweet Switch Port For This Schlockiest Of Shooters Posted: 22 Apr 2022 07:00 AM PDT Dead good. Rebellion has got a pretty great track record when it comes to porting its schlocky range of shooters over to Nintendo Switch, with both Zombie Army Trilogy and Sniper Elite 4 the most recent examples of how this developer manages to successfully squeeze a whole lot of slo-mo headshots, shambling zombie hordes and co-operative carnage onto the diminutive console without sacrificing too much in the way of performance or playability. Zombie Army 4: Dead War is the studio's latest bombastic offering, a game that's been available on other platforms since February of 2020, and it's one the team found to be its toughest assignment to date in terms of getting it up and running within the rather restrictive memory limitations on Switch. We're not surprised, this is a big old action-packed game after all, and we were a tad concerned at hearing about the technical struggles in the build-up to our review period. As it turns out, we needn't have worried at all, as Rebellion has continued its streak here with another solid port that serves up a great big bloody feast of Nazi zombie-slaying action. The SNES Classic Is The UK's King Of The Micro-Consoles Posted: 22 Apr 2022 06:45 AM PDT N64 Mini when, Nintendo? Prior to the arrival of the Switch, one of the most exciting developments in the world of Nintendo hardware was the NES Classic, a micro-console filled with 8-bit titles that made the company a tidy sum of cash. It was quickly followed by the SNES Classic Edition – not to mention similar products from the likes of Sega, Konami, SNK and Sony – and more recently we've seen the A500 Mini hit store shelves. Our friends over at GamesIndustry.biz have been breaking down some data provided by GfK to see how these unique pieces of hardware have fared in the UK marketplace. It should come as no great shock to learn that Nintendo takes the top two places thanks to the SNES and NES Classic Editions, while Sony's much-maligned PlayStation Classic is in third. Sega's excellent Mega Drive / Genesis Mini is in fourth place, followed by the Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros, which is included in this list by the virtue of it being a 'retro' console. Capcom Confirms Next Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak 'News Reveal' For May Posted: 22 Apr 2022 06:00 AM PDT You can officially rule out a digital event for April, then. In mid-March we had a Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Digital Event, which confirmed a release date for the 'massive expansion' along with new footage and reveals. Random: Have A Listen To Nintendo Switch Sports' Main Theme Posted: 22 Apr 2022 05:30 AM PDT Retains that Wii Sports vibe. Nintendo is cranking up its advertising for next week's Nintendo Switch Sports. Makes sense — this is their Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort successor, and a lot of people are rightfully excited. One of Wii Sports' most defining parts is its iconic title screen music. It's an absolute jam, and we challenge you not to get nostalgic over it. Nintendo UK is hoping they'll be able to capture that same magic again with the main theme of their upcoming sports game. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Random: Chrono Cross Director Rereleased Radical Dreamers To Stop Scalpers Posted: 22 Apr 2022 04:30 AM PDT "Fine, go on then". Whatever your misgivings are with the recent Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, we can all agree that it absolutely has some good things going for it. One of the best is that the rerelease doesn't just contain the PlayStation classic Chrono Cross, but the Satellaview visual novel Radical Dreamers, which had never seen an official localisation or release outside of Japan before. Back in March, the official Chrono Cross Twitter asked fans to come up with some questions for the development team. The first of those has been picked out and answered by Chrono Cross' writer and director Masato Kato. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Guide: Nintendo Switch Online - Every NES, SNES, N64 And Sega Genesis Game Available Posted: 22 Apr 2022 03:45 AM PDT Every retro game available with an NSO sub (plus the Expansion Pack). Updated with Nintendo's April 2022 game updates (three Genesis / Mega Drive titles including Sonic Spinball). Nintendo Switch Online had a slow start initially, but with the introduction of SNES games, we've seen added value coming to the service which better justifies the asking price. Nintendo has been slowly but surely fleshing out the number of games available, and we've pulled together a complete list of all the titles you'll get when you subscribe to the service – including the most recent additions as well as the bonus SP iterations of certain games. We've also listed the Japanese exclusives that aren't available to subscribers in the West (unless you have a Japanese Nintendo Account, of course). Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
