Feature: A Brief History Of Nintendo’s Home Hardware Add-Ons Posted: 13 Mar 2021 08:00 AM PST A multi-format menagerie. Nintendo's handheld console upgrades were so common for so long you could practically set your watch by them: the leap from Game Boy to Game Boy Color via the Pocket; the GBA's evolution from its original battery powered form to the blazing intensity of the Micro's beautiful screen; the more recent range of DSis, XLs and New!s. It would be a race to the finish, using whatever they had on hand to save time, and then it would be done. Bonus points if they could make it good, of course - but with so little time invested, and a much smaller team to pay, at least it wouldn't take as long to break even if the game was a dud. Sure, we might be eagerly waiting for Nintendo to give us the next proper update about the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but there's still plenty to discover in the original 2017 Wii U and Switch release. This finding was made by Zelda fan and Twitter user Axk_000, transforming the title into something that looks more like a scene out of The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim.
