Memory Pak: When Ace Attorney Pulled A Game Of Thrones-Level Twist Posted: 28 Mar 2021 11:00 AM PDT I can't believe they got Sean Bean to play [REDACTED]. Is it even worth doing a spoiler warning for an article that literally has the word "twist" in the title? I will anyway, just in case: This article will contain spoilers for both Game of Thrones and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, as well as probably some of the other Ace Attorney games, but none of the ones that were released in the past few years because I don't remember their plots quite as well. Alright, now it's just us, let's get down to Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Review: Renzo Racer - An Abysmal Mario Kart Clone That Should Be Avoided At All Costs Posted: 28 Mar 2021 10:00 AM PDT With Renzo like this, who needs enemies. When you first see Renzo Racers' main menu, it's clear that it makes no bones about the fact it's taking on Mario Kart. The game's logo is a shameless imitation of Mario Kart 8's, right down to the light blue 'RR' design that looks suspiciously like the 8. The problem is, by the time you've reached this menu screen, the game has already shown it isn't up to scratch, because chances are you've already sat through its awful intro sequence, which has so many bizarre camera cuts, awkward animations and worryingly low-res kart textures it feels like an HD remaster of an N64-era game. Feature: Subnautica Switch Dev - "It Wasn’t Always Our Intention To Release Them Together" Posted: 28 Mar 2021 08:00 AM PDT Unknown Worlds on its upcoming simultaneous Switch launch. First announced for Switch in a bumper Indie World Showcase from Nintendo back in August 2020, we were delighted to hear that developer Unknown Worlds and Bandai Namco are bringing not only the original Subnautica to Switch this year, but also its sequel, Subnautica: Below Zero. The latter has been in Early Access on PC for some time, and it's pleasing to see Switch owners won't miss out on either of these marine-based open-world adventures. Mistwalker Boss Not Interested In Reviving Studio's Older Games Posted: 28 Mar 2021 07:00 AM PDT Would rather "build something new". Earlier this week, we heard how the mobile exclusive Fantasian could potentially be the last project for Final Fantasy creator and Mistwalker Boss, Hironobu Sakaguchi, before he steps back or at least takes a break. In the same interview with VGC, Sakaguchi was asked if his company would be up for remasters or remakes of games such as The Last Story. While there are admittedly no plans right now, he's personally more attracted to new ideas featuring original stories and worlds. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Review: Root Film - A Surprisingly Grown-Up Visual Novel Posted: 28 Mar 2021 06:00 AM PDT A murder mystery through a different lens. Like any good story, it starts with a death. We don't know why someone is laying on the street or why people are taking pictures of them with their phones, but the world is dark and getting darker until it all fades to black. Root Film starts out grim and a little bit frightening, but the shock soon fades and we're presented with a well-written and presented visual novel that Western fans of the genre have been looking forward to since we found out it was getting an overseas release. The translation is solid, with only a few small typos that pop up. The game is fully voice acted in Japanese and there aren't any plans to provide an English dub, so players who aren't fans of subs might fight that a barrier to getting stuck in. Poll: Box Art Brawl #80 - Resident Evil Posted: 28 Mar 2021 04:00 AM PDT REmatch. Welcome back to Box Art Brawl, the weekly poll we run to find out which of two or more regional box art variants from years past is best. Last time we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Game Boy Advance with a look at launch title Kuru Kuru Kururin. The game didn't get a GBA release in North America, but fortunately Australia and New Zealand stepped in with a bespoke cover which caused quite an upset: it beat both Europe and Japan's efforts with a decisive 56% of the vote! Chalk one up for the southern hemisphere — one-for-one, in fact, as that was the region's first appearance in the Brawl. Hopefully we'll see them again in future bouts. Pokémon Designer James Turner Celebrates HarmoKnight's Anniversary With A Cute Drawing Posted: 28 Mar 2021 03:00 AM PDT "It's been years". It's been a big week for the 3DS, with the device celebrating its tenth anniversary. Yep, it's now an entire decade old. Of course, there were a number of amazing games released for it over the years and one of them happens to be HarmoKnight. The Pokémon developer Game Freak originally released this game locally back in 2013, and today marks the 8th anniversary of its EU and US release. While this anniversary isn't necessarily a big one, what is so special is the fact the game's director James Turner has drawn a picture of the heroes - Tempo and Tappy - to celebrate this occasion.
