"features like a stamina gauge".

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword might not necessarily be everyone's favourite entry in the Zelda series, but according to Nintendo, it put a lot of foundations in place for the Wii U swan song and Switch launch title, Breath of the Wild.

Video: Check Out This Side-By-Side Comparison Of Crash Bandicoot 4 On Switch And PS4 Pro

Can you tell the difference?

Next week sees the arrival of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time on the Switch. In the lead-up to this exciting third-party release, YouTuber Cycu1 has put together an "early graphics comparison" video in 1080p, comparing the cut scenes in the Nintendo version to the PlayStation 4 Pro release.

At a glance, it's honestly hard to tell which one is which, but admittedly there are a number of differences. When this game does arrive on 12th March, Nintendo fans will be able to experience the game at 720p in handheld mode and 1080p docked - with 30 FPS across both modes.

Feature: People Are Sharing Their First Four Zelda Screenshots On Switch, And We Wanted To Join In

Posted: 06 Mar 2021 10:00 AM PST

Let's just delete all the ones of Link's bum in those rubber tights real quick.

It's been 4 years (and a few days) since the release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, alongside the Nintendo Switch itself. Despite not being a particularly big anniversary, it's been celebrated nonetheless by fans and game critics alike.

The latest birthday present for Link and friends is a Twitter trend in which people are sharing their first four screenshots of Breath of the Wild - or their first four screenshots on Switch, which are much the same thing for most people - and it's been absolutely lovely to see the wonder and amazement of that game told through photographs.

Review: Citizens Unite!: Earth x Space - Two Mid-Tier RPGs For The Price Of One

Posted: 06 Mar 2021 08:00 AM PST

Ambassador, with these RPGs you are really spoiling us.

Comedy in video games is an extremely difficult prospect. As everyone well knows, the truest comedy in the medium comes from the stupid jokes and antics of you playing with your friends; scripted yuks are generally hamstrung by the inherent repetition and player-controlled pacing of any given game. Naturally, there are exceptions that use the form itself to make their jokes, which resonate with a community that's very used to the foibles of their hobby. Undertale springs to mind as an example of a genuinely hilarious game, while the likes of The Bard's Tale: Remastered and Resnarkled is the kind of thing that's content to go "look at how stupid and crap RPGs are! Anyway, here's a stupid, crap RPG."

We're grateful that Citizens Unite!: Earth x Space manages to avoid being cringeworthy, instead presenting an entertaining duology that prioritises player engagement over comedy. Essentially, you've got a couple of fairly similar RPGs here – in Earth you're the Vice President, and in Space you're Ambassador of Earth, but your goals are generally the same in both titles – recruit people to your squad and order them around without throwing a single punch yourself. Manipulate the public like a real politician!

Atlus Wants To Know What Games You Want Ported To Switch

Posted: 06 Mar 2021 07:25 AM PST

It's that time of year again.

Atlus has just released its annual online survey for 2021. As usual, it asks Japanese fans a number of questions about their own personal gaming habits and more. In terms of Switch-related questions, the same one from last year about possible ports is arguably the highlight. The only difference is it's no longer a Switch-only question.

As explained by Persona Central, the following question now also considers ports of previous Atlus games for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, smartphone, Steam and "other".

Review: Skyforge - A Disastrous MMORPG Cursed With Technical Faults And Dire Gameplay

Posted: 06 Mar 2021 06:00 AM PST

Godawful.

Editor's note: The developer claims that a patch is currently awaiting certification with Nintendo which aims to improve the performance of Skyforge on Switch. However, it would seem the availability of this patch is still unknown at present. With that in mind, we're publishing our review ahead of the patch going live, so please keep in mind that it may address some of the issues raised in this review.

Allods Team's Skyforge, which has been doing the rounds since back in 2015 is, at best, a pretty mediocre MMORPG – even when it's running as smoothly as it can and looking relatively decent on PC, PS4 or Xbox. This is a sci-fi/fantasy effort that flings players headlong into uninspiring, repetitive missions that take place in dull, lifeless locations where you employ the same handful of bog-standard moves ad nauseam against enemies who really don't seem to know or care that they're in combat. On Switch, this all-encompassing mediocrity takes a nosedive into proper disaster territory.

Rumour: Nintendo Switch Pro "Will Have Exclusives", Says Insider

Posted: 06 Mar 2021 04:30 AM PST

"I know of at least one".

Bloomberg published a story earlier this week about Nintendo's plans to release a new Switch model that would come equipped with a Samsung OLED display which will consume less battery, and offer higher contrast and possibly even a faster response time. It's reportedly a 7-inch, 720p-resolution panel and will be able to support "4K ultra-high definition graphics" when paired with televisions.

ResetEra user and known industry insider NateDrake - who has been linked to various other Nintendo leaks in the past, has now expanded on this story, claiming the new Switch unit will host some "select exclusives", especially from third-party partners.
