Party Game Racer Can’t Drive This Coming to Xbox on March 19

Posted: 09 Mar 2021 01:00 PM PST

Hey there, everyone! You might remember us from our previous title ChromaGun a while back. Well, we have some exciting news for you, and I'll just jump right out and say it: Can't Drive This is officially coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on March 19! And even better: It's available for pre-order riiight about… now! Did I mention it's 10% off as well? It really is!

Can't Drive This

Can't Drive This is a chaotic, asymmetrical split-screen multiplayer party racing game (buzzword bingo anyone?), where one player races a monster truck while another player builds the road! And if the driver drops below the speed limit, they'll explode and it's game over, baby. Like in that movie with Sandy B and ol' Johnny Cyberhands, remember? Except they were on a bus. Also, they didn't explode (sorry, spoilers).

We've been working on Can't Drive This for quite a while now, and we're super excited to finally be bringing it to Xbox. We miss the days of hanging with friends, and playing some good old couch multiplayer games. The shortage of four-player split-screen games is outrageous, right? That's why Can't Drive This features local multiplayer with up to four players — no matter if you're in the mood for some cooperative high score chasing, or a friendly round of competitive Capture the Egg (Yes, egg. Not flag).

Can't Drive This

No worries though, if you don't have friends around to play (which, let's be honest, you probably don't at the time). Between the single-player mode, and online multiplayer, you can safely enjoy the game from the isolated comfort of your couch.

The first prototype for the game was created in only 72 hours, during a game jam in 2016 — and now, a generous funding by the FFF Bayern, and more than four years later, it's finally time to push the baby out of the nest. Can't Drive This is available for pre-order on the Xbox Store now, and it'll drop onto your hard drives on March 9.

Can't Drive This

Thanks for your time, and from the entire team: We hope you enjoy the game!

See you on the streets!

Can't Drive This is a competitive co-op (it's a thing) multiplayer party racing game. Drive your monster truck WHILE your friend builds the road in front of you! Oh, and don't go too slow, OR YOU'LL EXPLODE! Like in that Sandra Bullock movie, in which she kinda does the same thing, but on a bus. Also, she doesn't explode (Spoiler alert). Also, Keanu Reeves was in the movie.

World of Tanks and World of Warships: Legends Deliver New March Updates

Posted: 09 Mar 2021 12:00 PM PST

Summary

  • Marchin' On, World of Warships: Legends brings new events, ships, and more in its latest update!
  • World of Tanks adds new tanks and continues its march through history with its latest season, Flashpoint!
  • Are you ready to march on toward greatness in battle? Then join us for all the new content in World of Warships: Legends and World of Tanks Flashpoint! Glory awaits!

March is coming in hot with new events, ships, and projects in World of Warships: Legends on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One! There's a new campaign to earn a multi-role Russian cruiser, plus two new legendary ship projects, the full release of British heavy cruisers, and some events to dive into. World of Tanks is heating things up as well this month with the arrival of its latest season, Flashpoint! Let's look at what's waiting for you in the world of tactical warfare!

World of Warships: 3.1 Update

World of Warships: Legends – Taken by the Storm

The new campaign in World of Warships: Legends is called Taken By Storm, which refers to the namesake event that the featured ship Ochakov is named after. In the late 18th century, the city of Ochakov was taken by Russian forces in a smashing victory, aided in part by the Russian Navy in the area. We took inspiration from this event in naming the Ochakov, which is based on a post-war Russian design for a small light cruiser. This tier VII ship is setup for whatever you may encounter in battle, with eight excellent 6-inch (152 mm) guns, long-range torpedoes on each side, plus sonar and radar all make this little cruiser a valuable asset to your team. You can earn Ochakov along with a ton of loot and equipment by completing the 100 milestones of the campaign with Admiralty Backing. Admiralty Backing drastically increases the rewards you can get from the campaign and helps you get the most out of each update, it is available in the campaign overview for doubloons.

There are a couple of legendary-tier ship projects arriving in the Bureau as well: British battleship Conqueror and the American destroyer Gearing. With a ludicrous broadside of twelve 16.5-inch (419 mm) guns, Conqueror is more than capable of dishing out some serious damage in the legendary tier. The Gearing was a long-serving class of destroyers that initially carried a powerful set of torpedoes and 5-inch guns as her main armament. You can start on these legendary projects in the Bureau during this update to add these ships into your fleet permanently.

World of Warships: 3.1 Update

Last update brought the first British heavy cruisers into early access, and now they are being unleashed into the high seas! Every ship in the line can now be researched and unlocked, including Albemarle at tier VII. The British heavy cruisers carry low velocity, heavy hitting guns plus a powerful repair party and sonar. Albemarle tops it all off with the addition of a radar, giving her a powerful set of tools with the right captain at the helm.

There are also some special additions coming into the game for the upcoming holidays. St. Patrick's Day will be featured up front with some unique camouflages, literal pots of gold, and Belfast. Ranked battles are slated to make a return for a couple of weekends, giving you the best chance to earn a handful of steel badges. Plus, there's a new commander coming for U.S. Destroyers, specializing in improving their torpedo armaments.

World of Warships: 3.1 Update

Not to mention, there's something spacial on the event horizon soon for April Fool's Day!

World of Tanks – Flashpoint

It's going to be a busy update on the seas, no doubt… and it's not going to be any quieter on the World of Tanks war front, thanks to the launch of Flashpoint!

World of Tanks – Flashpoint is the brand-new season of content designed to bring the battlefield forward into the next era of tank warfare. Just like our previous seasons, it challenges tankers to climb through 100 Levels by earning XP in multiplayer battles. As tankers rise through the levels, they'll receive rich rewards including gold, key cards, silver, and exclusive visual upgrades… and they can earn even more season-exclusive rewards by acquiring a World of Tanks – Flashpoint Season Pass!

World of Tanks - Flashpoint

But what do players love most about World of Tanks? That's right, the tanks! The ultimate rewards of World of Tanks – Flashpoint are four tanks that represent a new chapter in the game's history as it progresses from its World War II-era theme toward the formidable Cold War years.

With the regular season progression, every tanker will have a chance to earn the hard-hitting 50TP Prototyp Heavy Tank from the Polish tank line. Players with a season pass will be able to earn two additional tanks: the console-exclusive Chinese Type 59-II tank and the brand-new American T77 tank with the historic Creighton Abrams Commander.

Players with a World of Tanks Ultimate Season Pass will get one more coveted item on top of the regular season rewards and the season pass content: the all-new Polish CS-52 LIS! Not only does the CS-52 LIS come with a tank commander straight from the pages of history (the astounding Edmund Orlik Commander); it also paves the way for a massive update to the Polish tech tree with the introduction of the Polish medium line of tanks, coming later this spring!

Watch Dogs: Legion Online Mode Launches Today

Posted: 09 Mar 2021 11:00 AM PST

Starting today, Watch Dogs: Legion is giving players a new way to liberate London: teaming up with other DedSec operatives in four-player, open-world co-op. Out now as part of a free update for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, Watch Dogs: Legion Online mode unfolds separately from the single-player campaign, and takes place after the campaign's events (without spoilers). Here, players build a new DedSec cell by recruiting anyone they see in the open world – this time with a quicker system using earned Influence points – and then freely explore London and take on new missions alongside other operatives.

Watch Dogs: Legion

From the open world, players will be able to jump into a series of specially built co-op missions for up to four players. They can also dive into shorter side activities, or tackle PvP competition in the four-to-eight-player Spiderbot Arena, where armed spiderbots battle in dynamic, free-for-all deathmatch arenas. And starting on March 23, they'll be able to take on higher-stakes Tactical Ops missions, which are endgame challenges that require at least three players and demand constant communication and teamwork.

Watch Dogs: Legion

In addition to Watch Dogs: Legion Online mode, today also brings two new single-player DLC missions for Watch Dogs: Legion Season Pass holders. In "Guardian Protocol," DedSec discovers an algorithm that could enable AI to override human decisions, potentially turning weaponized drones into autonomous killing machines. And in "Not In Our Name," operatives will track and confront a hacker group who's using DedSec's name to steal blackmail information for a tabloid owner.

Watch Dogs: Legion

Watch Dogs: Legion lets you recruit anyone from its open world, take advantage of their special skills, and build a team and a story that's tailored to you. And with other players joining in via Watch Dogs: Legion Online mode, it's time to team up and drive, hack, sneak, and fight your way to a better tomorrow.

March Xbox Update Rolls Out with the Upcoming Launch of the Xbox Wireless Headset

Posted: 09 Mar 2021 09:00 AM PST

Summary

  • The Xbox Accessories app on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows 10 is getting an update ahead of the launch of the Xbox Wireless Headset.
  • New toggle settings are available for FPS Boost and Auto HDR for backward compatible games.
  • Achievements are coming back to the Xbox app (mobile),
  • A new way to manage your Xbox subscriptions is coming to console.

Team Xbox is excited to continue bringing new ways to make Xbox even better with software updates designed to improve your Xbox gaming experience based on your feedback, including both delivering you new features and refining existing ones. This month's release includes updates to the Xbox Accessories app in advance of the launch of the Xbox Wireless Headset, new toggles for FPS Boost and Auto HDR for backward compatible games, achievements returning to the Xbox app, and an improved game management experience.

Tailor Your Xbox Wireless Headset Experience on Your Console or PC

On March 16, aligned with the launch of the Xbox Wireless Headset, the Xbox Accessories app on your Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows 10 devices is getting an update. With the update, the app lets you fine-tune the audio controls for a customized audio experience, including equalizer settings, bass boost, auto-mute sensitivity, mic monitoring, and brightness of the mic's mute light. Best of all, the headset can stay updated with the latest features via wireless updates from your console, ensuring you'll have a premium audio experience that continues to evolve.

Make sure you install all the latest Windows updates to enjoy audio customization features on the Xbox Wireless Headset when using the Xbox Accessories app on Windows 10 devices.

Backward Compatible Auto HDR and FPS Boost Settings

In February, Team Xbox announced backward compatible games were getting even better with FPS Boost. Choice is incredibly important when it comes to choosing how you play your favorite games. So this March, we're rolling out our new toggles for both FPS Boost and Auto HDR.

In your game's manage settings, you can choose your compatibility options and toggle on or off Auto HDR and FPS Boost. Once you restart the game, your selections will be applied – you can verify it by pressing the Xbox button and checking the indicators under the clock. Not every game will support these features, so the compatibility options may not be available for your game.

March Xbox Update

Achievements Are Coming Back to the Xbox app

Achievements are returning! We heard the fan feedback that our community wants achievements brought into in the Xbox app on mobile. This month we’re testing various achievement experiences in the app, starting with a limited set of players and then rolling out to everyone.

This first update will include a list of achievements in the app, an achievements details screen, and achievement unlocked notifications. We’ll also be releasing an additional update with popular features like leaderboards in the coming months.

A New Way to Manage Your Xbox Subscriptions

We're bringing subscription management to the Xbox console to make it is easier for customers to see all their important plan information, including last charge, next charge, end date, and more. It also allows customers to update their credit card or other payment information, learn about all the different subscriptions available, and change plans. You'll find all this in Settings under Account.

TV Listings in OneGuide Are Going Away

Based on customer usage and feedback, we're constantly evolving the Xbox experience. To that end, beginning this May we'll be sunsetting live TV listings for OneGuide on Xbox One. You can continue to use OneGuide to view your connected HDMI devices or USB TV tuner. You can also keep using OneGuide for HDMI-passthrough and to watch TV via USB TV tuners, but you won't be able to access the on-screen TV Listings guide.

Managing Games Experience is Getting Better

We've improved the loading performance of the Manage screens in My games & apps. After purchasing a game in the Store with both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions, the Manage screen makes it more clear what parts of the bundle are best for your console if you select Choose what to install rather than just Install all.

Stay tuned to Xbox Wire for future updates and all the latest and greatest Xbox related news.

Officially Welcoming Bethesda to Team Xbox

Posted: 09 Mar 2021 06:30 AM PST

Publisher of iconic gaming franchises will expand Xbox's diverse portfolio on Xbox Game Pass

This is an exciting day for Xbox. Today we officially complete the acquisition of ZeniMax Media, parent company of Bethesda Softworks. It's an honor to welcome the eight incredibly talented development studios – Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, and Roundhouse Studios – and their passionate global communities to the Xbox family. Now that everything is official, we can begin working together to deliver more great games to everyone. At every step building toward this moment, I've been inspired and motivated by the creativity, insight, and community-first approach of the talented people at Bethesda. Our goal is to give these teams the best foundation for doing their greatest work and to learn from them as we continue to build Xbox into an inclusive platform for all players.

This is the next step in building an industry-leading first party studios team, a commitment we have to our Xbox community. With the addition of the Bethesda creative teams, gamers should know that Xbox consoles, PC, and Game Pass will be the best place to experience new Bethesda games, including some new titles in the future that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players.

As we shared previously, it's vitally important that Bethesda continues making games the way it always has. We look forward to empowering Bethesda's creative teams to reach even more players around the world, helping make future Bethesda titles the biggest and most popular games in their history. Xbox and Bethesda have long shared a common vision for the future of gaming. Both as fans and as creators, Bethesda understands the potential of Xbox Game Pass.

We would also like to honor the life and memory of my close friend Robert A. Altman, founder of ZeniMax Media. Robert believed deeply in the power of gaming and we are privileged to be able to continue his work by joining forces with the teams he built and led for many years.  I will miss the opportunity to work directly with him on the future of our combined teams but I know that his spirit will live on in the shared work we do and motivate us to make this partnership all he envisioned.

Thank you to all our players for joining us on this incredible journey and to the millions of Bethesda fans around the world. Now that we're one team, we can start working together on the future ahead. We will have more to share about what's next for our teams later this year. In the meantime, to properly celebrate this special moment, we are bringing additional Bethesda games into Xbox Game Pass later this week. Stay tuned for more details!
