Leaked images seem to confirm WW2 setting for Call Of Duty: Vanguard Posted: 12 Aug 2021 02:42 PM PDT ![]() Rumours earlier this year suggested that the next shootybang Call of Duty game would be called Call Of Duty: Vanguard, and that it would bring a World War 2-themed Warzone map. New images leaked online today on social media seem to lend further credence to those rumours, showing a Call Of Duty: Vanguard logo and a background featuring four characters holding WW2 equipment. |
Posted: 12 Aug 2021 02:35 PM PDT ![]() Back 4 Blood open beta has arrived, and the campaign is a doozy. Veteran and Nightmare modes pack some punishing difficulty, and many players will struggle to complete all the content in the beta on those settings. All that struggle makes the game extremely rewarding though, so whether you're just getting started or looking to finish the grind we’re here to help with some Back 4 Blood tips and tricks for Nightmare difficulty. |
Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City and San Andreas remasters reportedly real Posted: 12 Aug 2021 02:01 PM PDT ![]() Kotaku are reporting that the long-rumoured Grand Theft Auto remasters are real. According to "corroborating details from three sources," they said that remasters of Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas are "currently in the final stages of development." |
The 49-in Samsung CRG9 ultra-wide monitor is £379 off today Posted: 12 Aug 2021 01:59 PM PDT ![]() Samsung's CRG9 is one of our favourite ultrawide monitors, thanks to a super-bright DisplayHDR 1000 rating and a 49 inch span that's the same as two 27-in 1440p monitors side-by-side. It's also got a 120Hz refresh rate and is FreeSync and G-Sync Compatible, making it a great choice for a wide range of games. The monitor debuted at more than £1000, and today it's gone £80 cheaper than we've ever seen it before - just £721. For the specs on offer, this is an excellent value - so why not read on? |
Want to build a tiny gaming PC? Get this cut-price CM NR200 ITX case Posted: 12 Aug 2021 01:37 PM PDT ![]() The Cooler Master NR200 is, in my opinion, the best value small form factor PC case on the market right now. The fancy NR200P version, with an extra glass side panel, retails for £100, but the cheaper NR200 is normally £80 - and today, it's down to £60 at Amazon. This is a great price for an incredibly well designed ITX case, which boasts great airflow, a simple install procedure and support for a wide range of components, including long and wide triple-slot graphics cards - all in a frame that measures 360 x 185 x 274mm, barely bigger than a shoebox. |
Bugsnax is talkin' 'bout launching on Steam in 2022 Posted: 12 Aug 2021 01:12 PM PDT ![]() Bugsnax entranced folks with its catchy theme song from its very first trailer, and then entertained them further when it launched on the Epic Games Store late last year. Now it's been almost 12 months, which means it's time for the snack-hunting game to leap onto Steam. There's a new "coming soon" trailer to prove it below. |
Frostpunk 2 announced, swaps coal for oil in the frozen future Posted: 12 Aug 2021 12:53 PM PDT ![]() After some not-so-subtle teasing back in June, 11 Bit Studios have announced that their next game is Frostpunk 2. It's another management survival sim, set 30 years after the original, and there's a cinematic trailer below. |
Back 4 Blood Supply Lines, cards, and decks explained Posted: 12 Aug 2021 10:00 AM PDT ![]() The Back 4 Blood open beta has finally arrived and with it the unique new card system. Cards are one of the biggest elements that set Back 4 Blood apart from its spiritual predecessor, Left 4 Dead. However, the beta provides a pretty limited explanation of how cards and Supply Lines work. If you’re looking to learn the system and build the best deck to take on Nightmare mode, look no further than our guide to Back 4 Blood Supply Lines and cards. |
Eastward's Quake City dungeon has me stoked for its September release Posted: 12 Aug 2021 10:00 AM PDT ![]() Retro RPG Eastward has been on my most anticipated games list for actual years. When I first saw it at EGX back in 2019, I quickly fell in love with its characterful pixel art and nifty pair of protagonists - miner and frying pan extraordinaire John and his mysterious ward Sam - and couldn't wait to see what post-apocalyptic wonders lay beyond the mutated forests and run-down hub town I saw in that first demo. This week, I got to see a glimpse of its Quake City dungeon, a toxic wasteland you'll be picking through around ten hours into the game. With carnivorous plants, pesky crows and lots of poison-spewing hogs to contend with, Eastward has a surprising amount of bite hidden beneath its charming visuals, and I'm now more excited than ever to play it in full when it comes out next month. |
Apex Legends lead designer fired over old racist and sexist comments Posted: 12 Aug 2021 09:21 AM PDT ![]() Daniel Klein, the now-former lead game designer on Apex Legends, has been let go from Respawn Entertainment, due to sexist and racist remarks he made in 2007. A video and screenshots of his old DeviantArt blog posts began circulating online last month, referring to women as having "moron chromosomes" and comparing African people to animals. Klein has since apologised, though it seems his days working on Apex are over. |
Satirical bouncer sim Not Tonight 2 is coming to America Posted: 12 Aug 2021 08:57 AM PDT ![]() There’s enough political friction in the world for Brexit-inspired bouncing sim Not Tonight to return for a second round. Not Tonight 2’s focus is on America this time, not post-Brexit Britain, and will see a trio of bouncers travel across the US as they race to stop their friend being deported. |
The best characters in Back 4 Blood Posted: 12 Aug 2021 08:29 AM PDT ![]() Want to know which are the best characters in Back 4 Blood? B4B looks a lot like Left 4 Dead on the surface, but there are some key differences you will need to learn about to succeed on Nightmare difficulty. One of the biggest is Back 4 Blood’s characters, each of whom have unique abilities that aid your team and shape how you play the campaign. You will need to choose your team wisely to beat Nightmare difficulty, and we're here to help with our guide to Back 4 Blood’s best characters. |
EWS podcast episode 151: best collectibles in games Posted: 12 Aug 2021 08:00 AM PDT ![]() This week on the Electronic Wireless Show podcast you see us trudging back and forth over a field, grimly trying to locate the little bit of rock or feather that our map tells us is right here, dammit. Yes, we're all about the best collectibles in games this week - which, it turns out, is a pretty short list, so we have some meaty discussion of whether they actually are good, and if so, how? Digressions get off to a good start with Matthew's adoption of the Lego Stud as a name, which makes him sound like a hot LEGO minifig, leading us to wonder what it would be like if we were all just shadows conjoured by Nate's subconcious. Truly beastly. This week in inside baseball we discuss why the promo tat we used to get from PRs was not as good as you might imagine it was, and anyway now it's all YouTuber's getting free cars. Plus: a Cavern Of Lies giftshop disrupted by the Eds, dastardly foes of the show. |
Watch as the Skyblivion team take us on a tour of a redesigned Cyrodiil Posted: 12 Aug 2021 07:20 AM PDT ![]() You’re going to have to burn your cloth map if you want to return to Skyblivion’s Cyrodiil. The latest update on the The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake in Skyrim shows they’re not afraid to make huge changes to the world, building a bigger and bolder looking remake. Let’s take a walk. |
Diablo 4 director reportedly let go from Activision Blizzard Posted: 12 Aug 2021 06:25 AM PDT ![]() Three long-serving Activision Blizzard developers have reportedly been let go, following allegations that the company fostered a culture of sexual harassment and discrimintation in an ongoing lawsuit. Activision Blizzard have confirmed that Diablo 4's director Luis Barriga, lead designer Jesse McCree, and World Of Warcraft designer Jonathan LeCraft have all left the company, though they haven't explicitly provided a reason why. |
Foreclosed review: a paper-thin cyberpunk stealth shooter Posted: 12 Aug 2021 06:00 AM PDT ![]() Greetings Chooms! Cough. Splutter. Sorry, something in my throat. Greetings chums! Please engage your rose-tinted cyber visors, and marvel at a theoretical version of cyberpunk stealth-shooter Foreclosed that’s actually worth playing. It’s one that abandons weak shooting and focuses on its promising telekinetic powers. That leans into its lead’s latent Max Paynian vulnerability and noir humour instead of joyless, stony disaffect. That realises ‘cyber’ is only as interesting as the lives it affects, and that ‘punk’ can be burlesque eccentricity and burning hopefulness, not just sneering neon. Now, take them off, and let’s take a look at what we’ve actually got here. Oh. |
Metal Slug Tactics' latest gameplay trailer teases some towering boss battles Posted: 12 Aug 2021 04:17 AM PDT ![]() Metal Slug Tactics adding a third-dimension looks to have been an excellent idea. As we saw during E3, the traditionally 2D platformer has spawned an isometric strategy game. Aesthetically, it’s lost nothing in translation. The pixelly characters look lovely in any dimension, and the levels are delightfully detailed dioramas filled with fun little battles. Metal Slug also had giant bosses to cap off levels, and though there's a new perspective in play, the latest gameplay trailer for Metal Slug Tactics shows the bosses are as meaty as before. |
Here's when Back 4 Blood's open beta kicks off today Posted: 12 Aug 2021 03:24 AM PDT ![]() While some folks had a chance to play Back 4 Blood's beta last week, today the open beta goes live so everyone can give the new Left 4 Dead-like a go. If you haven't had a chance to try it out yet, players get access to a bunch of campaign missions, with a different objective in each. It's a decent chunk of content that gives a good sense of what to expect in the full version of the first-person zombie basher, plus you can try out the PvP versus mode. |
Boyfriend Dungeon review: be still my metal heart Posted: 12 Aug 2021 03:00 AM PDT ![]() It was always my understanding that describing someone as a "weapon" was a (generally benign) insult: they behave in a manner that makes them a danger to themselves or others. Recently, however, I heard a woman refer to herself as a weapon, meaning "extremely attractive", a meaning that only makes sense in the world of Boyfriend Dungeon, a dungeon battler-meets-dating sim where your love interests are both extremely attractive and literally weapons. As in swords and that. |
Honey, I Joined A Cult wants to recruit you in September Posted: 12 Aug 2021 02:58 AM PDT ![]() We have all been waiting, waiting, waiting for Honey, I Joined A Cult to open its doors. Well, finally, the ascension to our better selves is near. The Prison Architect-ish cult builder is launching in early access in September. Open your minds to the trailer below. |
