The Quake Remaster Is Out Now On Nintendo Switch Posted: 19 Aug 2021 11:35 AM PDT Cross-platform, gyro controls, new content, mods and more! While Bethesda's QuakeCon got off to a slightly rough start in its live stream, the big news from its opening is confirmed - Quake is out now on Nintendo Switch after a listing dropped earlier today. We've checked the UK and US eShop where it costs $9.99USD / £7.99. (We've posted the Xbox upload of the trailer as Nintendo's is age-gated) It seems like a really solid iteration of the classic, too. It's out on all current consoles, and on Switch it comes in at 1080p when docked, with widescreen support and a wide variety of visual and technical enhancements. And yes, it has gyro motion controls. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |

You guys. Wurmple has an EXTRA HORN. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Guide: Chill Music From Video Games - Relaxing Playlist Posted: 19 Aug 2021 11:00 AM PDT Chill the beans right down with these tranquil tunes. Throughout Nintendo Life VGM Fest — our season of music-focused features, interviews and other audio-based bits — we'll be bringing you some of the Nintendo Life team's personal playlist picks of the best music in all of video-gamedom. Our collective gaming experience spans many decades' worth of incredible audio, from the nostalgic 'blips' and 'beeps' of the arcade era (for some of us, at least) up to the full orchestral majesty of today's triple-As, and all the glorious variations in between. Below you'll find a handful of our top gaming tunes for unwinding at the end (or indeed the start or the middle) of the day. The only self-imposed rule we had when selecting these tracks for our relaxing VGM playlist was they must have featured in a game on a Nintendo platform. Simple! Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion Is Getting Free DLC Next Week Posted: 19 Aug 2021 10:00 AM PDT A timely rebate. Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion was a rather enjoyable release on Switch back in Spring - we gave it a hearty recommendation in our review. For those that have already played it, or indeed those that are thinking of grabbing it in the future, the good news is that it's getting some new free DLC next week, on 26th August. This DLC will be accessible after you complete the game and is part of 'The Sunset Station update'; it'll feature "an infinite train dungeon known as the Limitless Line that has players battle new and upgraded familiar enemies for a bevy of rewards." Metal-Detecting Adventure 'The Magnificent Trufflepigs' Snuffles Onto Switch Next Week Posted: 19 Aug 2021 09:00 AM PDT Can you dig it? Back when it was announced, we described The Magnificent Trufflepigs as "Firewatch, but it's set in the English countryside, and instead of being about fires and watching, it's about metals and detecting." We stand by that — it's a first-person narrative adventure that's partly about romance, partly about discovering secrets beneath the earth. The game has quite an impressive list of people involved: Everybody's Gone to the Rapture lead designer, Andrew Crawshaw, is at the helm, with Necrobarista and Florence composer Kevin Penkin on the soundtrack. Arthur Darvill (Rory from Doctor Who) plays Adam, the player character, who returns to his hometown to help out an old friend named Beth, whose childhood discovery ended up defining her life. Spacebase Startopia Brings Management Sim And RTS Action To Switch Next Month Posted: 19 Aug 2021 08:30 AM PDT Look after your very own space station. Kalypso Media and developer Realmforge Studios have announced that Spacebase Startopia is setting course for the Nintendo Switch eShop on 24th September. If you haven't already checked this one out on other systems (our sister site Push Square came away with mixed feelings after playing it on PS5 earlier this year), Spacebase Startopia has you taking care of a variety of aliens aboard a doughnut-shaped space station. Across three different decks (the Sub Deck, Bio Deck, and Fun Deck), you'll need to build and manage their home while fending off hordes of roving space pirates and invaders real-time-strategy-style. Mini Review: Rush Rally Origins - An Easygoing, Accessible Rallying Remake Posted: 19 Aug 2021 08:00 AM PDT Rushing back to the start. With each iteration of Rush Rally, the series has assuredly improved with more detailed cars and environments, sharper controls, and an overall cleaner experience. In hindsight, then, the original Rush Rally can seem a tad dated in comparison to later entries, so developer Brownmaster has gone back and effectively remade the original game with Rush Rally Origins. Delivering the improved graphics and audio seen in Rush Rally 3 whilst retaining the same arcade style gameplay of the original, Rush Rally Origins combines the best of both worlds, making this a worthy companion piece to Rush Rally 3. Rush Rally Origins contains three core modes: Time Trial, Championship, and Race. Time Trial is your standard rally affair, pitting you against the clock as you race solo around various tracks. Championship strings the Time Trial courses together as a larger tournament, and Race sees you compete directly against several AI controlled racers. The variety of tracks on offer is impressive, with races taking place across Finland, Greece, Sweden, United Kingdom, Kenya, and New Zealand. Frustratingly, there doesn't appear to be an option to pick whichever course you like at the start, so you need to take part in each course in the correct order, unlocking the new ones as you go. Random: Aya Neo's Switch-Style Handheld Is Getting A Game Boy Makeover Posted: 19 Aug 2021 04:30 AM PDT Plus a massive spec boost. Ever since the Switch arrived on the market and reinvigorated interest in portable gaming, we've seen a fair few imitators and rivals appear, mostly from companies in the Far East. GPD has already shown off more than one Switch-inspired handheld and Chinese giant Tencent has a similar machine in the works, while the relatively new outfit Aya Neo has been working hard on its 'AYANEO 2021' device for some time now. Like many tech firms right now (including Nintendo), Aya Neo has been struggling to source components for its product following a successful crowdfunding campaign earlier this year. While 'backer' units are out in the wild, the final consumer version of the AYANEO 2021 is due to go into fully production next month – and Aya Neo has given it a spec boost as well as a Nintendo-style facelift to really hammer home its gaming credentials.
