Nintendo Is Adding A New Driver To Its Mobile Game Mario Kart Tour Posted: 20 Aug 2021 08:55 PM PDT The 'Kamek Tour' is on the way. Mario Kart Tour is quickly becoming the most expansive game ever in the series' history. Following on from the addition of retro tracks like Cheep-Cheep Island from the GBA release, Nintendo is now adding another new (but classic) character. It's the Magikoopa Kamek. Although this isn't the first time Kamek has appeared in some way or form within the Mario Kart series, this does mark his official debut as a playable driver. If you look close enough, you should be able to see him in the background of the following image: Read the full article on nintendolife.com |

Hopefully, the trailer locks in a release date. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl's New 'Grand Underground' Map Looks Epic Posted: 20 Aug 2021 12:00 PM PDT Tunnel vision. We knew that the Underground from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl would be returning in the upcoming remakes, but now we know that it's also getting spruced up a fair amount, with an expanded map, "Pokémon Hideaways" that contain Pokémon which can only be found in that area, and a new mechanic that means the statues you place in your Secret Base can affect things in the real world. Take a look at the new Grand Underground map from Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, which features hints at some of those Pokémon Hideaways, as well as showing where each section of the Underground can be accessed from Sinnoh's island: Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Digital Foundry Weighs In With First Impressions Of Crysis 3 On Switch Posted: 20 Aug 2021 11:00 AM PDT Switch Mode Engaged. Following on from the recent announcement that the Crysis Remastered Trilogy is making its way to Switch this Autumn, Digital Foundry has gone hands-on with the third entry in the series to take a look at just how the upcoming port holds up on Nintendo's hybrid console. We've certainly got high hopes for both sequels after the top-notch job Saber Interactive did in porting the excellent Crysis Remastered last year and, judging by what Digital Foundry has to say about its experiences so far, things are indeed looking good for the trilogy's full release later this year. Posted: 20 Aug 2021 10:00 AM PDT Lena Raine talks Chrono Trigger and wanting to write "a really rowdy anime opening". Lena Raine's meteoric rise over the past few years has taken her from working in Quality Assurance at ArenaNet, all the way to being nominated for a BAFTA and an award for Best Music at The Game Awards — pretty impressive for someone who's technically only nine years old, due to her birthday being on February 29th. Raine's love of video game music goes back a long way, all the way back to NES games, where the likes of Koji Kondo and Hirokazu Tanaka wove their musical magic into some of the best soundtracks of all time. As part of the new generation of video game composers, Raine's soundtracks evoke a feeling of nostalgia, harking back to Saturday mornings cross-legged in front of the TV, controller in hand. Murder Diaries Brings Abstract, Grisly Investigations To Switch Soon Posted: 20 Aug 2021 09:30 AM PDT The disembodied detective. EpiXR Game's Murder Diaries arrives on Nintendo Switch on 16th September, bringing with it some pretty freaky looking murder investigation shenanigans. Here are some details from the PR blurb to go along with the trailer above: Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Hands On: Anbernic's RG300X Is A Beefed-Up Game Boy Micro That Runs Emulators Posted: 20 Aug 2021 09:00 AM PDT And it's slightly less punishing on your hands. We've covered the exploits of Chinese firm Anbernic on Nintendo Life before, thanks to our coverage of its generally excellent RG351 handheld. The company has become popular in recent years due to the fact that it combines great design with solid ergonomics – and its systems are pretty decent when it comes to replicating classic consoles via emulation. Anbernic's latest effort, the RG300X, seems to follow the same pattern. It's clearly a clone of the Game Boy Micro in terms of design – it even rips off the 'Famicom edition' styling seen in a Japanese exclusive version of that particular Nintendo handheld – but is slightly larger and has a bigger, 640x480-pixel 3-inch screen. It also throws in two extra face buttons and two additional shoulder buttons for good measure – oh, and you charge its 2,500 mAh battery using USB-C. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |

This 3D hack and slash revamp/sequel sees players return to battling robot enemies using a variety of combo-tastic moves in a brand new chapter of the fast-paced single player arcade adventure. If you missed out on the first Switch game, the trailer above gives a decent idea of what the game's about, and here's a little textual flavour of what to expect from the official PR blurb, too (plus a couple of pics): Read the full article on nintendolife.com |

Review: Love Esquire - A Fantastic Voice Cast Elevates This Seductive Romp Posted: 20 Aug 2021 06:00 AM PDT Looking for love in all the right places. Visual novels and dating sims used to be hard to come by here in the West, especially on consoles. However, the Switch, with its portability and vibrant screen, has enjoyed a wealth of games in these genres over the years. One of the latest to make its way to the console is Love Esquire from publisher Mama Morin. Originally developed for PC by Yangyang Mobile back in 2019, Love Esquire is the tale of a lowly squire who is desperate to lose his virginity by the time he is shipped off to war. He has four months to go from being a weird loser to a weird loser with a girlfriend. As is often the case in these games, there are exactly five eligible 'bachelorettes' in the whole city for him to choose from, each with their own gift preferences, schedules, and story to explore.
