Fortnite Season 8: How To Find And Use The Carnage And Venom Symbiotes

Posted: 17 Sep 2021 09:00 AM PDT

Fortnite Season 8's battle pass features a sinister surprise at the end: Carnage, the psychotic symbiote from Marvel comics, is the final prize of this season's pass. If you don't want to wait to wield Carnage's power, however, Epic Games has added symbiote weapons to the battle royale game for players to find. Here's how to find--and more importantly wield--the Carnage and Venom symbiotes in Fortnite.

Fortnite Symbiotes Explained

Symbiotes in Fortnite are Mythic weapons, unique items that hold powerful passive and active abilities. The symbiote will occupy one item slot in a player's inventory when picked up, immediately granting the wearer zero gravity jumps and the ability to re-deploy a glider during any high jump. When activated the weapon reaches out in front of the player wielding it, dealing 60 damage to an enemy and pulling them right next to the wearer. This allows for quick combos and easy eliminations, especially with a shotgun in tow.

How To Find Fortnite's Symbiotes

The symbiotes do not appear in one specific place; rather they randomly spawn on the island when the first storm circle appears during a match. The locations of the symbiotes will appear on the in-game map, so first check the map to find where it landed and then make a beeline for that location. In the match where we found it first, Carnage's symbiote appeared in the field northwest of Corny Crops, below the large cliff. The Venom symbiote, according to the map, had spawned near the river north of Lazy Lake.

Splitgate Could Eventually Add A Battle Royale Mode

Posted: 17 Sep 2021 08:04 AM PDT

Splitgate, the popular fusion of Halo and Portal, might eventually be expanding beyond its arena influences. While the developers behind the game still aim to make it the best game in the arena shooter genre, a battle royale mode isn't out of the question.

When asked on Twitter if fans could expect to see some last-person standing action in the near future the Splitgate account replied that it has no plans yet for a battle royale mode, but the idea isn't off the table

Splitgate developer 1047 Games recently raised $100 million to fund the ongoing development of the game and expand its studio. With Splitgate still in beta, the plan is to have a "historic" launch when the game is ready to formally debut.

Monster Hunter Rise Introduces Mega Man's Robo-Dog Rush

Posted: 17 Sep 2021 07:36 AM PDT

Monster Hunter Rise introduced some new elements like a canine companion to the series. Being a Monster Hunter game, it's also getting a steady stream of crossover events with other Capcom series, including an upcoming cosmetic swap for your Palamute that makes it look like Mega Man's robo-dog, Rush. The special event starts September 24.

Completing the event will give you crafting materials to make the Rush skin. There is no end-date listed, but if it's like other Monster Hunter crossover events, it will just remain in the game in perpetuity.

The trailer for the Palamute event shows footage from Mega Man 11, the most recent game in the long-running action-platformer series. Rush first appeared in the series in Mega Man 3, all the way back in 1990. The robo-canine is a Swiss army knife of a character, transforming into vehicles like a submarine or jet-board. In Monster Hunter Rise, he looks to stay in his regular dog form, albeit carrying around a massive blade in his jaws.

HBO Max Deal Lets You Subscribe For 50% Off

Posted: 17 Sep 2021 07:18 AM PDT

HBO Max is offering its best deal yet, giving new and returning subscribers the ability to sign up for HBO Max for only $7.50 per month. That's 50% off the normal $15/month price for the ad-free version of the subscription service.

WarnerMedia is rolling out this deal after HBO content was removed from Amazon Prime Video on September 15. The deal also kicks off just as Clint Eastwood's Cry Macho comes to HBO Max and a month before Dune releases in October.

As an unexpected bonus, the deal also applies to new and returning HBO Max users who might have canceled and now want to come back. Existing HBO Max subscribers, however, can't extend their existing membership with this deal. However, they seemingly can if their monthly or yearly plan expires on or before September 26, which is when the new offer expires. The $7.50/month offer is good for up to six months.

Call Of Duty Warzone Bans Also Apply To Vanguard

Posted: 17 Sep 2021 06:29 AM PDT

Activision has been taking action against cheaters in Call of Duty: Warzone, and these efforts include bans applying to multiple Call of Duty games. Players who are banned in Warzone--and these bans have stretched into the hundreds of thousands of accounts--are also banned from playing Call of Duty: Vanguard, it has been discovered. However, whether or not this is limited to the beta or the full game remains to be seen.

Warzone developer Raven Software is implementing hardware bans, which in theory means offenders can't simply make a new account because the ban is tied to the particular machine they are playing on. This system is not perfect, of course, but it seems to be working in this case.

As Eurogamer reports, there have been many examples of people across the internet commenting about these hardware bans going into effect. The popular Call of Duty fansite CharlieIntel also reported that Warzone bans apply to Vanguard, whether it's a hardware or an account ban.

Splitgate Will Have Forge Mode Before Halo Infinite, Dev Says

Posted: 17 Sep 2021 05:45 AM PDT

The developer of the popular shooter Splitgate has said the game will get a Forge-style map editor mode before Halo Infinite does after 343 delayed the feature earlier this year.

Responding to a tweet from KFC's gaming account to "trigger an entire gaming fanbase with one sentence," the Splitgate account replied with a message about Forge. "Splitgate will have Forge mode before Halo Infinite. Sorry in advance Halo fans, we love you but we had to," the tweet said (via IGN).

Splitgate's Forge mode probably won't be called Forge, developer 1047 Games said in another tweet, but it will be a similar type of map editor. "Imagine placing portal pads anywhere you wanted on Olympus," the tweet said.

Sea Of Thieves Season 4 Is Taking Players Underwater This Month

Posted: 17 Sep 2021 05:04 AM PDT

Sea of Thieves' fourth season starts on September 23, and developer Rare has posted a new teaser trailer for what fans can expect from it. While season 3's A Pirate's Life was notable for its Pirates of the Caribbean crossover that brought Captain Jack Sparrow along for the ride, season 4 is teasing a trip to underwater locations.

Going under the waves has been a traditionally dangerous place to explore in Sea of Thieves, although the few times that players have been directed to those areas have resulted in some worthwhile treasure being discovered. Rare hasn't spent too much time in the deep, although it looks like season 4 will change this.

Deathloop Slabs Guide - Where To Find Them, Who To Kill, And Which Are The Best?

Posted: 17 Sep 2021 04:59 AM PDT

Deathloop has many elements that are similar to previous Arkane Studios games, specifically its gameplay centered around supernatural abilities. In Deathloop, the items that convey these powers are called Slabs--equippable powers that are held by the most dangerous citizens of Blackreef. These Visionaries all have a different slab on them, with each one giving you an entirely new way to get around the island or engage with enemies. They also all feature numerous upgrades that can extend their abilities in creative ways, which begs the question: which ones should you get?

In short: all of them, really. Unlike Dishonored, Deathloop claws back the scope somewhat and limits slabs to just five variations. Considering you can only equip two of them at a time anyway, this isn't too big of a deal, especially when you take into account how many upgrades each one has to enhance its effectiveness. Deathloop makes it clear where you can find each one, but if you need a comprehensive explanation of each one's effect and potential upgrades, then look no further.

It's worth noting that while all these slabs are specific to certain Visionaries, the invading Julianna will always carry one random slab with her when she invades your game. If you manage to take her down, you can pick up a new ability or upgrade without needing to hunt a specific character, which should incentivize you to at least try to defeat invaders most times they appear.

F9's Sung Kang Teases His Star Wars Kenobi Role, Says His Character Has A Lightsaber

Posted: 17 Sep 2021 04:49 AM PDT

Fast & Furious star Sung Kang, who plays Han in the action movie series, has spoken about one of his next projects, the Star Wars TV show Kenobi. Speaking to ScreenRant, Kang said he's been a fan of Star Wars since he was a kid, dressing up like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader in cheap department store costumes for Halloween. Now he has to keep pinching himself because he's actually in a Star Wars production.

Not only did Kang speak about his Star Wars fandom, but he teased that his character--who remains a mystery--will wield a lightsaber in Kenobi. This opens up some interesting possibilities in regards to who he might be playing--a Jedi? We'll have to wait to find out.

"I used to dress in the cheap Kmart plastic Halloween costumes — [of] Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader — almost every single day from eight to thirteen years old. My friends and I would play pretend, we would make our own lightsabers out of, you know, toilet paper centers and stuff like that and paper towel cardboard," he said (via Collider). "To be able to be on set and see Darth Vader and see the Star Wars universe in front of me...just as a fan, to be able to be a part of that history is pretty amazing. I kept pinching myself to go, 'How did I end up here?' And my character has a lightsaber, [and] it's not a toy, it's actually the real thing."
