Posted: 12 Jan 2022 09:30 AM PST

Amanga Us.

Among Us' cultural saturation has reached new highs, as it was announced today that the social deduction game would be getting a manga adaptation in the February edition of Bessatsu Corocoro, a monthly Japanese manga magazine.

"How on earth," you might ask, "can they turn Among Us into a manga?" Well, it wouldn't be the first time that someone has dramatised the story - this short film has over 11 million views, turning the goofy murder-your-friends game into a genuinely tense thriller:

Ex-Nintendo Staffers To Share Behind-The-Scenes Stories In Nintendo Power Reunion Livestream

Posted: 12 Jan 2022 09:00 AM PST

"An incredible afternoon of stories".

For many of our friends in the US, Nintendo Power magazine was the way to get all the latest news, guides and more relating to the latest Nintendo games. Kicking off in 1988 and running for 24 years, the magazine was known for its official ties to Nintendo – it was originally designed and created in-house, after all – and was immensely popular among fans until it was eventually shut down in 2012.

Of course, Nintendo Power has since been revived as a podcast, but those of you who crave the glory days of the original magazine will want to check out this upcoming live stream. Hosted by The Video Game History Foundation, the 'Nintendo Power Reunion' will bring together some of the mag's original staff to talk about their time working on the project for the first time.

Out Now: SNK VS. Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash Is Dealing Now On The eShop

Posted: 12 Jan 2022 08:05 AM PST

SNK combines the games, 300 cards to collect.

SNK has been bringing a variety of NEOGEO Pocket Color titles to the Switch, and the latest arrival is live now on the eShop in North America and Europe (hat-tip to Nintendo Everything for the spot). SNK VS. Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash is available now for $7.99 / €7,99 / £7.19, bringing together what was two separate editions in the original release of 1999.

As the name makes clear back in the day this had a Pokémon-style release of two versions, with each one having some unique decks and cards. In this version you have both versions of the game, four versions if you consider that it has the English and Japanese builds. Each iteration has its own save data, and you can trade and even battle between the two versions (of the same language) in the game.

Hands On: Could This $1,300 Switch 'Rival' Hold The Answer To Joy-Con Drift?

Posted: 12 Jan 2022 06:50 AM PST

Aya Neo Next uses 'Hall Effect' sensors for its analogue inputs.

Remember the Aya Neo 2021 Pro, the super-powered and super-expensive portable PC we covered a short while ago? Well, the company behind it is releasing a new handheld this year which boasts a feature that should be very interesting to long-suffering Switch owners.

The Aya Neo Next is a Ryzen 7 5800U-powered device that uses a 'Hall Effect' sensor (named after the person who discovered it) on its analogue sticks and triggers – this is technology that makes use of magnets so the components inside don't actually wear against one another.

Mini Review: Twelve Minutes - A Tedious Time Loop That Squanders Its Potential

Posted: 12 Jan 2022 06:00 AM PST

"No, Samus, no!" we cried, "It's not THAT Ridley!".

It's almost impossible to avoid comparing 12 Minutes to the classic existential horror movie, Groundhog Day. It's the same basic premise, after all; famous actor goes into house, eats cake, gets assaulted by policeman, chokes to death, wakes up in the time loop. Okay, maybe they're not exactly the same. In fact, it's only really the famous actor and the time loop that it has in common. Also, Groundhog Day is good.

As a game – that is, as a puzzle for the player to solve – 12 Minutes is profoundly unengaging. Yes, that first loop raises many questions (among them, How much was James McAvoy paid to be in something even worse than X-Men Apocalypse? Does Nintendo have a refund policy?) but getting to the answers is going to require an enormous amount of repetition, arbitrary guessing and the ability to overcome incredible amounts of ennui.

Switch Was UK's Bestselling Console In December With A 'Dominant' Performance

Posted: 12 Jan 2022 04:30 AM PST

More impressive longevity for Nintendo's system.

While plenty reading these pages will have owned a Switch since 2017, there are still plenty of gamers still buying into the system or, perhaps, adding new and additional consoles into their household. With three distinct models and a large game library the Switch is still showing good momentum, with recent UK data giving another positive assessment of the hybrid's position.

GamesIndustry.biz has shared sales data for the UK market in December, with some interesting trends emerging. Xbox Series X|S enjoyed its best month yet courtesy of increased stock, finishing ahead of the PS5 which nevertheless had its second best month, with both platform holders clearly going all-out to increase stock and get festive sales. Beating both of those was the Switch, however, finishing as the best-selling console in the UK for December.

Random: Reviews For This Hopeful Ring Fit Competitor Are Not Good

Posted: 11 Jan 2022 03:00 PM PST

"The Quell Hero is in for a tough fight".

When Ring Fit Adventure was first announced, some of us were unconvinced. Wii Sports was great, but we fell off it hard in the end, and having all that extra equipment was a bit of a pain. But we were wrong. Ring Fit Adventure is very good — good enough to spawn competition.

Enter the Quell Hero, design studio Morrama's "future of fitness gaming" platform that, much like Ring Fit, tasks its players with jogging through a linear 3D world and fighting monsters. The twist? It's all boxercise, powered by a haptic-enabled waistband attached to resistance bands and motion-tracking controllers.
