Posted: 29 Mar 2022 12:00 PM PDT The Workhorse, Dornier Do J Wal, Comes to Microsoft Flight Simulator.Today, we are excited to announce that the Dornier Do J Wal, the third plane in our "Local Legends" series, is available now in Microsoft Flight Simulator. The series celebrates the history of aviation, and this release is linked to World Update VIII: Spain, Portugal, Andorra, and Gibraltar. This aircraft is a twin-engine, high-wing monoplane flying boat designed by German aviation firm, Dornier. The Wal ("Whale" in German) took its maiden flight on November 6, 1922 and was introduced in 1923. It was initially produced by Costruzioni Meccaniche Aeronautiche in Pisa, Italy, due to aircraft manufacturing restrictions in Germany imposed by the Treaty of Versailles after World War I. Dornier began building the Wal in Germany in 1931 but ceased production in 1936. The aircraft, with a crew of three, accommodated up to ten passengers. ![]() More than 325 Dornier Do J Wals were manufactured in two primary versions: a military version, and then later, a civilian model. The aircraft, which flew until the early 1950s, served in more than a dozen countries, including Germany, Spain, Portugal, Japan, Argentina, and the Soviet Union. The Dornier Do J Wal was renowned throughout the world for completing a number of historic aviation firsts and exploratory flights, including a North Pole journey and transatlantic expeditions. The Dornier Do J Wal features metal construction with fabric-covered wings and control surfaces, a hull design that incorporates distinctive sponsons for stability on water and serve as anchors for the main wing struts, and a traditional tail unit. The main wing, with a span of 72 feet, 2 inches, is elevated above the hull by a lattice structure. The Dornier Do J Wal is powered by two engines in a tractor-pusher configuration mounted in a nacelle above the main wing. The Dornier Do J Wals use various engines in pairs, including the Rolls-Royce Eagle IX V-12 that produces up to 355 horsepower, the 500-horsepower Napier Lion V, and the BMW V12x that turns out up to 600hp. ![]() Depending on engines and aircraft configuration, the Dornier Do J Wal cruises between 87 and 106 mph, with a top speed of 124 to 130 miles per hour, and has a range from 497 to 621 miles. It climbs at 300 feet per minute and has a service ceiling of between 10,170 and 14,764 feet above sea level. A breakthrough feat of aviation engineering for its day, the Dornier Do J Wal maintains an enduring legacy of performance and distinctiveness in the world of aircraft. This workhorse, which has proven successful from frigid polar adventures to the depths of the humid Amazon, is a marvel of utility, inviting aviators to explore the skies across the planet. ![]() The plane has been meticulously recreated for Microsoft Flight Simulator, with careful attention paid to the finest details of both the exterior and the interior. Recreate this amazing aerial voyage in the highest historic fidelity. The Dornier Do J Wal is available today on the Microsoft Flight Simulator in-sim marketplace for $14.99. We will continue to introduce more aircraft to the "Local Legends" series over the next few months. ![]() Microsoft Flight Simulator is now available for Xbox Series X|S and PC with Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, Windows 10/11 and Steam. Posted: 29 Mar 2022 11:00 AM PDT The Kaito Files tells the story of Masaharu Kaito, the muscle of the Yagami Detective agency, as he takes on a lucrative case in the highly anticipated DLC expansion to Lost Judgment. Kaito's riveting four-chapter story and new sensory-based investigation modes provide an entirely new lens through which to experience Kamurocho and delve into the ex-yakuza's past. But perhaps the most distinctive part of Kaito's kit is his new battle styles. In this guide, we'll share some inside tips on getting the most out of Kaito's two battle styles: Bruiser and Tank. ![]() Bruiser Style The Bruiser style is Kaito’s bread and butter, available to players right out the gate. The more offense driven of Kaito's two fighting styles, Bruiser is all about piling on the punches between fast evasion techniques that are great at keeping momentum. You'll very quickly gain access to a special skill called Repel, a parry that, timed well, allows you to execute a counterattack of your own. You can further upgrade the effectiveness of Repel by unlocking the Bruiser's Hidden Arts, which gives a sharp boost to your attack speed after successfully repelling an enemy's attack! ![]() But the Bruiser Style is not just about offense: it also gives Kaito access to quick evasive techniques. Dodge Roll, for example, lets you quickly escape from tricky situations after performing a Double Quickstep, perfect for when you're surrounded by enemies. Bruiser Style Advanced Technique To maximize Bruiser's damage, we recommend the Gripping Piledriver, which allows you to extend Kaito's Triple Rush combo after the finishing blow with an extra follow-up attack! If you're looking to squeeze in every last bit of damage you can, this is the attack to go for. ![]() Tank Style Overview Kaito was once a fearsome bodyguard for his previous patriarch and always come to his defense like a fully armored tank. Kaito's Tank style combines a fierce weapon-based offense with impenetrable defense. Grab n’ Smash lets Kaito automatically pick up and strike with nearby weapons — including bikes and traffic cones! He can also weather attacks from any direction using the Iron Guard technique, although it won’t save him from deadly attacks such as gun shots. By unlocking the Tank’s Hidden Arts skill, you’ll also gain increased defense after performing a Perfect Iron Guard. ![]() Tank style is also excellent for grabs. The Wrestler’s Throw skill lets you counter an enemy grab with a grapple of your own! Or, if you manage to get some space between you and your enemy, charge up a Prime Tackle for a heavy hitter that can even take out multiple foes! Tank Style Advanced Technique Unlock Iron Break to learn how to perform the Perfect Iron Guard skill during a rush combo, great for when you need to quickly defend against a group of enemies from any angle. We also recommend the ultimate upgrade to the Perfect Iron Guard with the EX Unyielding Counter, which allows you to convert a well-timed guard into a strong counter throw! The Kaito Files is available now as part of the Lost Judgment Ultimate Edition and Season Pass. It is also available separately on the Xbox Store (base game required to play). ![]() Lost JudgmentSEGA $59.99 $35.99 SEIZE THE TRUTH When a convicted police officer reveals the location of a murder victim, Private Detective Yagami is called to revisit an impossible case of two crimes committed at once. But as more victims pile up and Yagami unravels the truth, will the scales of justice tip in favor of defending the law or enacting vengeance? From the studio that brought you the Yakuza series, Lost Judgment weaves elements of investigative sleuthing, noir narrative and action combat into one mystery thriller. Take your detective expertise to the streets of Japan and defend those that the law fails to protect. INVESTIGATIVE ACTION Tap into Yagami's arsenal of private eye tricks to gather clues. From hi-tech gadgets including drones and social media listening devices to hardboiled gumshoe methods like scaling buildings and tracking suspects in the city. No stronger evidence than catching a suspect in the act. FREEFORM COMBAT Master Yagami's three unique, combo-heavy martial arts styles to overcome any situation from group ambushes to single-target takedowns. Further weaponize street fights with traffic cones, street signs, bicycles and beyond, plus customize each style with skill trees. DEEP UNDERCOVER Go undercover at a local high school as a club advisor to get to the root of a mysterious rise in delinquency as it relates to the case. Join the Dance Club, where you'll be grooving to the rhythm; the Robotics Club, tasking your ingenuity to build the ultimate Yagami-bot; a boxing gym, to stick and move against fierce opponents; and a bike gang, where underground racing is the only way to earn respect. HIT THE STREETS As you comb the open cities of Kamurocho and Ijincho in pursuit of the case, take a break and get to know the unique culture of each through bars and other nightlife hotspots. It may be worth taking on a Side Case to lend your detective skills to residents in need – you never know who holds what cards. Posted: 29 Mar 2022 10:00 AM PDT Summary
Fear and anxiety prevail after the darkest tales from Japanese folklore come to life in this first-person psychological horror game from Endflame, an independent developer based out of Barcelona, Spain. Set in a feudal era, Ikai revolves around Naoko, the priestess of a shrine struggling to defeat the spirits of her past and present. Ikai pays homage to the psychological horror genre as you take control of a defenseless main character incapable of attacking. However, it explores a new sense of horror by making the player face the monstrous threats directly instead of being combative or fleeing. Every mechanic of Ikai is meant to raise this relatable feeling of helplessness and to create an incredibly strained atmosphere throughout the player's journey through various world puzzles. ![]() With Ikai being EndFlame's first game as a fearful team of four, they wanted to get something out of the horror genre that…really, nobody has gone for yet. Without spoilers (of course) the developers wanted to do something different, and with that in mind, went with a defenseless main character. Drawing the protective seals as the main mechanic fosters this feeling of helplessness with slow, precise, natural, and concentrated movements. "Every mechanic of the game is meant to raise this relatable feeling of helplessness and create a tense atmosphere" says Laura Ripoll, Producer & Designer at Endflame. The slow, precise movements as a way of interaction resembles real life to foster immersion unlike anything else. With inspiration drawn from games like Bloober Team's Layers of Fear, to movies such as The Shining, the main source of inspiration for the team has been an anime called Inuyasha. "Inuyasha is the manga and anime series, which is set in feudal Japan and in a world full of evil creatures from Japanese folklore chasing the fragments of a sacred jewel that had been secured by a priestess until it shattered into hundreds of fragments. From there we took the idea of worldbuilding and the role of a priestess as the protector and responsible for restoring peace" says Rippoll. ![]() Be silent, do not disturb the evil… Or just run, run away from it all, if you can. Ikai is now available on Xbox Series X|S & Xbox One. ![]() IkaiPM Studios, Inc. $14.99 Ikai is a first-person psychological horror game drawing inspiration from Japanese folklore. Live the horror by the hand of its defining yokais and submerge into the superstitions of the past driven by a unique story and exploration. Ikai embodies the spirit of the classical psychological horror genre with a defenceless main character incapable of attacking the evil creatures. However, it explores a new sense of horror by making the player face the threats directly neither fleeing nor attacking. Every mechanic of the game is meant to raise this relatable feeling of helplessness and create a tense atmosphere. The slow, precise and natural movements as a way of interaction resemble real life's to foster immersion in the uncanny world of Ikai.
