Random: Japan Gets Exclusive Pokémon Treats For Valentine's Day Posted: 08 Jan 2021 02:00 PM PST When you love someone so much you want them to eat Pikachu's face. Japan always gets all the fun. They get to put their head in Gengar's mouth. They get all this super-cute Animal Crossing loungewear. Here in the UK, we're lucky if we get a localised release of a five-year old game (cough, Ace Attorney). Sorry to break all your hearts again, but we regret to report that Japan is back at it with these extremely cute Pokémon Valentine's gifts, including several different chocolate boxes, tote bags themed around the Eeveelutions and the Galar starters, and a Dragonite lunch box that we would literally kill for. Random: Scott Pilgrim Vs The World's New Cover Art Is A Parody Of Sonic Adventure Posted: 08 Jan 2021 01:00 PM PST Sonic vs Scott Pilgrim vs The World. Bryan Lee O'Malley - creator of Scott Pilgrim - is trolling us, isn't he. The new cover art for Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game features the titular boy antihero is a pose familiar to many of us, and that's because it's a direct replica of/homage to Sonic's iconic under-the-leg pose from the box art of Sonic Adventure. Random: This Super Mario-Themed Minecraft Parkour Level Looks Really Hard Posted: 08 Jan 2021 12:30 PM PST Jump, man! If you're a glutton for punishment, you probably don't think Minecraft is hard enough. You probably laugh in the face of Creepers. You eat Phantoms for breakfast. This Minecraft map, by builder midnighthoil, might be for you, you crazy son of a blaze. "Jump-and-Run" maps, or "JaR" as they're known to the community, are adventure maps built for parkour. If you're thinking "Minecraft parkour sounds extremely difficult", then you'd be right - despite not being a game known for its precision platforming, plenty of people have managed to master it well enough to build courses, designed to test the skill of others. Scott Pilgrim Vs The World: The Game Gets A Physical Release And Two Limited Editions Posted: 08 Jan 2021 12:00 PM PST Time to get a little buy-curious. Hello, again. Friend of a friend. Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game - based on the hugely successful graphic novel series rather than the Edgar Wright movie of the same name - is finally getting a physical release, and it is fiiiine. Featuring music from Anamanaguchi and visuals based on artist Bryan Lee O'Malley's original work, Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game originally came out in 2010 and is due for a re-release on Switch on January 14th. To celebrate the game's launch, Limited Run Games, Universal, and Ubisoft have put together a "Standard Edition" physical release, a "Classic Edition", which includes a clamshell box, a concert ticket, a map, the soundtrack, and a sticker sheet, and the "K.O. Edition" which will come with everything from the Classic Edition, plus a hardshell roadie case that contains a pop-up scene, working lights, and Anamanaguchi's music, as well as drumsticks, guitar picks, a trading card set, an enamel pin, and a guide book. The Switch Has Now Sold More Units Than The 3DS Posted: 08 Jan 2021 11:30 AM PST Absolute units. As of December 26th 2020, according to sales-tracking website VGChartz, the Nintendo Switch has finally outsold the 3DS, hitting an estimated 76,285,948 units sold. The 3DS, released in 2011, has so far sold 75,906,986 units. The "List of best-selling game consoles" page of Wikipedia hasn't been updated at the time of writing, but the Switch's increased sales at the end of last year - no doubt due to Christmas purchases - would bump it up to being the 11th best-selling console of all time, behind the Game Boy, the Wii, and the Nintendo DS family. The Switch has a way to go until it reaches the top five, though - the cutoff is 102 million units sold. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |

Talking Point: How Are You Keeping Fit And Active In 2021? Posted: 08 Jan 2021 10:00 AM PST NL staffers discuss how they're staying in shape. It's the end of the first full week of 2021! We hope you've had a pleasant and productive week despite general evidence to suggest that 2021 may end up being Part II to 2020's Godfather (or should that be Scary Movie II to 2020's Scary Movie?). While it arguably takes a brave person to make solid New Year resolutions when the global and local situation can turn on a dime and scupper your plans for Dry January to run a marathon every week, it's still important to remember that things won't always be like they are right now, and it's vital to think about our physical and mental health in these stressful times. Animal Crossing Helps UK Video Game Revenue Pass £4 Billion For The First Time Ever Posted: 08 Jan 2021 07:30 AM PST FIFA 21 was top, however. We all know that video gaming is big business, but how big? Well, the UK video game market passed the £4 billion marker in 2020 – the first time it has ever happened (thanks, MCV). Mini Review: The Hong Kong Massacre - A Hotline Miami Clone That's A Little On The Tough Side Posted: 08 Jan 2021 07:00 AM PST There is no spoon. One quick glance at The Hong Kong Massacre, and you'd be forgiven for thinking that Hotline Miami has been given the Legend of Zelda Space World treatment. On face value, the two games are remarkably similar, with the same birds-eye viewpoint and absurdly over-the-top violence right from the start. The Hong Kong Massacre is a wholly different experience, though, favouring a slower, more methodical approach to its bloody violence. It's also, we're sad to say, not quite as good as its direct inspiration. Set across various levels including rain-drenched rooftops and run-down apartment blocks, your goal is to simply wipe out every gun-toting enemy in the vicinity. At the start of the game, you're kitted out with a pair of handguns, but by progressing through the levels and performing well, you can subsequently unlock a shotgun, an uzi, and a rifle. Each weapon can then be upgraded, boosting their clip size, fire rate, and more. Everything in the game costs stars, which are rewarded for completing specific tasks in each level, like completing it within a certain timeframe or achieving a 100% hit rate. Nintendo Appears To Be Pulling DSiWare Games From The 3DS eShop Posted: 08 Jan 2021 06:30 AM PST Update: Some games return. Update: Just as mysteriously as their sudden removal, some of the DSiWare games that were recently taken down from the 3DS eShop have now returned. As reported by DelistedGames, a handful of the missing titles reappeared on the North American eShop yesterday (see below). It's only a small portion of those that vanished – apparently over 250 games were removed in total – but it's better than nothing. Perhaps more will return over the coming days? Video: So, Are People Still Playing 3DS Games Online? Posted: 08 Jan 2021 05:30 AM PST We put a variety of games to the test. Recently, we shared a video in which we booted up several Wii U titles to see if people were still playing them online. The results were pretty surprising, with plenty of games still remaining active despite the system's age and relatively low install base. So, what about the 3DS? Just like before, Nintendo Life YouTube star Jon has tested a nice variety of games available on the platform to see how easy – or hard – it is to find online matches. Big Nintendo titles like Mario Kart 7 and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS still have plenty of active users, but what about games like Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, or the infamous Metroid Prime: Federation Force? Tune In To AGDQ Later To Watch Someone Speedrun Super Mario 64 Blindfolded Posted: 08 Jan 2021 05:00 AM PST What do you call Luigi with no eyes? Lug. Awesome Games Done Quick, the charity fundraising speedrun tournament held at the start of every year, is ending on Sunday, January 10th with an all-dungeon run of Ocarina of Time. Before then, however, you can tune in to watch speedruns of Luigi's Mansion, Majora's Mask, Super Mario Sunshine - and a completely blindfolded run of Super Mario 64. It won't be the first time that someone's done a blindfolded speedrun of a game at AGDQ. In 2019, a fantastic blind run of the Wii Punch-Out!! was based entirely on the noises the game made, and in 2020 it got even more impressive with a two-player, one-controller blindfolded speedrun of the original Punch-Out!! Ex-Halo Composer 'Would Love' To Work With Nintendo If Master Chief Joins Smash Ultimate Posted: 08 Jan 2021 04:00 AM PST "...If Nintendo asked me that'd be great". It may well be over two years old at this point, but there are still three more fighters yet to be revealed for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. As you'll know if you've so much as glanced at the internet before, rumours and speculation surrounding certain potential characters are always doing the rounds, but one character that keeps popping up – perhaps out of fan desire more than anything – is Halo's Master Chief. A few years ago, the idea of Master Chief joining a Nintendo game would have been laughed out of the conversation immediately, but with Nintendo and Microsoft's relationship getting ever stronger recently, and with Ultimate receiving a hugely diverse roster of characters from across the industry, it can no longer be written off. Capcom Wants To Know What You Thought About Its Monster Hunter Rise Digital Event Posted: 08 Jan 2021 03:00 AM PST Share your innermost thoughts. Capcom's Monster Hunter Rise Digital Event showed off some new information relating to the upcoming Nintendo Switch title, and also gave us the exciting news that a demo is now available which lets you get to grips with the beast-bashing adventure. If you have any thoughts on the event, then Capcom is interested. The company has issued an online survey to pull in feedback and make future Digital Events even better. You'll need to submit the usual boring stuff – age, location, interests, etc – before you get the chance to answer the really important questions, but it's worth taking the time to fill it out if you have any particularly strong feelings about what you witnessed.
