Princess Charm Won't Be In Knockout City, But She Should Be

Posted: 18 Feb 2021 10:39 AM PST

I'm here to champion for Princess Charm, the standout of the trailer for Knockout City, which aired during February's Nintendo Direct. Princess Charm deserves to be added into Knockout City in some capacity going forward--heck, she should have her own game. But according her creators, it looks like she won't be a part of Knockout City beyond the reveal trailer.

Turns out the vulgar and sassy princess is primarily a marketing tool for the multiplayer-focused dodgeball game, according to freelance artists Anaïs and Martí.

"I don't think she will [appear in Knockout City]," Anaïs tweeted. "Each character from the trailer interview is just there to represent [a] famous video game genre--she's just meant to be a punk Princess Peach parody! But who knows."

PC Games Are On Sale For Cheap In Latest Newegg Sale

Posted: 18 Feb 2021 10:21 AM PST

PC hardware store Newegg is discounting a few dozen PC games for Steam and other launchers this weekend, offering game keys for much cheaper than we regularly see them. The Newegg game sale includes titles like Civilization VI, Star Wars Squadrons, and Frostpunk as well as DLC and season passes for certain games. The deals are available until Sunday, so now's a great time to pick up some new PC games for the weekend.

Each game in the sale is discounted upfront, but specific promo codes are available that drop the price even lower. The code varies for each game, so be sure to copy the promo code on the listing and apply it during checkout. The codes slash up to an additional 20% off, so you can get some of these games for dirt cheap.

Highlights from the games sale include Civ VI's Platinum Edition for just $27 (down from $100). This gets you both major expansions and a bunch of other DLC in addition to the base game, and the key redeems on Steam. Also included is the brutal city-management/survival game Frostpunk, which is just $8 in the sale. You can also nab its season pass for $18. Several EA titles are on sale for cheap in the sale as well, though note that these redeem on Origin, not Steam. Those include Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for $22, Mass Effect Andromeda for $9, Battlefield V for $13, and last year's Star Wars Squadrons for $21.59. Remember to use the promo code indicated under the game name on the listing for the full discount.

Hitman 3 Now Lets PC Players Import Hitman 1 And 2 Levels From Steam

Posted: 18 Feb 2021 09:48 AM PST

Delivering on a promise made before launch, Hitman 3 developer IO Interactive now has a way for you to bring over your Hitman 1 and 2 purchases to the Epic Games Store.

Like Hitman 2 before it, Hitman 3 lets you import all the stages from the older instalments for play in its upgraded engine. Hitman 3 launched exclusively on Epic's storefront on PC, however, with access to Hitman 1's levels free for the first ten days of sale. If you had invested into the World of Assassination trilogy on other platforms, however, you were out of luck, with both IO and Epic Games saying a solution was being worked on to ensure players wouldn't have to purchase the games again.

A new website will now let you connect platforms like Steam to your IOI Account, which can then be linked to your Epic Games Store account to make the transfer. IO says that once you've connected any platforms with valid purchases of Hitman 1 or 2, you'll be able to redeem Access Passes for free. This will unlock the respective stages in Hitman 3, with IO warning that this process cannot be undone or reversed.

Fortnite: Where To Find A Harpoon Gun Easily

Posted: 18 Feb 2021 09:32 AM PST

One of the first challenges you'll be tasked with completing for Fortnite's Season 2, Week 12 content is to hit different opponents with a harpoon gun. This challenge can seem tricky if you don't know where to look, but there is a spot on the map that makes it very simple.

Where To Find A Harpoon

This is the most surefire spot to go to find barrels containing harpoons
This is the most surefire spot to go to find barrels containing harpoons

The easiest spot to find a harpoon is Craggy Cliffs, which is located in the northern area of the map. We highly suggest gliding directly down there when you start the match, as others are surely going to be heading there to get the harpoons before they're gone. Once you've arrived, look for a brown wooden building with an area just beside it that holds several fishing barrels. It's near the middle of the town.

You can also try Lazy Lake, but the barrels there are more spread out, and it could just leave you frustrated. Start searching through the barrels until you find a harpoon, but keep in mind that it's random, so you may just find fishing poles. If you see someone else using a harpoon, even better--ambush them before they see you.

GTA Online Update Adds More Peyote Plants So You Can Trip Out, Man

Posted: 18 Feb 2021 08:26 AM PST

Rockstar Games has updated Grand Theft Auto V's multiplayer mode once more, bringing with it new cosmetics, more events to take part in, special sales, and the most important thing of all: hallucinogenic plants.

Additional Peyote plants are now in the wild across GTA Online. You'll have to "stray from the beaten path" to find them, Rockstar said. But if you do, you'll be treated to a trip that will make you see "hellish" visions and transform your body into "beastly" creatures. Eating these plants will also teach you lessons about the meaning of life and the truth of existence. "Consume at your own risk," Rockstar said.

Peyote plants are collectibles in GTA Online that have been added and removed from the game over the years, but now they are back. They are truly trippy experiences, as consuming them kicks off a vision where your character morphs into land or sea creature like a cat or a shark. Rockstar didn't announce the list of new plants or reveal where to find them, but people on the internet have already located them and you can find numerous videos on YouTube.

The easiest spot to go in order to destroy inflatable llamas is Salty Towers, located near the middle of the map. Just glide down there directly from the battle bus and you'll see two inflatable tubeman llamas located just next to the gas station. If you die, you can very easily return to this location again and finish the job. You can also head over to Sweaty Sands next, where you'll find another llama on the western edge. However, there are several other gas stations on the map, some of which have llamas.

Why It's No Surprise That Nintendo Is Making Splatoon 3

Posted: 18 Feb 2021 08:10 AM PST

One of the big announcements from the February Nintendo Direct on Wednesday was the reveal of Splatoon 3, the latest sequel in Nintendo's colorful shooter series. Some people were surprised that Nintendo is pushing ahead with a third entry despite the franchise not dominating headlines in the way that Mario Kart, Zelda, and Smash often do. The surprise, in the eyes of some, may also stem from the fact that Nintendo chose to announce a sequel to Splatoon as opposed to its other franchises.

Follow The Money

But it's really no big shock that Splatoon 3 is happening. As with most entertainment products, following the money is a good place to start. The original Splatoon for Wii U sold an impressive 4.95 million copies. That's a big number by itself, and it's more impressive when you consider the Wii U itself only sold 13.5 million systems over its lifetime.

Splatoon 2 for the Nintendo Switch was an even bigger hit, selling 11.90 million copies as of December 31, 2020. Combined, the two games have reached 16.85 million units sold, which is a massive result that demonstrates there is a clear business opportunity to make a third one.

Bungie Confirms New IP To Launch By 2025 And Plans To Expand Destiny Into "Additional Media"

Posted: 18 Feb 2021 07:46 AM PST

Destiny developer Bungie has big plans for the future. The company has re-confirmed its plans to launch its mysterious new IP by 2025, while the company is expanding the physical size of its Bellevue, Washington office and opening a brand-new publishing outfit in Amsterdam. Additionally, Bungie has teased plans to extend the Destiny franchise beyond games, while there has been a leadership shakeup on the development team as well.

New IP

Bungie said it plans to launch a new IP before 2025, but nothing is known about this game. In 2018, the Chinese internet company invested $100 million into Bungie to help the company make non-Destiny games, so this new IP might be one of them.

Bungie CEO Pete Parsons first mentioned his hope of releasing the new, non-Destiny IP by 2025 back in 2019, but this is the first time Bungie is cementing that hope in writing.
