Hades Almost Had Theseus As The Hero Instead Of Zagreus Posted: 11 Mar 2021 03:00 AM PST "We just found a better sort of angle on the protagonist". Hades has been incredibly successful for Supergiant Games. It's an excellent roguelike action RPG, and a lot of its appeal comes down to a charming story. Focusing on Zagreus, Prince of the Underworld, you can hardly imagine Hades without him. However, according to Supergiant Games, its original plan would've seen us playing as Theseus, the mythical Athenian king. Even if you're not familiar with Greek mythology, Theseus is a name you might have heard a lot recently, thanks to the Disney+ series WandaVision, which referenced the famous "Ship of Theseus" thought experiment in its series finale. Sick Of Waiting For A New F-Zero? Far S Ultra Might Tickle Your Fancy Posted: 11 Mar 2021 02:00 AM PST Comes to Switch this month. As we continue lamenting the lack of a new F-Zero game, Switch owners have got a few racers to choose from, but not many futuristic ones. Between Fast RMX, Redout, and the upcoming BallisticNG NX Edition, next up is Far S Ultra – the 'Far' stands for 'Future Aero Racing', by the way – which launches on the eShop on March 26th. Developed by Nurendsoft, it previously launched for PC and Xbox One back in 2019 but mostly flew under the radar, only holding 9 (mostly positive) user reviews on Steam. Random: This Animal Crossing Screenshot "Probably" Has Nothing To Do With The Rumoured 4K Switch Posted: 10 Mar 2021 07:45 PM PST Just to let you know... Nintendo's official Animal Crossing Twitter account recently sent out a tweet about the next in-game event for New Horizons. While the majority of responses were about Shamrock Day, a number of followers have noticed the screenshot attached to this tweet is a much higher resolution than the other ones posted by the same account. Sakurai Explains Why Xenoblade's Rex Isn't A Smash Ultimate DLC Fighter Posted: 10 Mar 2021 06:05 PM PST "it was impossible". During last week's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate presentation, Sakurai explained how the team considered having Xenoblade Chronicles 2's protagonist Rex fight alongside Pyra and Mythra but it simply wasn't possible due to the limitations of the game. Sakurai has now elaborated on this in his latest Famitsu column, once again explaining how the idea the team had in mind (of two different fighters at once) was ruled out due to technical barriers. In the end, it was decided the fighter would transform into two similar but different characters. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Wipeout "Love Letter" BallisticNG Is Speeding Onto Switch Posted: 10 Mar 2021 04:55 PM PST "it will be ready when it's ready". If you're looking for a fresh take on the fast and futuristic anti-gravity racing genre, one game worth keeping an eye out for is BallisticNG by Neognosis. It's described by the developer as a "love letter" to the original Wipeout trilogy. It's been around on PC for some time now, but in the latest update over on the official Steam news page, the team has announced it's started work on a Nintendo Switch port titled BallisticNG NX Edition. Neognosis is working on this version itself to ensure the PC and console versions are as consistent as possible. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |

Beach Buggy Racing 2: Island Adventure Speeds Onto Switch Next Week Posted: 10 Mar 2021 10:00 AM PST Explore a "massive interactive map". Launching next week on the Nintendo Switch eShop is Beach Buggy Racing 2: Island Adventure, an action-packed kart racer developed by Vector Unit. With all the kart racer elements you'd expect like split-screen racing, multi-event Championships, skill-based modes and more, this new entry looks to be a bigger and bolder sequel to 2017's Beach Buggy Racing. We thought the original was a decent if relatively tame affair, so the team will no doubt be hoping to up the excitement this time around. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Posted: 10 Mar 2021 09:30 AM PST The end of an era. With Super Mario Maker's servers being completely shut down on 31st March (the original Wii U game, that is, not Super Mario Maker 2 on Switch), one indie developer has decided to give it a mighty send-off. That send-off arrives in the form of a 36-course feast courtesy of Ultra Dolphin Revolution, a developer which has been wonderfully dedicated to the Wii U throughout its life and beyond. The studio has launched at least one game per year on the Wii U eShop throughout the Switch's time on the market, with the most recent titles being 2020's Space Hunted: The Lost Levels, and Seasonal Assistant which launched just over a month ago. The Guys Behind Streets Of Rage 4 And Scott Pilgrim Are Making A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Game Posted: 10 Mar 2021 07:10 AM PST Coming to "unspecified consoles" and PC. While they never really went away, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will hold a special place in the heart of many a NES and SNES owner. The 8-bit entry was massively popular during the initial run of the TMNT cartoon show in the early '90s, while Turtles in Time became one of the SNES' most beloved side-scrolling brawlers. Now, we're getting a game which looks suspiciously like a spiritual successor to that title in the form of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge – and, perhaps even more exciting is the fact that it's being developed by Scott Pilgrim vs. The World studio Tribute Games and is being distributed by Streets of Rage 4 publisher Dotemu. Sega Wants To Know How It Can 'Enhance Your Gaming Experiences' Posted: 10 Mar 2021 06:30 AM PST Have your say. Hot on the heels of Atlus and its survey asking about your dream Switch ports, Sega has shared its very own set of questions in a bid to learn more about your gaming habits. The company has published a survey made up of 20-or-so questions touching upon topics such as your gaming devices, favourite genres, and even anime. It's all pretty straightforward for the most part, but a question near the end invites you to write out any ideas you have on how Sega can "enhance your gaming experiences." Posted: 10 Mar 2021 06:00 AM PST "We inspire each other way more than any outside influences could". Last month, Swedish developer Tarsier Studios released Little Nightmares II on Switch and other platforms. The sequel to the team's previous horror-themed puzzle-platformer (which arrived on Switch in 2018 as Little Nightmares: Complete Edition), this second adventure follows Six and her experiences with a new character as they creep past enemies and try to survive in a chilling, unforgiving, yet strangely beautiful 2.5D world. Tarsier was formed in 2004 and the team's credits include significant contributions to Media Molecule's LittleBigPlanet series and, more recently, the excellent Nintendo-published The Stretchers. Little Nightmares II is another fine addition to their growing catalogue and we recently caught up with senior narrative designer David Mervik to discuss the its development, the studio's way of working, and future plans. Video: Pokémon Fan "Fixes" Diamond And Pearl Remakes With This Slick Concept Trailer Posted: 10 Mar 2021 05:30 AM PST "The way I wanted them to be". After years of rumours, February's Pokémon presentation finally confirmed that Pokémon Diamond & Pearl is getting a Switch remake. Developed by ILCA Inc, the remake will take us back to Sinnoh once more later this year, alongside 2022's Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The game has garnered attention for using a chibi art style, chosen to ensure the games are "faithfully reproduced and colourfully revitalized", recreating that original sense of scale. Evidently, that choice has left many fans unhappy, and 3D Artist Millennium has created their own "reimagined" take on that reveal. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Video: Check Out This Side-By-Side Comparison Of Apex Legends Running On Switch And PS4 Pro Posted: 10 Mar 2021 04:50 AM PST How's the Switch edition looking? After facing numerous delays and much speculation, EA's free-to-play battle royale Apex Legends finally arrived on Switch yesterday. Developed by Respawn Entertainment and ported by Panic Button, we've heard a few things previously about the challenges in bringing it over. Panic Button has previously outlined the Switch port's technical performance, running at 720p docked, 576p in handheld mode, both with a fixed 30 frames-per-second. But you might be wondering, how does that look compared to rival platforms? Read the full article on nintendolife.com |

Random: Modder Turns The Floor Into Lava In Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury Posted: 10 Mar 2021 03:30 AM PST It's still possible to beat the new expansion. Raise your hand if you played "the floor is lava" as a kid. It's one of the simplest games you could play, jumping from sofa to sofa as you tried to avoid being "killed" by the "lava-filled floor". It's no surprise video games are full of variants on this idea, and most Super Mario games already feature lava in some capacity, Super Mario 3D World included. We can't say we'd expected someone to mod this idea into Bowser's Fury, though. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Fortnite's Next Season Begins With A Single-Player Narrative Mission Posted: 10 Mar 2021 03:00 AM PST "Our most ambitious story cinematic yet". Fortnite's latest season is coming to a close, but Chapter 2: Season 6 is ready to start on March 16th. Uniquely for the popular battle royale, that's kicks off with a special single-player narrative event, called the Zero Crisis Finale. Outlined by Epic Games on a recent blog post, this event will bridge the gap between Season 5 and 6, showing the "conclusion of Agent Jones' mission". It's one that's seen iconic characters like the Terminator, Predator, Ryu & Chun-Li and Ripley & the Xenomorph Queen appear throughout. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
