The Bit Wars were an intriguing time in gaming, particularly in the era of one-upmanship between the Super NES and the SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis. While there could be arguments over sound chips, Boost processing etc, we also saw special enhancement chips produced that'd go within the game cartridges to improve performance or make certain new techniques possible. Individual games could be standard bearers with these enhancements, something we don't see in the modern era. One example with the SNES was the SA1 chip, which gave boosts in areas like clock speed, faster RAM and more. Perhaps the most famous example of a game using this chip was Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, though the enhancements skipped the PAL territory (Europe / Australia and New Zealand) at the time. It Seems Game Builder Garage Will Be Digital-Only In Europe Posted: 09 May 2021 09:00 AM PDT Sorry, physical collectors. Earlier this week, Nintendo announced Game Builder Garage for Switch. It gives players the chance to create their own games. Alongside the reveal, we got an early look at the North American box art - confirming a physical release was on the way. Unfortunately, it seems not every region will be receiving a hard copy of the game. Yes, the Japanese video game company was founded on 8th May 1996. Over the past 25 years, it's worked on games like Mega Man Zero, Mega Man ZX, Gal Gun, Azure Striker Gunvolt, Mighty Gunvolt, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon and Blaster Master Zero.
