Animal Crossing Monopoly Sweeps Reddit, But Nobody Knows If It's Real Posted: 06 Jul 2021 09:27 AM PDT Rather convincing images of what appears to be an Animal Crossing-themed version of Monopoly have appeared on Reddit, but nobody's sure if it's actually a real product that you'll be able to buy soon. User u/calysunflower posted pictures of the board, game box, and villager pieces, so if it's a fake, it's a pretty detailed one. The Monopoly board itself is significantly smaller than traditional Monopoly boards, but that's not uncommon with alternate themed versions of the game. The user who posted the images says that they bought it for $25 at their local Walmart. Googling the model number from the game's bar code reveals placeholder listings at several European toy retailers, which would seem to indicate that it's legitimate, but it's hard to know for sure until it releases officially. As with most adaptations of Monopoly, the game replaces the Monopoly spaces you expect with Animal Crossing-themed spaces instead. The usual railroad spaces are Dodo Airlines, and the properties themselves are fruit, fossil, fish, or bugs. The iconic Go space, Go to Jail, and Free Parking are all present, however. Game Of Thrones Prequel House Of The Dragon Adds Milly Alcock, Emily Carey Posted: 06 Jul 2021 09:27 AM PDT HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon has cast Milly Alcock (The Gloaming) and Emily Carey (Get Even) in recurring roles for the upcoming show, according to Variety. The new spinoff is expected to debut sometime in 2022. Alcock has been cast as "the young version of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, the king's first-born child, she is of pure Valyrian blood, and she is a dragonrider." Carey has been cast as "the young version of Alicent Hightower, the daughter of Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King, and the most comely woman in the Seven Kingdoms." Chances are, though, if you haven't seen or read Game of Thrones at any point over the last few decades (the novels, if you can believe, started in 1996), these names of places and characters won't mean much to you. Fortunately, the show may prove to be a worthy entry to the franchise for newcomers. Greenlit last fall, this first 10-episode season is set 300 years before the events of the Game of Thrones series, meaning that most fan-favorite characters won't be appearing simply because they don't exist yet. The series is inspired by author George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood, a sort of historical account of the world of Westeros, focusing on the rise of House Targaryen. Continue Reading at GameSpot |
Phil Spencer Suggests Perfect Dark Reboot Helps Xbox Lineup Become Less Male-Oriented Posted: 06 Jul 2021 09:04 AM PDT We don't know a lot about the upcoming Perfect Dark reboot for Xbox Series X, but Phil Spencer has now said that the fact that the series features a female protagonist is important for the console. In a recent interview, the head of Xbox told IGN Unlocked that details are thin on the ground for the reboot as of yet, but also said that main character Joanna Dark offers "a lot of modern opportunities" compared to the console's "men-with-guns" lineup. "I think it's awesome that for us we can focus on a female protagonist in our lineup, we don't have a lot of that in our our first-party," he said. "I think Joanna offers a lot of modern opportunities that I love to see the team focusing on, having a strong protagonist..." The new Perfect Dark game is being developed by The Initiative, which is a studio created specifically for the purpose of rebooting the series as its first project. The reboot is led by Darrel Gallagher, who formerly worked as the studio head for Crystal Dynamics during its reimagining of Tomb Raider. Continue Reading at GameSpot |
Tunic Challenges You To Find All Its Secrets And I Can't Wait To Try Posted: 06 Jul 2021 09:00 AM PDT Tunic is a game of secrets. Despite my best efforts, I wasn't able to discover many concrete details about what the game even was prior to the release of its Xbox demo--it looked like a Legend of Zelda-like starring a cute little fox. But after getting my hands on it, I discovered that Tunic's cute imagery belies a foreboding and tense atmosphere, as well as a compelling mystery at its core that will bring me back whenever the game fully launches. As it turns out, the air of mystique surrounding what Tunic even is and what the game's story is about is all intentional. The game has been purposely marketed this way in hopes that players go into Tunic already thinking that there must be more to it than initially meets the eye. "A really important part of playing the game that we want to impart to people is that feeling of mystery, is that feeling of being in a place where you don't belong, that feeling of taking a few tentative steps into this hostile place full of monsters and treasure, just knowing that there are cool things out there, but not knowing where to go first," designer Andrew Shouldice told me, following my time spent with the demo. Fortnite: Where To Place Welcome Gifts in Holly Hatchery - Week 5 Legendary Quest Posted: 06 Jul 2021 08:58 AM PDT In Fortnite Season 7 Week 5, players will need to place welcome gifts in Holly Hatchery. That's the new name of Holly Hedges, and one visit to the location will explain the revision: it's been taken over by aliens. A massive prismatic cube now engulfs the center of the locale, and dataminers say it will get bigger as the season goes on, bringing new low-gravity mechanics to the island. But for now, let's focus on those Fortnite welcome gift locations and earn you 30,000 XP. This challenge will go live on Wednesday, July 7, at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET. Holly Hatchery Welcome GiftsInstructed by Sunny to once more greet the aliens with open arms--or is it another of Slone's infiltration missions?-- you'll need to head to Holly Hatchery and place two welcome gifts to complete this Legendary Quest. Thankfully, the named location offers seven spots to do so, so it's a pretty quick completion if you can survive the big crowds of sightseeing opponents likely to land there this week. Here are all seven welcome gift locations in Holly Hatchery:
![]() Interacting with any two of them will complete this Legendary Quest and earn you another 30,000 XP toward your Season 7 Battle Pass, which will also give you Battle Stars that you can spend to unlock new cosmetics right away, or set them aside for when Superman arrives in a few weeks. Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto Says Playing Pokemon Go "Is A Dream Come True" Posted: 06 Jul 2021 08:42 AM PDT Nintendo's recent 81st annual general meeting of shareholders offered an opportunity for those present to ask questions of some of Nintendo's top leadership, including the most important question of all--what are your favorite games? For legendary Nintendo game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, the answer was definitively Pokemon Go. Other answers weren't entirely surprising, with most of the Nintendo executives present, including President Shuntaro Furukawa, responding with some variation of old Nintendo games, with a few newer titles, like Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit or the recent rerelease of the Famicom Detective Club games on Switch, also getting shoutouts. Miyamoto's full answer was a little different from most of Nintendo's other executives. For starters, he begins with a bit of a humble brag by saying he mostly sticks to playing games he designed himself, and since he doesn't play many other games he isn't influenced much by games from other companies. He does go on, however, to say Pac-Man and Tetris proved to be influences early on in his game development career. Continue Reading at GameSpot |

Venom's Tom Hardy Lands Screenwriting Credit For Let There Be Carnage Posted: 06 Jul 2021 08:25 AM PDT Tom Hardy is ready to show the world how much he loves Eddie Brock and the Venom character. As the star of the upcoming sequel Let There Be Carnage, as well as 2018's inaugural Venom film, Hardy will also get his first writing credit as he contributed to the story for Carnage. Speaking to Empire, returning screenwriter Kelly Marcel talks about Hardy's involvement with the story and how he wants his love of the character to shine through the script. Marcel and Hardy's professional collaboration goes back all the way to 2008's Bronson where Marcel served as story editor. Paddington 3 Expected To Start Filming In Early 2022 Posted: 06 Jul 2021 08:12 AM PDT Paddington 3 is expected to begin filming sometime during Q2 2022, according to Deadline. The date was shared by production company Studiocanal during the Cannes Film Festival. Expectations are high for this third outing to surpass its predecessors--after all, Paddington 2 was the film that briefly dethroned Citizen Kane as the greatest film of all time, according to Rotten Tomatoes. It was announced earlier this year that Paddington 3 was finally in development after Paddington 2 hit theaters in 2018, along with the fact that Paul King--who wrote and directed the first two films--would be involved in some capacity, but not directing. It was later announced that King would instead be directing the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory prequel Wonka, which was announced in January. The Wonka reboot, in turn, isn't expected to hit theaters until sometime in March 2023. Actor Timothee Chalamet (Call Me by Your Name) was cast in the titular role this May. Fortnite LeBron James Skin Leaked Alongside King's Bling Quests Posted: 06 Jul 2021 07:56 AM PDT Fortnite dataminers are at it again, this time apparently unearthing a major crossover with LA Lakers star LeBron James. The King's Bling Quests and associated cosmetics seem just about ready to arrive in the game, and we could see The King drop onto the island of Apollo in just a few days with a brand-new Fortnite LeBron James skin. Dataminers say the King's Bling Quests will allow players to earn various cosmetics for the basketball superstar beginning next week when he arrives on July 14. Across his cosmetic set, players can gild their items like Fortnite's gold-obsessed original anti-hero, Midas. If players complete all of LeBron's related challenges, they can eventually unlock a gold slider, letting them choose just how gilded they want each item to be. While images of the Fortnite LeBron skin or his related accessories like Back Bling, Pickaxe, and Emotes have not yet been discovered, they're expected to be decrypted by the always avid Fortnite datamining community when Fortnite patch 17.20 goes live next week, a day before LeBron's expected due date.
