10 Absolute Best Xbox Black Friday Deals Posted: 26 Nov 2021 09:33 AM PST This one's for the Xbox fans. Whether you're rocking an Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One, you have an avalanche of deals to sort through. One way to do that is to visit our best Black Friday Xbox deals page. But if you don't have time for all that and you just want to see the cream of the crop deals, you've landed at the right place. Below, you'll find the top 10 absolute best Xbox deals available this Black Friday weekend. If any of the deals go out of stock or change price, we'll update this page as soon as possible with another great deal in its place. Let's get to it, shall we? TL;DR - 10 Best Xbox DealsThese are the best of the best. Below, we'll dig into why each selection deserves a spot on this list. 1. Call of Duty: Vanguard (Xbox One)Call of Duty is reliably the bestselling game each year. Vanguard brings players back to the WWII era, with the usual array of campaign, multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone modes. There's a lot here to sink your teeth into, so if you want it, grab it before the deal goes away. The cross-gen version of the game was on sale for this price before selling out. If it comes back, we'll put it here. 2. WD_BLACK 5TB Game Drive External HDThe internal storage that comes on an Xbox Series X or S probably won't get you very far, especially if you subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (about which, see below). And while you can expand the consoles' storage with the official expansion card from Samsung, you don't get much storage for the price. A better idea for most people is to get a cheap external drive, like this WD_BLACK Game Drive. It gives you 5TB of extra storage. While you can't play Series X-optimized games from it, you can store them there for a quick transfer to onboard storage when you want to play them. And you can store and play all the previous-gen Xbox games. 3. Marvel's Guardians of the GalaxyOne of the most overlooked games of the year, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is way better than most people expected. Perhaps Marvel's Avengers lowered expectations, but this isn't a live service game like that. This is a single-player experience from start to finish, with some of the best characters and snappiest dialogue of any game all year. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. 4. Xbox Wireless Controllers (Assorted Colors)Playing games with friends is always fun. It's also fun to have a splash of color in your gaming setup. For Black Friday at Walmart, you can grab official wireless Xbox controllers in an assortment of special colors for $49 each. That's a cool $15 off the MSRP. Pick the color you like best and grab this deal before it's gone. 5. Mass Effect Legendary EditionThe Mass Effect trilogy is one of the most ambitious video game projects ever undertaken. It tells an epic, galaxy-spanning story about a group of unforgettable characters. And your choices really do change the course of the games. This edition comes with all the single-player content from all three entries, plus DLC, with upgraded 4K visuals and improved controls and UI. This is the definitive edition of these phenomenal games. 6. Far Cry 6Far Cry 6 has pitch-perfect FPS controls and drops you on a massive map to explore at your leisure. You'll take missions from memorable characters, overtake enemy outposts, and pet an adorable dog named Chorizo. What's not to love? Plus, it just came out and it's already on sale for $35. That's a very good deal. 7. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate - 3-Month SubscriptionEven at full price, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is one of the best deals in gaming. It gets you access to online games, plus several games a month you can keep and play as long as you're a member, plus access to a treasure trove of great titles -- including all first-party Microsoft games. That means you can play Forza Horizon 5 at no additional cost. You'll be able to play Halo Infinite's campaign the day it comes out (December 8). It's an incredible deal, especially on sale for $24.99. Btw, this stacks up to 36 months, so even if you're already a member, you can add three months for cheap right now. Get it. Enjoy it. 8. Xbox Elite Series 2 ControllerThe best thing about this high-end controller is how customizable it is. It comes with all kinds of parts you can swap in and out, including multiple thumbsticks as well as paddles on the back you can assign to any button. You can also set hair triggers to give you quicker reaction times and adjust the tension on the analog sticks. It's all about tweaking the controller to your exact liking. 9. NBA 2K22The Xbox Series X version of this game typically costs $69.99, but both it and the Xbox One versions are on sale right now for $26. This is a killer deal on the best basketball game on the market. It comes with all the standard modes, from MYCAREER to MYLEAGUE, plus additional real-life NBA and WNBA locations. 10. 65-Inch LG C1 OLED 4K HDR Smart TVLast but certainly not least is a great deal on one of our very favorite TVs for gaming, sports, and pretty much anything else you want to watch at home. It comes with an absurdly gorgeous screen, with HDR and true colors and true blacks. It also has four HDMI 2.1 ports, so it can take full advantage of all the high-end features of the Xbox Series X (and PS5 if you have one of those). This is the TV to get. All the Best Black Friday Deals and SalesAnd that does it for our top 10 absolute best Xbox deals for Black Friday 2021. Ring Fit Adventure Black Friday Deal: Best Price Ever Posted: 26 Nov 2021 07:06 AM PST As far as Nintendo Switch deals are concerned, this Black Friday sale on Ring Fit Adventure is one of the best going. It's pretty unusual to see any first-party Nintendo Switch games get substantial sales, ever, but this Black Friday is bringing some of the best Nintendo deals we've ever seen. Black Friday Ring Fit Adventure DealRing Fit Adventure for Nintendo Switch has pretty much never been on sale before, so this Black Friday deal is basically like discovering Sasquatch, or the Loch Ness Monster. Such a sighting has been rumored in the past, but never materialized until now. In all seriousness, Ring Fit Adventure is a great game that also happens to have some pretty awesome fitness goals built into the gameplay itself. It's been out for over two years now, and Ring Fit Adventure has literally changed peoples' lives. It's an improvement over the Wii Fit accessory and game from the good old Wii days, and it's a legit great workout, too. Nintendo, being Nintendo, has managed to create a fitness app that's also a charming, fun, and most of all, a satisfying video game experience. It appeals to many different sensibilities at the same time, the hallmark of good design. For example, maybe your motivating factor for playing video games is to progress the story. Well, Ring Fit Adventure has a story to progress. But maybe it's the feeling of achievement that draws you to video games. Ring Fit's got you covered. Maybe you just want a novel, and effective, way to get a workout. Great news for you: it's got that, too. Whether you're getting this as a gift for someone or for yourself, Ring Fit Adventure is one of the best Nintendo Switch Black Friday deals happening right now. Considering the fact there was a point when Ring Fit Adventure was tough to come by, I recommend grabbing this one sooner rather than later. Battlefield 2042: Portal Mode Has Already Been Used to Make a Battle Royale Posted: 26 Nov 2021 07:01 AM PST Battlefield 2042's Portal mode has already been used to make a Call of Duty: Warzone-style Battle Royale mode within the shooter. While featuring some interesting workarounds, the custom-made "Warfield 100" includes a pre-game lobby, randomized loot, a closing circle, and more. As reported by MP1ST, a Reddit user going by the handle u/chbmg recently revealed that they'd created their very own Battle Royale within 2042's new Portal creation tools. "After spending more hours in the rules editor than I care to admit, I'm pleased to announce the creation of a full battle royale experience for Battlefield Portal," revealed the user on Reddit. In the post, chbmg explains a number of features found in the mode - many of which are similar to other modern Battle Royales such as Call of Duty Warzone. While the user does note that features in Warfield 100 could change over time following tweaks and bug fixes, there's still plenty to work with in the mode's current format. When jumping into a game of Warfield 100, players are spawned into a pre-lobby area. Equipped with a random loadout, players can use this time to engage in some handy target practice while they wait for the lobby to fill. Players are then terminated and dropped straight into the Warfield. While the game mode hasn't quite managed to implement a battle bus or dropship to get you into the action, players entering the game-proper do come in via parachute and are equipped with a starter pistol as well as some grenades. It's at this point where things start to get interesting. As chbmg explains in their post, the Portal editor doesn't allow the placement of objects such as ground loot for players to pick up and replace their pistol with. In a clever workaround, the Reddit user's game mode indicates to players when they are near a weapon through an on-screen message which displays the words "on-loot". From here, players must crouch repeatedly three times, at which point the Warfield gods will replace their currently held weapon with the nearby items. Other makeshift workarounds include the game's shrinking circle, which instead of featuring deathly gas or other substances, is made up of "a bunch of "hacky" AI players" who form an outer circle and close in towards a smaller circle every two minutes. Venturing outside of the boundaries set by the circle of AI players, who are visibly highlighted in red during the mode to avoid confusion, results in players taking damage and can cause death. Similar to Warzone, dying in Warfield 100 sends you to a prison where you can fight for your chance to escape. Where Warzone (usually) only allows you one chance in the gulag, Warfield 100 is slightly more forgiving. According to the Reddit post, each time a player dies in the game, they must make an additional kill in the prison area in order to be able to rejoin the Warfield. That kill limit is however reached if a player needs more than four kills to leave the prison - at which point they are terminated and out of the game. Following a positive reception from those on Battlefield's subreddit, chbmg took to thanking fans for their kind words. "Wow, I didn't expect a big reception since I'm a newbie to Reddit. Thank you very much for the awards and kind words," they said before noting that the mode still needs a decent amount of work. For more on Battlefield 2042, make sure to check out this article detailing a number of major fixes Dice are making to the game. Xbox Knows It Needs to Improve Its Video Capture and Sharing Features Posted: 26 Nov 2021 05:46 AM PST Jason Ronald, Xbox's director of project management, has both acknowledged that the Xbox Series X/S' video capture and sharing features still have a long way to go while also confirming it is a priority for the team to get them right. As reported by VGC, Ronald was speaking on the Iron Lords podcast and was asked if the company was still focused on improving Xbox Series X/S' Game DVR/in-game recording capabilities. "I will definitely say that Game DVR is the one area – the capture and share experience – that I wish we were able to make more progress [on] this year than we were able to," Ronald replied. "It is definitely a priority for us. "We definitely hear the feedback. We have made some changes and we have made some improvements to the reliability and the quality of the captures but we know we still have work to do here. So that is definitely a priority for us and something that we're going to continue to iterate on." Ronald also recommended that people check out the Xbox Insider program, as that is where the team tests out new features and improvements and is a great place to have their feedback heard. "You know, the best thing I can recommend is if you're not in the [Xbox] Insider rings, get on the Insider rings, so that as we bring new capabilities and improvements, we want that feedback to know where we're meeting the bar, and where we're not meeting the bar," Ronald said. "But definitely, message heard, and like I said, it's definitely an area that I wish we're able to make more progress this year than we did but it will definitely be a priority for 2022." Ronald shared that the team had heard the complaints back in January 2021 and, as with many things, these problems can take some time to solve. Babylon's Fall Contains Gear and Emotes 'Borrowed' From Final Fantasy 14 Posted: 26 Nov 2021 04:13 AM PST Babylon's Fall, the upcoming online fantasy RPG from Platinum Games and Square Enix contains a range of gear and emotes 'borrowed' from Final Fantasy 14. During a recent closed beta for Babylon's Fall, a number of players noticed that the game's armour sported some similar looks to the Final Fantasy MMO. Following speculation, producer Yosuke Saito confirmed the connection in an update post, confirming that not only had Babylon's Fall borrowed a number of assets from FF14 but also that this came following an offer from Final Fantasy 14's director Naoki Yoshida. "To get straight to the point: yes, Babylon's Fall contains gear and emote data borrowed from Final Fantasy 14," confirms Saito in the post. "When I gave my Babylon's Fall presentation at a company meeting, Final Fantasy 14 Producer & Director Naoki Yoshida was also in attendance and offered his help, to which I replied, "Yes, please!" This is how the plan came to fruition. We then carefully implemented the data while closely coordinating with the Final Fantasy XIV team." Saito says that by borrowing data from FF14, the team has been able to add a far greater range of gear and emotes to Babylon's Fall than originally planned. That being said, the producer was also keen to point out that the majority of the gear sets that players will be able to obtain in-game are unique to Babylon's Fall itself. "The data borrowed from Final Fantasy 14 was used for gear from the introduction to mid-level range of the game, which is why they were so prevalent in the Closed Beta Test," concluded Saito before apologising for any concerns that players may have felt following their recent hands-on experience with the game. Elsewhere in the post, Yoshida gave his thoughts on Babylon's Fall borrowing assets from FF14. After stating that he was "kind of jealous" not to be making a hardcore action-based hack and slash game himself, the FF14 director noted that "preparing all of the gear variations needed for the gameplay [would be] really difficult." "So, I said, 'Let's use FFXIV's assets too. We have so many, it'd be a shame to limit them to FFX14 alone,' and that's how it all started," explains Yoshida in the post. The director then goes on to confirm that the use of any FF14 assets in Babylon's Fall would be "fully supervised" by the Final Fantasy 14 team while also admitting that at the time, he didn't think it would become such a hot topic. For more on Babylon's Fall make sure to check out our preview of the game in which we discuss some of the factors which have contributed to its rough start to life. Posted: 26 Nov 2021 03:10 AM PST A YouTuber has offered a ten thousand dollar reward to anyone who can successfully create a multiplayer mod for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The content creator, who goes by the YouTube handle PointCrow and runs a channel featuring a range of Zelda-based content, has announced a five-figure reward on Twitter for anyone who can make a Breath of the Wild multiplayer mod.
While cash promises can often be found around social media, it seems that PointCrow is pretty serious when it comes to getting the mod made. Alongside a tweet notifying fans of the mod-based bounty, the creator has laid out a number of stipulations that people must follow in order to claim the prize. While a full list of terms and conditions can be found in the tweet above, highlights include the fact that the mod must be playable anywhere on the map, grant PoinCrow access to the mod exclusively a week or two prior to release and be free to play for anyone who wishes to access it. Initially, the terms of the bounty also stated that the mod would need to host multiplayer for up to four people, however, in a recent update to the terms, PointCrow lowered this requirement meaning that it now only needs to support two players. This is, of course, likely a huge amount of work for any modders involved, and many have been quick to point out that $10,000 would be unlikely to cover the hours needed in professional game design. Of course, we've seen solo modders perform spectacular feats before but, given the timescale, the reward is far more likely to go to someone who has already started the project than one who starts now. For those hoping to claim the $10,000 reward, it should be noted that PointCrow has also stipulated that the mod must be finished at least two months before the release date of Breath of the Wild's sequel. As Breath of the Wild 2 is currently aiming for a release window sometime in 2022, technically that means the bounty could already have expired - though it's far more likely that you've got a good few months still left on the clock. For more quirky Breath of the Wild news, make sure to check out this piece detailing the altered take on Google Street View that one software developer created for the game. Best PS5 and Xbox Gaming Monitor Black Friday Deals in the UK Posted: 26 Nov 2021 01:43 AM PST Black Friday is finally here, at long last. You might've been waiting a while to upgrade your gaming monitor, so we've got you covered this savings season. Below you'll find a selection of some of the very best deals we could find on 4K UHD, 1080p, and 1440p monitors that are absolutely perfect for all your PS5, Xbox, and PC needs. Happy shopping. Top Deal: Top Up £50 Amazon Credit and Get £6 FreeBefore you buy anything at Amazon, make sure you've taken advantage of this Black Friday offer. Top up your Amazon account by £50, and you'll get £6 in extra credit for free. This is a perfect way to save some extra cash in the sales. Black Friday: Best Gaming Monitors for PS5 and XboxWe've got a great range of monitors here for Black Friday. If you want 4K on your PS5, I'd suggest aiming for 4K 60Hz monitors. Not a lot of games support 120Hz, and if you're serious about playing Call of Duty or Halo Infinite at 120FPS, go for a 1080p-1440p monitor instead. HDMI 2.1 4K 120HZ Monitors for PS5 and XboxThere's a couple of deals here, but honestly, the reality right now for 4K 120Hz monitors, is the tech just isn't affordable yet. Similar to 4K TVs, you're going to have to pay at least £800, on a good day. I've still included the deals here, and added the LG C1 OLED 4K TV deal below as well, which is also perfect for PS5 gaming at 120Hz. If you're willing to wait, LG is also releasing a 40-inch HDMI 2.1 TV soon, so it might be worth waiting for that instead.
