Call of Duty Warzone Mobile Coming In 2022 - Report

Posted: 08 Dec 2021 07:40 AM PST

According to industry insider Tom Henderson--who just this week also dropped details on a rumored expansion for Assassin's Creed Valhalla--Activision is planning to release a mobile version of Call of Duty: Warzone in 2022. Originally launching on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, a mobile version of the game has been referenced numerous times through the discovery of job listings and data-mining.

This week saw more evidence uncovered when Warzone Mobile was added to PlaytestCloud, a database that provides playtesting services for mobile game studios. "Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is scoped for 2022," Henderson tweeted this week.

After several job adverts were leaked in August, Activision officially confirmed that it had formed a new studio by the name of Solid State to develop a new mobile entry in the Call of Duty series, although the publisher didn't specifically mention that this would be a Warzone project. Currently, Call of Duty Mobile has a battle royale mode available within it, but the game is a broader slice of multiplayer influenced by the mainline series.

GTA Online Is Adding Story DLC Featuring GTA 5's Franklin And Dr. Dre

Posted: 08 Dec 2021 07:00 AM PST

Grand Theft Auto Online is expanding in a big way this month with the launch of a new "GTA Online Story" featuring Franklin and Dr. Dre. The expansion is called "The Contract," and it releases on December 15. Rockstar announced all the way back in 2013 that it would add new story-focused DLC featuring the heroes of GTA V, and it's finally coming this month. The naming convention as a "GTA Online Story" suggests more might be released in the future.

The story takes place years after Franklin, Michael, and Trevor completed a daring heist of the Union Depository in the main campaign. In the time since then, Franklin has been "making moves of his own."

This amounts to a new company called F. Clinton and Partner. It's described as a "celebrity solutions agency" that caters to the elite of Vinewood. Franklin will help these high-rollers with any of their "high-society problems."

Here's the full list of the top 10 most searched games in 2021:

  5. Resident Evil Village
  6. Genshin Impact
  7. Call of Duty: Vanguard
  8. Far Cry 6
  9. Madden NFL 22

Resident Evil Village made the list as well, most likely due to the popularity and virality of Lady Dimitrescu, who dominated the conversation around the game with her tall stature and towering presence.

Halo Infinite Had A Zelda-Like Open World Before The Studio Cut Two Thirds - Report

Posted: 08 Dec 2021 06:45 AM PST

A new report has shed some light on Halo Infinite's development, with current and former developers speaking about the challenging production process to bring the game to market.

A story from Bloomberg says 343 began planning what would become Halo Infinite not long after Halo 5: Guardians released in 2015. The studio considered different ideas before settling on a plan to make Halo into an open-world game, the report said. But development proved difficult in part because 343 was using a development suite known as Faber, which was old and challenging to use, developers said.

This was seemingly a part of Halo Infinite's new Slipspace engine, which powers Halo Infinite. 343 boss Bonnie Ross said in an interview with GameSpot sister site CNET that creating a new engine and overhauling existing development tools amounted to something similar to "trying to fly the plane while we're building the plane."

Xbox Kicks Off Halo Infinite Launch Day With Some Fine Art

Posted: 08 Dec 2021 04:56 AM PST

Over the two decades that it has been in existence, Halo has established a unique art direction that has carried over to other games in the series and the rest of the franchise. That signature style has now been adapted into the finest of art, which you can currently find hanging in London's Saatchi Gallery until December 15, with a smaller replica on display at the Carrousel du Louvre shopping center in Paris until December 19.

Painted by artist Iva Troj, the piece measures almost 20 feet in length and is 10 feet tall. You can see the Master Chief masterpiece in more detail in the video embedded below.

"I consequently spent a long time immersing myself in Halo's universe to bring this to life in the manner of an old master but depicting a modern battle, and I hope Halo fans and gamers everywhere enjoy the results--including those smaller Easter eggs that you might not notice at first glance," Troj said in a press release. "A rare combination of digital and traditional painting skills was required, as I worked alongside the 343 Industries development team; the painting was completed in just over a month."

Halo Infinite Game Disc Doesn't Have The Full Game On It, Multiplayer Download Required To Play Campaign

Posted: 08 Dec 2021 04:39 AM PST

Halo Infinite's campaign launches today, December 8, and it's been discovered that people who buy the game on a disc still need to go online to install the game completely. People who reported receiving early copies of the game tried to boot it up and play early but that apparently is not possible. Additionally, it's been revealed that to play Halo Infinite's campaign, you must also download the multiplayer mode.

The disc lets you install about 15 GB of game files for Halo Infinite's campaign, Eurogamer reports. However, players must then head to the Xbox Store to finish the download--and those files aren't available yet.

It's fairly common for physical games to require an online update to get started, but 15 GB is smaller than the full size of Halo Infinite, so fans have speculated that the full game is not actually on the disc. So what is on the disc? Microsoft has not said.
