Random: Requests For Zelda Ports Increase Following BOTW 2 Switch Delay Posted: 29 Mar 2022 10:45 PM PDT Please make it happen, Nintendo. Yesterday, was a pretty rough one for Switch owners, with Nintendo announcing the delay of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. On a more positive note, it at least gives Nintendo more time to make this anticipated release even better. The only problem we have now is that the Switch could be without a Zelda game for 2022. So what can Nintendo do about this? As usual, social media has chimed in, and there are calls for the company to port Wind Waker and Twilight Princess to the hybrid platform. Puzzle & Dragons Switch Update Adds New Control Settings To "Better Support Left-Handed Players" Posted: 29 Mar 2022 09:05 PM PDT Download it today. It's always nice when games are able to provide updates that make the experience accessible to even more players, and the latest title to do this is Puzzle & Dragons Nintendo Switch Edition. After arriving on the platform last month, GungHo Online Entertainment has issued the version 1.02 update - adding a controller option intended to "better support left-handed players". This update also includes various other key updates and the usual bug fixes. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Former Nintendo Employee Admits He's Frustrated With Switch Online Posted: 29 Mar 2022 07:45 PM PDT "giving people an indication of what the plan is helps". Everyone has an opinion about the Switch Online service, and it seems former Nintendo employees are no different. In a very honest reply to a fan question, former Nintendo Minute co-host Kit (who now runs a weekly podcast with Krysta) has shared his own thoughts about Nintendo's current strategy of "drip-feeding" classic games. Nintendo Reminds Fans EarthBound And EarthBound Beginnings Are Available On Switch Online Posted: 29 Mar 2022 06:05 PM PDT You can even download a free strategy guide. Earlier this year, Nintendo finally made EarthBound and EarthBound Beginnings available on the Switch Online service. In case you missed it, Nintendo has now issued a reminder by sharing a fact sheet on social media - highlighting a few of the fun details about each game. It's also shared a link to the original EarthBound Player's Guide (again). Read the full article on nintendolife.com |

Feature: 16 Theories About Link's Weird Arm In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Posted: 29 Mar 2022 02:00 PM PDT Zelda: Arms. We know surprisingly little about the game currently titled The Sequel To The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild. But that won't stop me from furiously speculating about it all the same, based on all the trailers we've got so far, and all the things I know about the Zelda games! Presumably, you've clicked on this feature because you also love wild theories, so welcome to my equivalent of a shed covered in newspaper clippings and red strings. Today, I'm focusing particularly on the new feature I'm going to call "Link's Weird Arm", which could be the main new mechanic in BOTW2. We just don't know! Crystar Brings The Emotion With A Switch Launch Trailer Posted: 29 Mar 2022 12:00 PM PDT 'Give meaning to the tears'. Crystar is an intriguing RPG from recent years, as it has battle mechanics centred around crying - apparently. Originally a PS4 exclusive, NIS America has stepped in to bring it to Switch. Ahead of its release later this week we have the official launch trailer, at the top of the page. It follows the usual playbook, in some respects, with dramatic piano-led music and lots of dramatic voiceover clips that doesn't necessarily make much sense. It looks darn interesting, though. Poll: C'mon Then, Did You Predict The Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delay? Posted: 29 Mar 2022 10:00 AM PDT How disappointed are you? We all knew what the video was about when we saw the thumbnail and ominous title - "Launch Timing Update". If Nintendo was announcing a release date for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, it would be either headlining a Nintendo Direct or drop in a trailer with an exciting action shot for a thumbnail. We'd get some official shots drop into our inbox shortly after the fact... Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Fortnite Zero Build Is Live Now As A Permanent Mode Posted: 29 Mar 2022 09:30 AM PDT "Zero Build is a pure test of weapon, item, and traversal ability". When the latest Season kicked off in Fortnite it made the bold move of stopping building for 9 days, making it play more like a standard Battle Royale. It was pitched as a temporary move that combined with new traversal abilities to shake up gameplay, but there was plenty of chatter online to suggest that it'd become a permanent mode. That has now happened, with Epic Games releasing the Zero Build update. It adds no building as an alternative mode, with the same flexibility in terms of playing in Solo, Duos, Trios, and Squads playlists. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Guide: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2: Everything We Know So Far Posted: 29 Mar 2022 08:30 AM PDT We collect every shred of information on the upcoming Zelda sequel. Polishing off the last few shrines and giving Calamity Ganon what-for in the final battle of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was a bittersweet act. After such a wonderful, rich journey it was time to bid farewell to Link, Zelda and the largest, most expansive iteration of Hyrule we'd ever visited - what were we going to do with ourselves? Of course, we returned to devour the DLC and burn across the kingdom on our motorcycle while vacuuming up several hundred Korok seeds, but then began the wait for the next 'proper' Zelda game. Sure, in the intervening time we've had Cadence of Hyrule, the Link's Awakening remake, and Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity, and there are plenty of Zelda-like games available for Switch, but there's nothing quite like a full-fat Zelda experience. New Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Footage Showcases Gnarly Master Sword Posted: 29 Mar 2022 07:45 AM PDT And Link's cool tattoos. Today has brought the undoubtedly disappointing news that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will now come out in Spring 2023, pushed back from its target of this year. Of course delays to games in the series are quite common, but at least the announcement video has a new clip for us to dive into. Most of the snippets in the video above were from the previous teaser trailer, but at the 53 second mark we get a new look at Link in the sky area. As you can see we get a look at his tattoos / markings on his right arm, his tattered yet Triforce-themed clothes, and the Master Sword in a gnarly / corrupted form. The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delayed To Spring 2023 Posted: 29 Mar 2022 07:05 AM PDT Nintendo's got some bad news for Zelda fans. Nintendo has shared an update regarding The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2: it's being delayed until 2023. Originally scheduled for a 2022 release — and reconfirmed for that launch window last month (albeit with 'temp.' appended) — series boss Eiji Aonuma presented the short update and apologised to fans who had been expecting to play the game some time this year. Review: .hack//G.U. Last Recode - Intriguing But Ageing PS2 ARPGs Get A Solid Remaster Posted: 29 Mar 2022 07:00 AM PDT "I'm in". Multimedia projects can be tremendous accomplishments when pulled off right, drawing upon the unique strengths of different mediums to tell an all-encompassing tale. In the early 2000s, Bandai took a shot at one with Project .hack, which began with an anime and spun out to include a manga, a series of novels, and a four-part collection of video games for the PlayStation 2. This was then repeated with a follow up called .hack Conglomerate that moved forward a bit in the in-universe timeline to establish a new era of stories and characters. The main games to come out of this second wave were the .hack//G.U. trilogy, which saw a re-release on modern consoles in 2017 as .hack//G.U. Last Recode. Now that the remaster has made its way over to the Switch, we can confidently say that it was kind of worth the wait. .hack//G.U. Last Recode is the epitome of a filler game; it doesn't do anything badly enough to really draw substantial ire, but it doesn't do anything well enough to deserve much attention either. The narrative of .hack//G.U. Last Recode is set some time after the original quadrilogy and acts as a largely standalone story following new characters that first-time players can comfortably follow. Here, we play as Haseo, a brash player in an MMO called The World R.2 who gets his kicks as a PKK—a Player-Killer-Killer who defends noobs from the nefarious Player Killers roaming the servers. In the first volume, Haseo is hunting for a mysterious PK called Tri-Edge, whose victims have been falling into a coma in the real world for some horrifying reason, and there's a revenge motive to this hunt given that one of Haseo's best friends was a recent victim. It doesn't take long for Haseo to find and confront Tri-Edge, but he's hopelessly outmatched in the ensuing battle and is 'killed', only to respawn having lost all the gear and levels that he spent hundreds of hours grinding for. Undeterred, Haseo thus sets out on a quest to regain his power and defeat Tri-Edge once and for all. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Random: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Player Spends 10 Hours Reuniting Four Beedles Posted: 29 Mar 2022 06:00 AM PDT Ladies and gentlemen... The Beedles! Another day, another delicious nugget of Breath of the Wild-dom to nourish us while we wait for the sequel. Recently, we learned that you can swim in lava, use a Blizzard Rod to safely run through flames (while naked), and even head into space. Today, however we've seen perhaps the most exciting discovery made in the game yet: BOTW contains not one, but all four Beatles and it's possible to reunite them!... What's that? Beedles, you say? Oh. Well, that's admittedly less exciting. But still! Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Former Elite Beat Agents Devs Confirm Next Title, 'Backbeat', To Debut On Switch Posted: 29 Mar 2022 05:30 AM PDT Previously brought us Hexagroove: Tactical DJ on Switch. There are a range of intriguing music games on Switch, and another to definitely add to the list is Backbeat, which will make its console debut on Nintendo's system later this year (alongside a Steam release). It's from Ichigoichie, which previously brought us Hexagroove: Tactical DJ on Switch and was founded by industry veterans that worked on a variety of titles, including the classic Elite Beat Agents. As you can see in the gameplay video above it's an interesting blend of approaches, with puzzle solving and strategy combining into an end result that delivers unique music arrangements. Some of the official details are below. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |

Bandai Namco has just revealed its grand vision for the Gundam metaverse project during the Third Gundam Conference, which was held on March 29th. The company plans to "develop a metaverse for each IP as a new framework for connecting with fans" with work starting in April. Mobile Suit Gundam is the first IP, and its metaverse will be set in space colonies packed with all sorts of Gundam content – which will include video games, anime, model kits ("Gunpla") and much more. Users will be able to access these colonies through their virtual avatars and interact with others. Bandai Namco is calling the Gundam metaverse "SIDE-G". Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Andro Dunos 2 Switch Physical Edition Pre-Orders Fly Into View Posted: 29 Mar 2022 04:00 AM PDT Or 3DS, if you want to go old school. The Switch has an impressive range of shoot 'em ups, and we're still getting regular new releases to check out. One lower profile entry that arrived recently on the eShop is Andro Dunos 2, but if you're a fan of the genre you shouldn't sleep on it. We gave this one a hearty recommendation in our recent review. If you're a physical collector, though, you're in luck. Publisher VGNYsoft is carrying the baton in this case for developer PixelHeart. Pre-orders are now open for Q2 shipping of physical editions for both Switch and 3DS, as this is a title that is also on Nintendo's last-gen portable (and it supports stereoscropic 3D!). Turns Out Sonic 2's Stars Have Impeccable Taste In Video Games Posted: 29 Mar 2022 03:30 AM PDT Chrono Trigger! GoldenEye! Contra! The press blitz for the Sonic 2 movie is in full swing, and that means plenty of interviews with the cast – including James Marsden and Ben Schwartz, the latter of whom provides Sonic's voice in this and its forerunner. As you might imagine for a movie based on a video game, the topic of video games cropped up in a recent interview, and the pair gave some encouraging answers when asked which titles they loved the most. New Chart Data Shows That Brits Are In Love With Mario, But Only After FIFA And CoD Posted: 29 Mar 2022 02:45 AM PDT GfK publishes UK's top 30 best-selling computer games since 1995. "Brand new analysis" from sales tracking firm GfK has lifted the lid on the UK's top 30 best-selling pieces of gaming software since 1995 – and it should come as no real shock to learn that Mario ranks very highly indeed. The titles that contributed most to this success were Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 8, and New Super Mario Bros. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Take A Look At Some Impressive Hi-Res Nintendo Switch Sports Screens Posted: 29 Mar 2022 02:30 AM PDT Wii've come a long way. The postponement of Advance Wars 1 + 2: Re-Boot Camp has slowed the frenetic first-party release slate down a little, but Nintendo still has a notable game arriving in April. Of course, it's Nintendo Switch Sports, a sequel/reboot of the iconic Wii Sports, while also taking some cues from its ambitious follow-up Wii Sports Resort. This time around we'll be playing around in SPOCCO Square, which looks rather like an Olympic Village / Campus to us, with a lovely location and stylish facilities.
