With less than a week to go until Prime Day 2021, you may want to start measuring your TV stand or figuring out where you will mount your new TV. There are even some early Prime Day TV deals available now, including LG's 4K OLED TVs and plenty of Amazon Fire smart TVs. More TV deals will undoubtedly pop up at Amazon and other retailers next week, but there's already a good selection to choose from. Ahead of the sale, we've rounded up the best Prime Day TV deals available now. With the dates announced, early Prime Day deals have started going live, with a few offers on budget-focused sets with Amazon Fire support. These include great options from Insignia and Toshiba. The TVs on offer range from just $100 up to just over $300, giving you some flexibility even at this lower price bracket. These deals are exclusive to Amazon Prime subscribers, as are all the deals expected to go live on Prime Day itself. Of course, there will also be plenty of tech deals on devices like the Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Cube if you want to use the Fire TV interface on a separate TV. Gamers will likely be eyeing deals on pricier 4K and OLED TV deals during Prime Day, screens that can utilize the full power of next-gen consoles. Though these will always be pricier than the budget TVs mentioned above, they're well worth it for those needing high refresh rates and a gorgeous, high-contrast picture. Expect TVs from top brands like Sony, Samsung, and LG to see discounts of up to $1,000 on Amazon, and be sure to check out TV deals at other retailers like Best Buy and Walmart during Prime Day--they're sure to have some nice competing offers. Stranger Of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Demo Extended After Being Unplayable At Launch Posted: 18 Jun 2021 11:46 AM PDT Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, the new Final Fantasy spin-off from Team Ninja, is having its limited-time PlayStation 5 demo extended by two additional days. The demo will now be available to download and play until June 26. The news, via a translated Famitsu interview on the official Square Enix website, comes as a response to the Stranger of Paradise demo being completely unplayable when it first launched shortly after the game's official reveal during Square Enix's E3 2021 presentation. Eager players looking to try the game firsthand following the reveal were greeted with error messages saying game data was corrupted, and that it needed to be deleted and downloaded again. Square Enix has been upfront about wanting feedback from fans who have played the demo, with Stranger of Paradise creative producer and longtime Final Fantasy developer Tetsuya Nomura telling fans that "if you have the setup to play it, we would really appreciate it if you could give it a go and let us know any feedback that you might have." Knives Out 2 And 3: Everything We Know About The Netflix Sequels Posted: 18 Jun 2021 10:58 AM PDT There are two sequels to Rian Johnson's hit murder mystery thriller Knives Out on the way, which will stream exclusively on Netflix. Here's everything we know so far. Rian Johnson has had a fascinating and diverse directorial career to date. He made his debut with the 2005 high school film noir Brick, which was followed by the romantic caper movie The Brothers Bloom, and the time-twisting sci-fi thriller Looper. Next up was the Star Wars movie The Last Jedi. While some of that film's more surprising plot and character developments divided fans, anyone who had followed Johnson's career up to that point knew that he was unlikely to deliver a totally conventional Star Wars movie (after all, we have J.J. Abrams for that.) So it was little surprise when Johnson made another left turn for his fifth movie. Knives Out was a hugely entertaining old-fashioned murder mystery, with a star-studded cast clearly having a great time with the movie's dark humor, razor-sharp dialogue, and clever twists. Knives Out was a financial success too. It made $311 million worldwide from a modest production budget of $40 million, an impressive number for a Hollywood movie that wasn't a sequel, reboot, or based on an existing property. What's more, it earned Johnson an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Continue Reading at GameSpot |
FIFA 21 Players Can Now Preview What's Inside A Loot Box Before Buying It Posted: 18 Jun 2021 10:53 AM PDT FIFA 21 players can now see what is inside loot boxes before choosing to purchase them, in a new feature added as part of the game's ongoing "Festival of FUTball" event. Called "Ultimate Team Preview Packs", these packs can be previewed in the game's FUT Store. As detailed by Eurogamer, players can choose to preview the contents via a pack opening animation. Players can then decide to purchase that specific pack. These packs can either be bought with FUT Coins, which are earned through gameplay, or with FIFA Points, which are acquired with real-world money. If a player opts not to buy the pack, the preview pack's contents will remain in the store for viewing, now on a timer. Once the timer expires, players can then choose to preview another pack. Ultimate Team Preview Packs are the only type of pack available for purchase during the duration of the event, though EA says other types of packs will return in the future. It's currently unclear if all packs going forward will support the new preview feature. Continue Reading at GameSpot |
Best Prime Day Apple Deals 2021: M1 MacBook Air, AirPods, iPad Pro, And More Posted: 18 Jun 2021 10:17 AM PDT
Amazon Prime Day 2021 runs from June 21-22 this year, which means not much time is left before a huge wave of deals goes live, both at Amazon and competing retailers. Apple deals are always a big point of interest, with shoppers looking out for steep discounts on the company's premium products, from iPhones to iMacs, tablets, smartwatches, and more. If last year is any indication, Prime Day 2021 will bring plenty of markdowns on iOS devices, whether you're looking to pick up some AirPods, the Apple Watch, or a new MacBook. And ahead of Prime Day, some Apple devices have already started to receive discounts. In 2020, Prime Day Apple deals included $50 off the AirPods Pro, big discounts on iPad and iPad Mini devices, and deals on the Apple Watch Series 5. This year, we've already seen a few device discounts on the 2020 M1-powered MacBook Air, Apple AirPods Max, the pricey over-the-ear headphones from Apple, as well as the in-ear Apple AirPods Pro. The Flash Movie Director Reveals Supergirl Costume Posted: 18 Jun 2021 09:47 AM PDT Andy Muschietti, who is directing the upcoming DC movie The Flash, is on a roll lately. After first sharing a tease of Michael Keaton's Batman costume in the film, as well as an updated look at Ezra Miller's updated Flash costume, the director is back again to give the first look at Supergirl's outfit. Naturally, the costume has a version of the iconic symbol also seen on Superman's costume--though it's important to note this is not the same insignia that's worn by Henry Cavill's Superman. More interesting to note, however, is that the costume looks to be employing a two-tone color scheme. The shoulders of the suit appear to be red, while the rest of the torso looks to be the classic blue of the traditional Supergirl costume. There's no telling if this particular design choice extends to the cape. It is interesting to note, this particular colorway choice somewhat resembles the outfit Brie Larson wears as Captain Marvel in the MCU. Colombian actress Sasha Calle has been cast in the role of Supergirl. Muschietti revealed the casting in a Zoom call with Calle back in February, in which her reaction to landing the role was captured on video. Continue Reading at GameSpot |
Nintendo Will Announce New Hardware When The Time Is Right, Bowser Says Posted: 18 Jun 2021 09:43 AM PDT Having now entered its fifth year, the Nintendo Switch console is doing great business and the company isn't in a rush to introduce new hardware to the market, according to Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser. "We are always looking at technology and how technology can enhance gameplay experiences," Bowser explained to The Washington Post. "It's not technology for technology's sake. It's how specifically can technology enhance a gameplay experience. And then where do you apply that technology? Do you want to apply it on current existing hardware or platforms, or do you want to wait for the next platform? And then what's the right gameplay experience with that? There's a host of factors that goes into it, and it's something we're always looking at." Bowser added that Nintendo is currently focused on its upcoming slate of games that cater to a diverse audience, a key pillar of the company's business strategy. Nintendo has also been branching out into other areas with its biggest intellectual properties, reaching the mobile gaming space, partnerships with Lego, and the creation of several theme parks around the world. Bayonetta 3 is "Progressing Well" Despite Another E3 Absence, Nintendo Says Posted: 18 Jun 2021 09:42 AM PDT Bayonetta 3 was announced back in 2017, and with no news on the game--like, at all--since then, one might assume that something is wrong with development or it has stopped entirely. However, Nintendo has assured us this is not the case, though it didn't actually provide any estimate on when we'll see the game for the first time. During an interview with GameSpot's Tamoor Hussain, Nintendo Treehouse employees Nate Bihldorff and Bill Trinen confirmed Bayonetta 3 is still in the works, with Trinen even going so far as to say the game is "progressing well." In terms of what that means for us as eager players, it doesn't actually tell us much. "Progressing well" could mean it's in the early stages and the team is hitting its targets, or that it's nearing completion. Given the massive amount of time since it was announced, we're hoping it's the latter. Continue Reading at GameSpot |
Knockout City Will Innovate On Its Storytelling And Develop Its Lore In Future Seasons Posted: 18 Jun 2021 09:40 AM PDT Knockout City fans have noticed that there's a narrative-driven conflict in the background of the dodgebrawl game. It's an element of the game that will become more prominent going forward, as developer Velan Studios plans to innovate on Knockout City's storytelling in future seasons. "The fan base is asking for more lore and there are already really fun fan theories about the DJ on the moon and Malcolm Magpie," Velan Studios CEO and co-founder Karthik Bala told me. "We always intended Knockout City to be 'action in the foreground and narrative in the background.'" Similar to other online multiplayer games with prominent narrative elements like Apex Legends and Hood: Outlaws & Legends, Knockout City's narrative supports its world building. According to Bala, it brings some internal consistency to everything. Continue Reading at GameSpot |
New Apex Legends Weapon Charm Adds A Knockout City Dodgeball Posted: 18 Jun 2021 09:37 AM PDT With its breakout success, it shouldn't be a surprise that we're starting to see Knockout City begin to cross over with other popular titles. For a limited time, Apex Legends players will be able to represent their love for the gym sport with a twist with a dodgeball charm. According to a tweet from the official Apex Legends account, the dodgeball charm will be available from now until June 30. However, not all Apex Legends players will be able to receive the trinket. Only people that have subscribed to EA Play, EA's paid gaming service, will be eligible to get a dodgeball for their favorite weapon in Apex Legends. If you're really dead set on getting a Knockout City-themed charm in Apex Legends but aren't subscribed to EA Play, it's not too expensive to get into. Players can subscribe to the service for a single month for $5, and get a charm, along with some games to play for a month as well. Continue Reading at GameSpot |
Elizabeth Olsen Takes On The Infinity Burn Gauntlet In Latest Hot Ones Episode Posted: 18 Jun 2021 08:49 AM PDT Regular interviews with celebrities are boring, but interviews where the rich and the famous have to endure the scorching heat of a chicken wing smothered in a hot sauce? Now that's entertainment and the culinary torture that WandaVision actress Elizabeth Olsen endured during the latest Hot Ones episode. Back to an in-person setup and with socially distanced tables between Olsen and host Sean Evans, the actress spoke about her work in theater, indies like Wind River and Ingrid Goes West, and the definition of "Stan". How did Olsen cope with chicken wings that were coated with everything from a mild classic hot sauce through to the infamous celebrity-breaker Da Bomb? You can see for yourself in the video below. Elden Ring Isn't A Dark Souls Sequel, But George R.R. Martin Thinks It Is Posted: 18 Jun 2021 08:38 AM PDT A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin, whose book series was turned into HBO's Game of Thrones, also helped to build the world of Elden Ring. However, during an interview with Chicago news network WTTW, Martin seems to misrepresent the game as a sequel to Dark Souls. After being asked how working on a video game was different for him, Martin said, "Well, it actually is considerably different. I've played some video games. I'm not a big video gamer. But the game is called The Elden Ring, and it's a sequel to a video game that came out a few years ago called Dark Souls, and it came out of Japan." While it would be interesting if Elden Ring were a sequel to Dark Souls, that is likely not the case. Later on in the same interview, Martin spoke about his work on the game specifically, saying that he was brought in to build the game's world. "My work on it [Elden Ring] was actually done years ago," said Martin. "These games, they're like movies, they take a long time to develop. Basically they wanted a world created to set the game in, they wanted worldbuilding." Continue Reading at GameSpot |
