A Special Porygon-Z Will Be Given To Pokémon Sword And Shield Players Next Week Posted: 28 Jul 2021 02:30 AM PDT A great addition to your team. Yet another distribution event has been announced for Pokémon Sword and Shield, this time offering players a special Porygon-Z. The Porygon-Z up for grabs is based on one that was used by Jeong Sang-yoon, winner of last year's Pokémon Trainers Cup in Korea; the distribution coincides with the final of this year's competition, which takes place on 7th August, and follows on from a shiny Amoongus distribution offered last year. Pokémon Unite Update Adds Gardevoir, Charizard Gets Nerfed Posted: 28 Jul 2021 02:00 AM PDT Update: Gardevoir now available. Update: As was promised yesterday, new fighter Gardevoir is now available in Pokémon Unite. Alongside the new character's inclusion, it's also been announced that "a few bugs" have been addressed, including an issue that arose when equipping Charizard with the Muscle Band. Game8 reports that the Muscle Band's effect on Charizard's Standard Attack power has been significantly reduced, suggesting that it may have been a bit too overpowered. Super Mario Bros. 3 Special Version Jumps Onto The Switch Online NES Library Posted: 28 Jul 2021 01:30 AM PDT Fashionably late. The NES Nintendo Switch Online app has had a decent number of Special 'SP' game versions since it launched - these typically give you shortcuts to specific areas of games and apply unique conditions. Somewhat randomly, alongside today's expected addition of 3 SNES games, we now have a Super Mario Bros. 3 SP version (hat-tip to Mario_maniac for the heads up). GungHo Doesn't Necessarily Want To "Restrict" Ninjala To Switch Forever Posted: 27 Jul 2021 08:55 PM PDT It's just the most suitable platform right now. While it might seem like Ninjala could potentially generate a lot more interest on systems like the Xbox, PlayStation and PC - you know, platforms without a game called Splatoon, GungHo Online Entertainment isn't really interested (at least for now) in releasing the team-based bubble gum brawler elsewhere. In an interview with GamesBeat, GungHo president Kazuki Morishita was asked about the possibility of the game coming to other platforms in relation to the possible addition of cross-play. While the team doesn't necessarily want to limit Ninjala to one platform, right now they feel the Switch is the most suitable platform. It's also got "a lot of drive" from Nintendo, apparently: Read the full article on nintendolife.com |

Nintendo Reminds Us Pokémon Diamond And Pearl Remakes Are Coming To Switch Posted: 27 Jul 2021 05:30 PM PDT You remember, right? The Switch releases are in full swing at the moment and there's no sign of things slowing down, either - with games like Sonic Colors Ultimate, WarioWare: Get It Together! and Metroid Dread to follow. One other release to look out for is Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. These new but old games have been officially referred to as "remakes" of the original fourth-generation DS titles. In the lead-up to the November 19th launch this year, Nintendo has taken to social media to promote the game and is also asking fans what their favourite things are about the Sinnoh region... Cosmic Express Is A Constellation Of Train Puzzles Rocketing To Switch Posted: 27 Jul 2021 05:00 PM PDT Far out. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE CUTENESS OF COSMIC EXPRESS. This space-themed-train-themed puzzle game about transporting aliens is HARD. Much like being on a real train, you will probably get very stressed and cry. Or is that just us? Random: There's A New Hill In London, And People Think It Looks Like Super Mario 64 Posted: 27 Jul 2021 04:30 PM PDT Uncool, Uncool Mountain. "What on earth do you mean," we hear you say, "by 'a new hill'?" Trust us, we're as baffled as you are. It turns out that The Powers That Be (Westminster Council) commissioned a £2 million hill next to Marble Arch, for some reason, and yesterday, the 26th of July, was the launch day (although how exactly one "launches" a hill is unclear). Visitors, tourists, and mound fans were expected to pay £8 (EIGHT! POUNDS!) for the privilege of climbing the small hill, which was apparently lowered to £6.50 after people calculated that each of the 130ish steps would therefore cost 6p to mount. According to gleeful reports, the hill was so pants that everyone has already been offered refunds. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
A Good Snowman Is Hard To Build, But You Can Try Anyway Later This Year Posted: 27 Jul 2021 04:00 PM PDT Do you want to build a snowmaaaaaan. Yes, yes, we know. The title is incredibly confusing. We can't help it! The name of this wonderful little puzzle game — "A Good Snowman Is Hard To Build" — is really hard to fit in a news headline. But it is indeed coming to Switch later this year, and here's why you should be terribly excited. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Ghibli-esque RPG Baldo: The Guardian Owls Finally Gets Launch Release Date Posted: 27 Jul 2021 03:30 PM PDT It'll be a hoot. What do you get when you mix Zelda, Studio Ghibli, and Ni No Kuni? You get the best summer holiday of your life, of course, but you also get Baldo: The Guardian Owls, which we've been patiently waiting for since 2019. Sokobond Dev Set To Publish Voxel Puzzle Game 'Bonfire Peaks' On Switch Posted: 27 Jul 2021 03:00 PM PDT We didn't start the fire (but we did contribute to it). Voxels! It's what's good for ya. They're basically 3D pixels, sort of; big chunky blocks like what Minecraft is made of, as well as Bonfire Peaks, a game about setting fire to your belongings. Wait, setting fire to your belongings? Yuuup. In Bonfire Peaks, you're climbing a mysterious island ruin, and along the way you'll have to burn a lot of stuff. Why? BECAUSE THE GAME SAID SO. If we started questioning everything a video game ever told us to do, we'd probably never have time to write all these lovely news posts you adore. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Random: Nobody Likes The Among Us Tan Crewmate Posted: 27 Jul 2021 02:30 PM PDT :(. The Among Us Twitter account is full of neat little insights into the popular betrayal game, and the latest is no exception: the team has been monitoring people's crewmate colour choices since the 15-player update, and now they have the results. In first place, to no one's surprise, is Red, the iconic spacebean, who reigns supreme as the avatar of Among Us. Second is Black, third is White, fourth is "Rose" (which is different from Pink, in eighth place), and fifth is Blue. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Devilishly Tricky Puzzle Game 'Sokobond' Is Sliding Onto Switch This Autumn Posted: 27 Jul 2021 02:00 PM PDT Chemistrial and error. A long time ago, in 1982, a game called Sokoban was released for the NEC PC-8801. It was a simple puzzle game about pushing boxes in a warehouse in order to get them into certain locations; it ended up gripping the imagination of so many puzzle designers that it became its own genre of puzzles. 30 years later in 2012, two game designers called Alan Hazelden and Lee Shang Lun met, and having played (and loved) each other's games, they decided to work together on "a quick four-hour jam game". That game spiralled way out of scope and eventually became Sokobond, a chemistry-themed re-imagining of the Sokoban genre, in which you have to move atoms around in order to create lovely compounds. Super Meat Boy's Physical Box Art Is Horrifying Posted: 27 Jul 2021 01:30 PM PDT Kill it with fire. The PlayStation Vita has had a rough time lately, what with the store closing, no new games being accepted, and previous PS Plus games that you've claimed no longer working on the system. But at least it's getting a special Vita version of the upcoming Super Meat Boy physical edition! But wait, what is this, Push Square? We don't care about no PS Vita (unless it's to inform us how well the Switch OLED screen will hold up). What we care about is that Nintendo Switch owners will also be able to order a physical copy of Super Meat Boy from Limited Run, with this horrifyingly realistic artwork. Cutie Puzzle Game 'A Monster's Expedition' Is Coming To Switch With New DLC Posted: 27 Jul 2021 01:00 PM PDT Log jam. Everyone loves puzzles, especially when they're globally renowned, prize-winning puzzles — which is exactly what A Monster's Expedition is. Developed by puzzle wizards Draknek & Friends (Cosmic Express, A Good Snowman Is Hard To Build, Sokobond) and including music from Eli Rainsberry (Wilmot's Warehouse) and writing from Pip Warr (of PC Gamer and Rock Paper Shotgun), A Monster's Expedition is all about a lil monster who's trying to explore a world by chopping down trees and turning them into bridges. Random: This Pokémon Baby Clothing Line Is Enough To Make Anyone Broody Posted: 27 Jul 2021 12:00 PM PDT Tiny Pikashoes! Did you know that there's an official Pokémon baby brand? Probably not, because it looks like it's Japan-only, but it's very cute, and it's called monpoké. It was founded a few years ago — we got pretty excited when they registered the trademark, only to find out it was a clothing brand and not a new Pokémon game — and since then, has been putting out some lovely clothing, plushies, and accessories, but ONLY FOR KIDS. You aren't allowed them because you are a grown-up. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Talking Point: Which Game Stage Have You Replayed More Than Any Other? Posted: 27 Jul 2021 10:00 AM PDT Green Hill Zone Act 1 is my new-old timesink. The ability to devote entire days to nothing but video games is a past luxury unavailable to me right now, or in the foreseeable future, unfortunately. The addition to my life of small humans that look a bit like me has substantially diminished my available free time, and I've recently realised that it's altered not only the amount of games I play, but the types of games I play, too. I've been yearning to get stuck into a huge, high-quality RPG for months now — and goodness knows I've got enough just sitting in my backlog — but despite Switch's facility with suspending play and how easy it is to fire a game up, tracking characters and storylines over months is too much for my befuddled, sleep-deprived brain to handle. Throw in a pandemic and I'm having trouble remembering the names of close family members. 'RPG Mage Dude #12' doesn't stand a chance. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |

Cuccchi Will Be A Unique "Gamified Archive" Of Enzo Cucchi's Art Posted: 27 Jul 2021 08:00 AM PDT There's nothing else quite like it. The Switch eShop has a number of artistically experimental games, and the upcoming Cuccchi certainly qualifies in that category. Developed by Fantastico Studio and Julian Palacios of the 'Eremo collective', it's an experience that'll form a unique perspective and 'gamified archive' of artist Enzo Cucchi's work. Enzo Cucchi is a renowned artist that has been associated with movements such as 'neo-expressionism' throughout his career; his work is presented in world renowned galleries including Tate Gallery, Louvre and many others. As stated in the press release, the artist has been involved in the project as a modern means of sharing and archiving his work. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
Random: Artist Reimagines Every Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighter As Marvel And DC Superheroes Posted: 27 Jul 2021 06:45 AM PDT 'Super Smash Heroes'. The varied and vibrant roster of characters available in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate really lends itself nicely to fan-made art projects and the like, and this latest effort from Bryan Henry is well worth checking out. Put together as part of a 'Super Smash Heroes' series, the talented artist has been hard at work over the last few months reimagining every fighter available in the game as a Marvel or DC character. The series started right at the beginning with Mario (who obviously takes the role of Superman) and goes right up to the most recently released fighter Kazuya, who takes on the role of DC's Black Adam. Posted: 27 Jul 2021 06:08 AM PDT Fresh content coming later this year. Nintendo has confirmed that Animal Crossing: New Horizons' next free update is set to launch later this week, while also teasing brand new content for the future. In a post shared to social media today, Nintendo reveals that more free content for the game is "currently in development" for later this year. More info is set to be shared at a later date, but this certainly sounds like the refresher fans have been hoping for. In its statement, Nintendo thanks fans for their support and patience. Review: Samurai Warriors 5 - Fast And Flashy Musou On Switch Posted: 27 Jul 2021 06:00 AM PDT Musou People Gonna Die? Koei Tecmo's Samurai Warriors finally returns after a seven year hiatus with a soft reboot that takes the long-running saga back to its roots, focusing on a brash young Nobunaga Oda's unwavering determination to unify Japan whilst zeroing in on his relationship with Mitsuhide Akechi. Samurai Warriors 5 is a slick and stylish addition to the long-running Musou series that tells its tale well, introduces a beautiful new art style, makes a bunch of smart additions to the franchise's standard hack and slash action and, perhaps most importantly for Switch fans, manages all of this whilst delivering impressively solid performance on Nintendo's console. Starting off with that new art style; the rather bland, po-faced visual direction of older entries in the Samurai Warriors series has now been replaced with a fresh and colourful look that's been heavily inspired by traditional Japanese ink paintings. From the moment you boot this one up it's a real feast for the eyeballs and even on Switch, where the graphics have absolutely been pared back in comparison to other versions of the game, things still look really slick. In battle there's a surprising amount of vibrant and flashy particle effects on screen as you slice and dice your way through the thousands of enemies that stand in your way; the narrative cutscenes that book-end missions now look uniformly superb. Yes the draw-distance still stinks a little - a problem not unique to this Switch port - but overall this is one tasty looking addition to the franchise. Read the full article on nintendolife.com |
