Neverwinter Sharandar Episode 3: The Odious Court is Available Now

Posted: 06 Jul 2021 02:00 PM PDT

The conclusion to the Sharandar storyline arrives to Neverwinter with Episode 3: The Odious Court! For this final episode we are greeted by the arrival of Etrien the Bard, a familiar face who has come to request your assistance. Far from the hellish landscapes where we first met Etrien, she has now returned to her ancient home, concerned over the recent attacks inflicted upon Sharandar. While the threats from the Night and Annis Hags were supposedly dealt with, Etrien brings news of a group of Dryads forced out of their home in the Mended Grove, who seek help.

For those willing to assist the displaced Dryads, a series of dubious tasks will lead brave adventurers to uncover the nature of the supposed Dryad leader, Lithoceae. With the help of the Iliyanbruen elves, and a healthy dose of suspicion, adventurers will reveal the final pieces to this story. It will fall upon you, the heroes of Neverwinter, to make a decisive stand against corrupting forces and those that wield them!

The launch of this final episode will also make way for the release of Vault of Stars: Twisted Denizens on July 20. This hardcore mode brings updated challenges to those who believe they have mastered the dungeon and bested the Queen of Air and Darkness. Using the K-Team private queue system, Twisted Denizens introduces a special set of rare spawns in Alcoves of Light—rooms only available when running Vault of Stars in this new mode. Those willing to face these foes will have a chance to obtain the necessary components needed to craft the Ring of Darkness and Ring of Air.

While completing the original Vault of Stars with no deaths awards the Flawless Victory achievement, a Twisted Denizens run with no deaths will result in a Perfect Run achievement. Players who find all three Alcoves of Light will also achieve "Head Towards the Light". In addition to these dungeon achievements, the release of Episode 3: The Odious Court will also allow players to complete "Defender of the Feywild".

For those who do not meet the minimum 40k Item level required for the new Sharandar campaign, the first two weeks of the release of Episode 3 will remove this requirement and welcome all willing adventurers. The Feywild requires your help once again! – will you stand up for the ancient elven homeland? The Odious Court is now live on Xbox One!

Watch Dogs: Legion – Bloodline Expansion Brings Two Legends to London

Posted: 06 Jul 2021 12:00 PM PDT

Watch Dogs: Legion – Bloodline is out now on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, adding a new adventure set before the events of the main game. And where Watch Dogs: Legion lets you recruit anyone you see in its open world, Bloodline zeroes in on two characters with a whole lot of tricks up their sleeves: Aiden Pearce, the first game's vigilante protagonist; and Wrench, Watch Dogs 2's masked trickster.

While you'll play as both Aiden and Wrench over the course of the adventure, they aren't precisely on friendly terms. When Aiden visits London to steal a robot-controlling device from Broca Tech, Wrench intervenes and makes off with the tech — but not before incapacitating Aiden and leaving him for Broca's goons. Thomas Rempart, CEO and owner of the aforementioned tech, gives Aiden an ultimatum: If he doesn't hunt down Wrench and recover the device, bad things are going to happen to his nephew.

Watch Dogs: Legion – Bloodline

In addition to the main storyline, each operative has their own side activities to pursue when you're in control of them – and with the Season Pass, both can be added to your DedSec roster in the main campaign or Online mode. And since Aiden and Wrench need to rely on their own skills in Bloodline, each comes equipped with a variety of unique new abilities and gear to tackle any situation.

Aiden brings back System Crash, a callback to the first game that lets you temporarily disable all nearby electronics. As Aiden, you can also aim in slow motion after taking down an enemy, or get a damage buff after a well-timed reload from a special prompt. And when you're playing as Wrench, you can summon his custom drone, Sergei, or stun enemies by tossing out his Ninja Ball mini-flashbangs. Wrench also carries a great big hammer named Lady Smash, and can unleash havoc with his custom-skinned MPX SMG and LTL grenade launcher.

Watch Dogs: Legion – Bloodline

The hunt is on, and two of Watch Dogs' most seasoned vigilante hackers are ready to match wits across London under the shadow of one of Watch Dogs: Legion's most sinister corporations. What happened before the struggle for the city's soul began in earnest? Grab Bloodline and find out.

Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes 2021 Event is Now Live

Posted: 06 Jul 2021 11:00 AM PDT

Guardians have persevered under a sky blanketed by the Endless Night. By trusting in each other and their new Eliksni allies, the Vex simulation has been overridden, expunged, crashed. With the Sun rising over the Last City once again, it's never seemed more appropriate to bask in the brilliant bravery that emboldens us even in the face of the most trying challenges. And so, it's time to celebrate. Solstice of Heroes has returned.

Everyone's Invited

New players, veterans, Season Pass holders, or free players – no matter how you play Destiny 2, Eva Levante invites you to join in on the festivities. Meet her near the Statue of Heroes in the Tower and begin your quest to unlock some of the most eye-catching armor in the game.

Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes

Your adventure will take you through the speed-running, high-flying landscape that is the European Aerial Zone and empower you with daily elemental buffs. Even if you took part in the celebration last year, there are a few new twists and Bungie Rewards in 2021 you'll want to check out.

Bright as the Sun

A core part of the Solstice of Heroes experience is going on the quest for the Legendary glowing Solstice armor. Start by meeting with Eva Levante in the Tower and learning a little bit about what Solstice of Heroes is, and why it holds such importance to Guardians and citizens alike.

Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes

After getting acquainted with our herald of celebration, you'll walk away with a basic set of armor that you'll start to upgrade by playing a variety of activities. The armor goes through various stages of repair before reaching the Magnificent stage. When you complete this final level, a distinctive white glow will begin to emanate from the set.

European Aerial Zone

One of the cornerstones of the Solstice event is the opening of the European Aerial Zone (EAZ). This limited-time (in more ways than one) activity pits players against the clock in a race to eliminate as many bosses as fast as possible. After the bosses are downed, then another race begins: a race for treasure.

Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes

Chests appear throughout the map and it's up to your three-player fireteam to cleverly navigate the landscape and claim the rewards before time runs out.

New in 2021 are additional jump pads that increase the traversal options as well as an update that permanently displays where the treasure chests are located during the final portion of the race. In previous years, searching for them was a component – now, it's just about speed.

Elemental Buffs

Regardless of what activities you enjoy, a rotating set of buffs will become available for the duration of the event. Each buff is based on one of the four elements in the game: Arc, Solar, Void, and – for the first time in Destiny – Stasis.

Each day will feature one of these elements and challenge players to align their subclass to them to charge the associated buff. Combine the perfect build, loadout, and buff to melt through enemies (in the EAZ and out) without breaking a sweat.

  • Arc: Move with enhanced speed and deal greater melee and Sword damage.
  • Solar: Guardians emit a burning wave of energy that damages anything around them.
  • Void: Crouch while empowered to become invisible and gain Truesight plus enhanced ability regeneration.
  • Stasis: Eliminations spawn an unstable Stasis crystal which floats upwards and swirls for a few seconds before detonating, damaging, and slowing enemies caught in the blast.

Along with the introduction of the Stasis buff, we've also added a new elemental day that we're calling Prism. On Prism days, every element is in play and any buff can be charged – it’s up to players to select whichever subclass best suits the situation.

Subclassy

Class up any piece of Legendary armor with universal ornaments that apply a special Solstice glow to match your subclass. These are available throughout the event at the Eververse store for Silver or Bright Dust.

Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes

Bungie Rewards

New rewards have been added to an already amazing array of collectibles available through the Bungie Rewards program.

Players can immortalize their participation in the 2021 event with the Solstice of Heroes 2021 emblem. The new emblem is quickly unlocked as soon as players complete the introductory journey.

Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes

Those who acquire their final Solstice armor set will unlock the exclusive Solstice of Heroes 2021 shirt for purchase on the Bungie Store.

Destiny 2 is free to play for everyone. Xbox Games Pass members also have access to additional expansion content, including the latest expansion, Beyond Light. Join us for Solstice of Heroes and become a Guardian of the Last City.

Join Xbox on Tuesday, July 6 at 12:30 p.m. PT / 3:30 p.m. ET on Twitch.tv/Xbox for a special Destiny 2: Solstice of Heroes livestream session and live Q&A with Destiny 2 Staff Designer Baldur Tangvald.

Inside Xbox Series X|S Optimized: A Plague Tale: Innocence

Posted: 06 Jul 2021 09:00 AM PDT

One of the biggest benefits of all that power in the hardware is giving developers the ability to make games that are Optimized for Xbox Series X|S. This means that they've taken full advantage of the unique capabilities of Xbox Series X|S, both for new titles built natively using the Xbox Series X|S development environment, as well as previously released titles that have been rebuilt specifically for the console.

In our Inside Xbox Series X|S Optimized series, these creators share the behind-the-scenes accounts of how they're optimizing their titles for Xbox Series X|S and what that means for the future of gaming. Today, we'll be chatting with Executive Producer at Asobo Studio Brice Davin about optimizing A Plague Tale: Innocence for Xbox Series X|S.

Q: “What excites you most about developing and bringing A Plague Tale: Innocence to life on next-generation hardware?"

A: We're super excited to bring A Plague Tale: Innocence to more players who have not yet experienced surviving the rats alongside our young heroes. It's always a thrill to invite new people to our universe and share Amicia and Hugo's journey with them. Of course, we are also happy to offer our fans the opportunity to join the adventure with their new console and relive the epic journey of initiation but in an enhanced and even more immersive version.

A Plague Tale: Innocence

Q: In addition to benefiting from the power and performance of Xbox Series X|S for quicker load times and other enhancements, what Xbox Series X|S features were you most excited to explore leveraging in the development of A Plague Tale: Innocence?

A: Besides the faster load times, we think the 4K resolution and 3D audio are a real plus for a game like A Plague Tale: Innocence.

Q: Why is your development team especially enthusiastic about these features?

A: A Plague Tale: Innocence is above all a narrative experience and the emotional story of family bonds and friendship in a brutal but splendid world. Dialogue and music are as key as graphics and here we can blend those into an optimal mix. We think having 4K graphics for the first time on consoles with the Xbox Series X will bring the most out of our universe. Thanks to 3D audio, both Xbox Series X|S takes immersion to the next level, served by the beautiful soundtrack, composed by Olivier Derivière, and the performance of our actors. We definitely think it is a compelling experience to live or relive, and it may change the way you perceive all the details of the world and the depth of Hugo and Amicia's relationship as well as all our orphans' tragic destiny. The players will also enjoy optimal load times and cross saves of course, giving more fluidity to players' experience on the device they want.

A Plague Tale: Innocence

Q: How do you expect fans of A Plague Tale: Innocence will respond to playing it on Xbox Series X|S with these enhancements?

A: To us, having our game on the Xbox Series X|S is a way to gather different generations and types of players together around a universal tale. We hope the newcomers will share their experience with their relatives and find an echo of their own family bonds in this adventure. So many people identify with one of our orphans. It is very heartwarming when they contact us telling us they understood our story and were able to share this with the one they love. We invite them to watch and play together around their Xbox Series console. Why not join our community with as much enthusiasm and kindness as the first fans? It would be awesome to get their feedback and feelings as well!

Q: What does Smart Delivery mean for your game and how you're bringing A Plague Tale: Innocence to fans?

A: A Plague Tale: Innocence on Xbox One is of course naturally backward compatible with Xbox Series X|S but we really wanted to offer our fans the HD version the game deserves, with enhanced visuals and smoother gameplay thanks to the 60fps. The title is also cross-save meaning your progression and your achievements from the Xbox One will carry over to the Xbox Series consoles. It's a great opportunity to replay the game to achieve your 1000 Gamerscore if you missed a few flowers!

A Plague Tale: Innocence

Q: What does Xbox Series X|S development enable in current or future projects that you could not have achieved with the previous generation of consoles?

A: We have just announced the sequel to our first opus – A Plague Tale: Requiem, coming in 2022. 4K resolution enables us to craft the most beautiful and immersive action-adventure game we have ever dreamt of. It pushes the boundaries of our landscapes and helps us develop epic-scale, never-before-seen rat waves that the players will have to face. And that is just terribly exciting.

As gamers begin the next generation of play on Xbox Series X|S, we do so remembering the great experiences we had before with excitement for what's to come. And no one knows how to navigate the waters of love, loss and love again than 90s R&B singers. So, we thought, what better way to celebrate the reimagining of how you can join Xbox with the all-inclusive offer of Xbox All Access than with the '90s R&B sensation, All-4-One, reimagining "I Swear," their 1994 ballad?

In the music video, shot and edited in a nostalgic '90s-style, the band takes us on a journey from reminiscing about our favorite gaming experiences and memories of years past to those waiting for us on Xbox Series X|S with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Aptly narrated by the band with custom lyrics centered on Xbox All Access, "It's All There" highlights the benefits and ease of your all-inclusive pass to Xbox.

"It's All There" speaks the heart and truth of Xbox All Access. It's all there. Xbox All Access gives you everything you need to get into gaming with Xbox – not only an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S console, but also a library of over 100 high-quality games for console, PC, phones, and tablets with 24-months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate included. Plus, you get all new Xbox Game Studios titles the same day they release, including Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite, and so many more. All-4-One low monthly price! And don’t worry about leaving the favorite gaming experiences behind, with backwards compatibility on Xbox Series X|S you can enjoy 1000s of your favorite Xbox games from across four generations.

Xbox All Access is available in twelve countries around the world and will come to more partners in more countries over the next year. Click here to learn more about Xbox All Access and look out for more nostalgic Xbox All Access '90s themed content in the coming days.
